So there's this story my mom likes to tell me and visitors about when I was but a wee little thing, still learning to read and pronounce things. According to her, she walked in on me on my late grandmother's lap, pointing at a picture book as I enthusiastically screamed "FUCK" with all my teeny baby chest. Without a beat, grandma just said "That's right. Frog!" Thinking back on that story made me realize how very baby Mel coded it is

okay, guys? straight-up confession time!

i need to see what breadhead’s older brother looks like (hence why i’m desperate for other artists’ takes 😳). seriously! Nick dropping that our boy has an older brother was the wildest plot twist! i’m sure the show will give him a killer design, but until then here’s my (totally oc) take on his appearance (and by extension, personality).

my headcanon? he’s another golem like breadhead, but… less successful. different versions, different vibes:

1. Dude’s just done with life and currently MIA from the family.

2. Wants NOTHING to do with them (daddy issues? Oh absolutely).

3.1 Full-blown psycho they had to disown for safety.

3.2 Same psycho, just extra crispy (thanks, fire).

But hey, this is all just my brain running wild for now ;)

маленький комикс про их знакомство потому что я могу себе это позволить 💅💅💅 я типа отлыниваю от работы (шутка, я прерывалась на рисование заказа)

Кен у меня оч смешно выходит, не осуждайте женщину за неумение рисовать его морду лица

может быть будет прода комикса потому что у меня расписан лор (ладно я напишу его ниже чтобы не забыть но вы не читайте если не хотите спойлеров на будущее):

итак сначала Кен вообще не думал о том чем там и зачем занимается Умеренность, для него было весело работать за петрушку (чёёёрт я забыла нарисовать это, забудьте петрушку)

потом Кен начал замечать надписи и фрески, читать их, понял что делают в лабе, это его реально напугало, но он продолжил работать, со временем у него возникла идея о том что он может убить человека, которого создаст Умеренность и чем ближе было к этому, тем больше Кен верил что это возможно, но Умеренность чаще начал делать всё сам, Кен из-за этого потерял столь тесную связь с лабораторией, в общем дальнейшая история не была весёлой

While rewatching "The Gaslight District", I focused on Ken's speech during the "the human death ceremony". Thought this would be interesting to discuss.

We all saw Mel's terrified face during the speech (my poor scared baby), and many reacted with: "Damn Ken, you went too hard!" "It's okay Mel, Dad didn't mean it!" But what if he did...?

At the start of his speech, Ken looks at Mel to ensure she's listening before turning away. His delivery is intentionally harsh, precise, and terrifying (that sinister smile says it all).

Not to mention how Ken's shadow watches with visible pleasure as Mel flinches.

Yet when the speech ends, Ken calmly softens and nudges Mel to smash the egg with "Now, just like you planned" - emphasizing this was always her idea.

Why would Ken do this? It's protection. "If my child sees how rotlings revel in speeches about killing false human, she'll become more cautious." Ken remains a parent who views this trauma as "instilling protective fear" - a harsh but potentially lifesaving lesson.

I love this interpretation because it highlights Ken's imperfections (not all parenting methods are good) - which makes his character so compelling.

i noticed on my first watch that ken has pretty prominent fangs. when i rewatched it, i went: 'Oh shit! Ken’s a vampire!' Sure, Mel has fangs too, but goddammit! I should’ve drawn this. Guess it’s a Vampire AU now. }:-)
