My mind is itchy with fanfiction ideas, but I'm not starting another while I'm still currently writing my Randall one, so I'll have to suffer

I've talked about this already, but it needs repeating, about how the fandom treats those little hints of supernaturality in Hannibal, specifically regarding different characters.

Wether or not you believe 'empaths' are real (personally- the ones claiming themselves to be empaths are usually pretty self-centered and unempathetic), Will Graham's empathy disorder, the way it operates in canon, can't exist in real life.

In fandom, this more or less establishes that the Hannibal universe is a slightly different one to ours, since nobody sees Will's experiences with his empathy disorder as fake or imagined. That makes sense, I mean- he solves real cases with it and Jack Crawford, the rationale in person, also interacts with it as reality.

But what about the others?

Francis Dolarhyde for example is generally accepted to be schizophrenic, that all the supernatural 'help' he gets is a figment of his imagination- but we do see him doing stuff that would be improbable as a natural human.

And people like the Angel Maker as well- exhibiting pretty much the same thing Will does, but it being seen as crazed instead of valid.

I think it's partly to do with the fact that Will is the obvious protagonist and kind of the narrator (even though he doesn't narrate, we see mainly his point of view and follow his story)- naturally the fandom will be kinder toward him.

But the fact that murder and violence from Will is seen as metaphorical and validated and even righteous, vs. everyone else being crazy people, seems like a massive blind spot in interpreting the show as a whole.

Hope this makes sense, I'm running off of little sleep and my brain is fried.

I know it's by far not professional, but I know there are people out there just as desperate for crumbs of Randall Tier content as I am, so-

It's a horse skull with the lower half (the teeth) missing, it's kind of meta because well- I like horses, and using the power of animals to validate cravings of rushing adrenaline is something I can relate to.

In this train of thought, maybe there would be another animal's teeth replacing the missing space. Peter Bernadone did say that the animal that tore those people apart was two, a wolf and a bear.

I think there's something to be said about the metaphorical similarities between Randall and Francis. Both boys who don't consider themselves human and use teeth to try and become their true nature- both the main triggers to Will's own becoming, both utilized by Hannibal sacrificing them to Will.

Not sure what my conclusion to this is.

I need someone to acknowledge Francis Dolarhyde and age regression go together too well. That man needs to be cuddled, cooed over, treated like a proper child with love and unconditional care and affection (glaring at Grandma Dolarhyde).

And not the light kind either where it's a directed and controlled coping mechanism, I want that guy yearning (because yearning is his whole thing, people), and melting the moment anybody softens their tone at him.

I've been consuming media about Hannibal every day for several hours for coming close to two years now, and still I get hit with such incredibly intricate and advanced vocabulary that I need to look it up.

And while yeah, English is technically my second language, I started learning it when I was about five or six, meaning I can't really blame it on my own lack of knowledge, but on the fact that Hannibal fans are really just that smart oh my God.

I'll always be impressed with this fandom.

Francis Dolarhyde is by far one of the most well written characters in the Hannibal franchise(s?).

I think Will Graham said it himself, that he's so like- you feel for him and with him and he's so human and relatable and desperately wants to be sweet and good but also the necrophilia.

What's an acceptable amount of time to wait between buying Red Dragon as a DVD (which has been watched 5 times now) and buying Red Dragon as a book?

Because I need to know more, and I've scoured the internet for all the info I can get, and I'm starting to think a month is enough of a pause to start spending money again?

I just love how this used to be a halfway professional blog and I thought a lot about how to word things and now I'm just word-vomiting at y'all

Don't quote me on this, because I'm in a car and can't use my DVDs to fact-check, but Randall says that he's been "taking his medication and doing much better" (or something quite similar).

It made me wonder- what medication do we think Hannibal prescribed? Not something to keep him in check, but maybe just enough so his decisions are a bit more rational? I know ADHD medication can jumble you up pretty good if you don't actually have it, but maybe something like Adderall? Anti-depressants?

If anyone has headcannons I'd be thrilled to hear them !! :3
