Yuma in the mixed zone: *clutching an aggressively annotated scoresheet* I was mostly happy with today. My leg dropped too low on my camel spin for 0.03 seconds which is unacceptable. My Salchow that received 4.49 GOE was better in practice too and I think I could have done more on the step sequence because at 03:37 the turn was scratchy. I need to improve in every way. I will practice even harder so I can do even better next time.
Ilia in the mixed zone: yeah I actually had to fight a bear on the way to the competition today so wasn't sure if I'd be able to do the quad axel but I still managed to land it and also another 7 quads and win so I'm really happy with that so yeah
Deniss in the mixed zone: my jumps? Well I just love figure skating and the opportunities it provides for human connection, the creation of art and the sharing of emotion. I feel that it serves as an allegory for the challenges of life. We should embrace adversity and call it our friend and I feel that I did so today.
Kao in the mixed zone: once I figure out how to escape the limitations of my mortal body I will never make a mistake like today ever again. I will never surrender until I catch everyone on the podium and become the number one cool guy in the world. Me and Yuma are going for barbeque after this
Deniss Vasiljevs in his Blues Deluxe costume at the 2023 Nepela Memorial and 2024 Europeans. This is a costume that needs many photos to even start to document all the ways in moves!
It's also a costume that generated a lot of comments... Not least from those judges that marked him for a costume violation! In response, Vasiljevs said in an interview with Absolute Skating:
"For the sake of character and performance, I would have liked not to be restricted by things like that. And besides, it wasn't vulgar at all."
But my favourite of his comments about this costume comes from an interview with Golden Skate:
"The colour feels a bit like the colour of a seductive fruit."
Indeed.
