Victorian Fashion based off an object from that era. The two objects I based my two designs off were a ruby embellished crown and a letter sent in that time, in my second design I also incorporated some words relating to the suffragette/feminism movement (eg. ‘Feminism’, ‘women power’, ‘right to vote’..)

THE TRICKLE EFFECT:

In Monday’s marketing class we were asked to explore how teens work in the form of the trickle effect in fashion. Most trends of styles either follow the trickle UP effect or the trickle DOWN effect. TRICKLE DOWN effect is the assumption that fashion trends start with the upper class or fashion leaders and move down to the masses and followers of fashion and the TRICKLE UP effect is based off the idea that fashion on the runways and in the media are based off of street style put together by ‘normal individuals’. For example a shop such as primary would look at what’s selling in say Topshop or what’s trending in magazines and remake them cheaper knowing they’ll definitely sell.

My Mood Board was designed around the ‘60s/MOD’ trends still being relevant. We had to try and draw people in to our boards and bring back a trend and make it relevant or into the next seasons trend. I included images of relevant clothing on recent runways, street wear in the style of 60s/mod women’s clothing and also some older iconic names and outfits from when the trend was first created in the 60s. I am also under the impression that my choice of clothing is a mixture of trickle UP and trickle DOWN as when the trend first became popular it was worn by people like TWIGGY and JEAN SHRIMPTON etc and so it trickled down in the sense that everyday people wanted to look like them and dress like them and even in current day with people like ALEXA CHUNG and PARIS HILTON bringing the trend back in people still aspire to look and dress like they are. However you could argue that teenagers in the 60s started the trend and as a result it caught on and made its way to the magazines and celebrities etc… therefor making it fall in with the trickle up effect. I would however say that in my opinion the trend is leaning more towards the trickle down effect.
