It’s also perfect for the dynamics they both played in the abuse they faced. Catra took the actual brute force of Shadow Weaver being awful and was constantly being humiliated, threatened, and tortured. She had to recognize that every move she made mattered and that even small slip ups and mistakes would lead to huge loss and pain, so she didn’t have time to consider if something was ethically or morally sound. She just needed to worry about if it was going to get her in trouble or not.
Meanwhile Adora was the golden child. She had to watch awful things happen to Catra and do her absolute best to calm Shadow Weaver down and please her, as to stop Catra from more pain. A literal savior. She also got a ton of survivors guilt, shown in the show with lots of flashback scenes where she is spared from the hate and pain that Catra is forced through.
I just love how well the development and thought processes are done in this show for the two, and how it allows for us to understand their reasoning while still being a step away from it and knowing it isn’t reasonable.
i think it’s interesting how adora and catra’s different forms of abuse affect their outlook on humanity; catra doesn’t really believe that there’s good in the world as a whole and is in constant state of self-preservation so she doesn’t care to fight for what’s seen as morally right most of the show, adora has complete faith in world but none in herself when it’s not tied to other people & values pretty much any good civilian/person’s life over her own. she’s always willing to die for a good cause and puts what other people want above her own wants. they’re both very extreme but only grow from that as they come back together. catra remembers the positives in her relationship with adora and realizes that she always cared about her, then begins to do the right thing because while there’s bad in the world, there’s also good. she doesn’t have to shut herself off from everyone and align herself with an oppressive regime to be safe as there’s safety in connection and humanity. her relationship with adora isn’t perfect and bad things still happen but she continues to do the right thing and protect her + other rebellion members out of love and knowing that despite her own extensive pain, good still exists in people and etheria can and Deserves to be salvaged. after adora allows herself to fight for catra again and express her love she breaks fully the confines of her controlled destiny as she-ra. for the first time in the show she allows herself to consistently want things that aren’t related to her duty. and once she hears that catra loves her there’s a push to believing in herself once again as she doesn’t need to martyr herself to matter to other people, she can just exist as herself in order to be loved and that can co-exist with her love for the world and it’s inhabitants neither one coming before the other.

Arthur Aguefort absolutely used magic to find the most professional and qualified SAT proctor from across the multi-verse and then just popped over to them and pulled them into the world of Spire without even asking.
I think Gavin Pundle deserves a shoutout for being like. One of the most reasonable adults in the series so far.
Reassuring the kids he'll vouch for their innocence? Taking their concerns seriously?
Respect
I'm shocked that anyone this normal exists in the FH-verse tbh. It feels like he got isekai'd in from a world that makes more sense. Like he used to be an SAT proctor and then he got wooshed to Elmville and was like "Welp" and got the exact same job (now with more possible death!)
I do wonder how much that will actually help them though considering Brennan is allergic to making law enforcement competent and also Devil's Honey is in the mix to potentially beat a Zone of Truth.

I don't think Buddy asks Helio any questions.
Kristen asked 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' because she believed in all the good things she was taught, but noticed the strange disconnect between the world as it was and the world as it was taught to her. So she thought, surely, if I can't come up with the answer, Helio will have it. And she hates him for dodging her question.
Buddy is far more deluded than Kristen ever was. And he is far, far angrier inside as a result, even if he deliberately conceals this fact from himself to protect himself from the inevitable mental breakdown this would cause. Buddy is not as altruistic and giving and caring as Kristen is. He wouldn't question why he was betrayed or dig into a question like 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' Those aren't the answers he needs, because of course he'd be betrayed by someone outside the church, that makes perfect sense. Of course bad things happen to good people, we simply live in a fallen world.
Or, well. He used to live in a fallen world. Now he's dead here. In Helio's divine domain.
I think Buddy, as he wanders through fields of corn to the big farmhouse where Helio is chilling out, privately thinks about the fact that Kristen Applebees' horrified expression was the last thing he ever saw before a sharp pain in his throat. I think Buddy assumes Helio knows he's thinking this and apologizes for bringing thoughts like that into paradise. I think he thanks Helio for recognizing his devotion and bringing him here once he died and dutifully deceives himself about his own rising emotions at contending with the fact that he's dead now.
After all, he was raised to die. He was raised to want to die.
To want to be here with his god whenever it was he called Buddy to him. So he doesn't feel upset, no, of course not. He's just a little surprised at how sudden it was. (How completely random. How unceremonious and unfair.) He's a little bit worried how his grandparents would react to the news is all. (He cracks a joke that maybe he'll see them here shortly after they do get the news. He doesn't laugh at it.) He had his own plans for how he'd spread the good word in life, but of course, Helio had other plans. (Nothing Buddy ever wanted really mattered. He knew that, he knew the will of Helio was the real thing that mattered, and everything else was just a small list of preapproved extracurriculars in the syllabus of his life.)
He can't be upset about this.
He shouldn't be upset about this.
This is his reward.
This place and these people and this god are his reward for a life of service and devotion and walking in the light.
It's not his place to be upset about his own reward. Kristen got upset when she went to heaven, when she met Helio, and look where that got her.
Look... look where that got her.
He thinks he hates her. For looking at him like that. All the ways she looked at him. Like he was something pitiful and contemptible. Someone she needed to threaten away from her little brother. Someone she has to double and triple check if he's going to revive her when he's under magical oath to do just that or lose his connection to a divinity she threw away after being chosen.
And then. In that last moment, she looked at him and he saw grief and horror and caring. Like his death was awful and unfair and tragic.
And he thinks maybe he hates her for that. For challenging him every conversation they had and looking at him like she knew something he didn't. Like she was above him. Like killing your own god twice in life is a preferable fate to living for the promise of eternal sunlight and cornbread in death. A promise which was kept to him.
Kristen was promised to Helio, too.
And he can't unsee her face. He can't move along and focus on what truly matters (Helio, the church, spreading the word, doling out divine punishment when needed) because he's reached the end. There is nothing left. Only this bright sunny cornfield and a god who... is nice. And who cares about him, personally. He got Buddy's name wrong the first and only time they held audience.
He thinks he hates Kristen, and he hates that that hatred isn't immediately squashed out of his soul just by being here. In paradise. Where he belongs. Where every follower of Helio belongs. Where he never has to have anyone look at him the way Kristen did ever again.
I don't think Buddy Dawn asks Helio any questions. Because how do you ask the god you devoted every waking minute of your life to, 'Why do I hate it here? Why does this feel like hell?'

The girls of all time ~<3
while were on the topic of homosexuality, thoughts on elphelt x bridget?
i actually drew this ship!!
Tumblr media
i think theyre soooooo cute together !! the idea of elphelt, who is obsessed with femininity and girl power and whatnot, and bridget who is in the process of discovering and exploring her womanhood makes for a really good combo. i think elphelt would be enraptured by the idea of trans women in a supportive kind of way. and i think people who find the ship lame cuz its "just two cute girls u dont even care about the character" are STUPID!!!!! and ur not even using ur brain like. think about it !

Yeah "Riz's name comes up a lot when Kipperlilly talks to the counsellor". But also, every long conversation Riz has had with Jawbone has been about Kipperlilly.

Just imagine Sklonda Gukgak going to Riz's first bloodrush game, understandably anxious because her son is by no means that athletic and probably the smallest one on the field (and she probably watched him get grabbed and crushed to death on a livestream less than a year ago).
And then she gets there and she sees his friends, that she worried were taking advantage of him, there to shower him with encouragement and cheer and inspiration. Like imagine her sitting with Kristen, who tells her of course we're all going to be here for his first game!
And thanks to them, he does it!

I don’t remember Brennan saying anything about it being on the first day, he just said that Riz’s name appeared early on in her logs in freshman year. I don’t think it’s specifically the first day.
list of things riz did on day one of freshman year because i am utterly Fascinated in trying to figure out why kipperlilly hates him SO much ever since THAT VERY DAY:
tried to hand out business cards to people And got dunked into a trash can by ragh in front of everyone and was declared The Ball
Asked ostentatia wallace to listen in on a conversation penelope everpetal and sam nightingale were having in the girl's locker room + got detention for failing to steal arthur aguefort's tea for her
The Corn Cutie Fight And Corn Monster Incident
so like. Needless to say i'm stumped 😭. although, i do think the ostentatia thing could MAYBE actually hold water; maybe kipperlilly saw that happen?? And that one microscopic completely circumstantial incident was enough for her hater ass????? Idk man 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I am mentally constructing a world where the cannon of fantasy high is so vastly different, all because the idea of a hyper intelligent preppy girl with intense anger issues having an obsessive crush over the dorkiest guy in school since the first day of freshman year is so funny. Not only that, the guy, who is a master detective, didn’t even notice her until junior year. She saw a boy wearing a newsies cap holding a briefcase and felt feelings she’s never felt before.

That’s sort of what I was thinking. Considering that he lets the rogue teacher never appear in class it seems pretty possible.
Guys I was thinking about Jace Stardiamond and I realized a few things.
Jace was giving a really bad, shaky speech about the state of the school after Principal Grix died and the Bad Kids did insight checks on him. If I remember correctly, the Bad Kids rolled pretty high in these insight checks and Brennan said he was pretty obviously nervous and has never dealt with struggle or responsibility before so he was just a stressed guy who didn't know what to do. Because of how high they rolled everybody assumed it was true and didn't look into anything else.
On its own that doesn't seem like anything, however, we know that Kalina is trying to tell the bad kids something about Ragh Barkrock. We currently suspect that it has to do with when Ragh saw her talking with, among others, the one and only Jace Stardiamond.
Now this leads to an interesting set of facts. Jace is very stressed in the midst of all this and is struggling due to having way more responsibilities than normal. But he also seems to be caught up in a major conspiracy with a very competent spy and has entered a very clever curse because of it. Not to mention this conspiracy is at least partially at fault for what is causing Jace to be in this stressful situation.
So something here has to be wrong. This supposed conspiracy Ragh saw might be wrong. Or, more suspiciously, Jace could only be pretending to be a stressed guy who isn’t used to responsibility. But for that to be the case then Jace would have to be incredibly good at deception, as to get past Kristen and Riz’s high insight and investigation. Possible, but very strange for a sorcerer.
You know what class should have a high deception? Rogue. And it has been mentioned that the rogue teacher a.) works at the school, b.) is able to keep a close eye on the rogue class’s students while not being caught, and c.) has to work very diligently in grading them and giving feedback to each one.
We also know that Sorcerer class is super easy and Jace mostly just chills out and vibes with students for it. Based on all of this, I have come to the conclusion that not only is Jace part of the major dead god conspiracy, he is also the Rogue teacher hiding in plain sight.
