"why not you?" he asks, tone light and playful. "even if you don't believe in fate, it almost feels like it, doesn't it?" he holds his hand out, wiggling his fingers. "c'mon, i'll show you around. do you want a hoodie? or maybe one of the light sticks? i can have my people go get you one."

❝ wait really, me ? Why me ? Not that I'm opposed or anything . . . ❞ Quite the opposite actually, there's just that gut feeling of hers at it again that has her drawn to him. She bats her eyelashes, an almost timid look gracing her features next. ❝ I've never been backstage before. ❞

he softens considerably at the sight of vincent opening his arms to him, beckoning him forward. a quick quirk of the mouth and he ducks his head to hide his smile as he reaches behind him to remove his blade and set it aside. once he's sure it won't fall, he goes to his lover, filling the space in his arms. his own wrap around him, holding him close to him as he buries his face into his shoulder, breathing him in. "sorry. . . for keeping you waiting." he's quiet for another moment, fingers curling into the fabric of his top. "have. . . things been okay?"

                                " i've been waiting for you, " he remains stoic, watching the other carefully before he takes a few steps closer towards him. " i've . . . missed you, too. " a shallow breath, & he opens his arms up, inviting. " come, let me hold you. " he looks towards cloud expectantly, gaze softening, as if pleading.

he smiles softly at the kiss, turning slightly to nuzzle into him before he pulls away. dan heng looks down at the egg thoughtfully, considering kai's words— or rather the words of the stranger that had left them this little gift.

". . . live birth, i think." he looks over at kai as they make their way to the labs. "even if vidyadhara could have offspring, we wouldn't lay eggs. not with the rituals we do." he's thinking about this quite a bit. if, hypothetically, a vidyadhara and another species had offspring, they would most certainly be carried to term within the one who would birth them. once they reach the lab, dan heng shifts the egg slightly. "do we have an incubator? that might be the best place to start." a pause. ". . . are we telling your parents?"

the corner of kai's lips twitches, trying not to smile & failing as he leans in to press a quick kiss to the tip of his ear. dan heng's senses & knowledge continue to surprise & impress him, even after all this time.

"they said something about baby dragons. ours." he shrugs. "they...probably just didn't know vidyadhara can't have offspring?" a pause. "would we have an egg, like this, if we could though? or live birth?" he doesn't really wait for a reply as he steers dan heng toward the labs. maybe they had something for the egg.

"just like that?" he huffs, amused. his gaze flickers between her and the finger before he drops his hand to gently pluck it from her delicate fingers. the tips of his fingers where he holds it begin to sizzle, but the pain is near non-existent to him as he moves his other hand to remove the talisman and watching it turn to ash. he unwraps the finger with a satisfied hum before he pops it into his mouth and swallows it in one go. his eyes close as the energy in the air shifts for a moment, power increasing with the newly consumed finger. he grins as his eyes flutter open and he licks his lips. "now. . . how about that kiss? or would prefer somewhere more private?"

another long stare, she allows cigarette to burn, soft honeyed hues focused solely on the other. " in a minute, " she finally speaks, retrieving the special grade cursed object from her coat pocket, covered in talisman. " don't you want this first ? "

"but we have to get out of here before— before whoever put us here gets back. i— i don't want to die. . . not like this." he moves to the door regardless of the warning and tries to open it again. "i have— i have a family i have to get back to—"

"wait — hold on, it might actually jam if you keep trying to open it. just calm down first, panicking isn't gonna help us."

"yes, his tits, kō." he continues to sign as he speaks, brows furrowed. "it— i'm just saying, they're huge. like. the dude is jacked. maybe he's taking some special sauce or something. wonder if he's got any connections with bane, actually—"

it appears he did not misinterpret the other, still, his face remains stoic. his tits ? he signs in repetition. what does his breasts have to do with this ?

he blinks, turning to stare at reno. lips part and then close, not quite sure how to respond to that. he. . . wasn't wrong, he supposed. casper just had never thought about it like that. it makes him laugh a bit, reaching over to card his fingers through reno's hair, tugging gently on red spikes. "so does that make it halloween every day for our skeletons? or is it just a normal day for them? do they celebrate halloween?"

"noct !" it comes out as a hiss, shoulders tensing as his brows furrowing. "you can't— you can't just say that—" he shudders. anything could be behind him ! a hangry gladio, a dissappointed ignis, or even a gigantoad. he wasn't sure which was scarier, but they were all pretty bad. he doesn't dare look behind him, though, and jolts forward until his hands are secure around noctis' bicep and he begins pulling him along.

whatever it was, they weren't going to deal with it. there was nothing wrong with running away sometimes.

her head feels like it's spinning, floating up into space with no way to return. his kisses make her see stars and his touches send sparks all through her body. no one has ever made her feel like this— she doesn't think anyone will ever make her feel the way val does. her arms moved to snake around his shoulders as he pulls her closer. "val—" lips part as she tries to catch her breath, but she's impatient. she wants more. she pulls him in for one more kiss before her hands settle on his shoulders and she hops up, wrapping her legs around around his waist, not wanting him to crane down for so long just to kiss her. gently, she takes his face in her hands and leans in to kiss him, this time letting her tongue slide along his bottom lip, asking for entrance.

fingertips ghost along the other's jaw, palm flattening against rayne's cheek as he places a gentle kiss to her mouth. it's slow, meaningful in the way he meshes their lips together. lashes flutter close, free hand resting upon her waist as he brings her body closer into him. again, he kisses her, teeth nipping at her bottom lip as he suckles at it, releasing it if only to allow the witch to catch her breath. perhaps it was easier to let him believe this little story he had spun rather than having to tell him the truth ; allowing grief to swell in her chest, tears fall from wet lashes as they begin to cascade down her face, breathing surprisingly even despite current circumstances. after all, the commission had foretold this, didn't they ? it was her curse. to experience love but never truly grasp it. she would never be good enough, not when she was so broken. not when she was just another stepping stone, a pretty little thing to keep.

" i'm sorry, " she breathes, gaze stagnant as her vision begins to blur over. " i never wanted to hurt you, igarashi - san. " i love you, she wants to say, they made me. a sharp inhale, " i . . . i understand if you no longer wish to . . . " a hand is raised, wiping at cheeks, " i understand if you no longer wish to be with me, but please — don't hate me. "

fingers card through dark locks as his other hand flips the page of his book. he was doing research for a mission they had coming up, and dan heng wanted to be well informed. they would be leaving vasuria in a few days and the trip there would take a few days ; he could finish his book then. he closes it and sets it aside before he turns to kai, ready to give him his full attention.

breath catches in his throat as he glances over his shoulder at the prince. sasuke could be quite cruel when he wanted to be and remington could do nothing about it. what could he do? they had no say in this marriage and the other was loud and clear about his discontent with it.

remington, like most, had dreamed of marrying for love, not obligation. perhaps he had been a fool to think he could have happiness, too.

"right," he murmurs, looking back down at his book. he closes it, no longer interested in the words on the page. "then we best get to acting like we can stand to be near each other long enough for the ceremony and the party after, yes?" he turns to face sasuke completely now, hazel eyes guarded. "at the very least, we're going to have to kiss in front of everyone to show that the marriage is official. after that. . ."

a loveless marriage. it sounded like torture. to be bound to someone who cared nothing for their spouse. in a fairytale, they'd magically fall in love, but he could not see that happening with the two of them. ". . . after that, well, it will be a problem for us later."

"a bit," he answers, hand rising to scratch the back of his neck. and he is a bit nervous, but he and ebony have spent a lot of time together these last few months and the tension had been building. he had been waiting for this ; not just to consummate their marriage, but to be able to hold her in the way she was meant to be held. love her the way she was meant to be loved.

he takes her hand and raises it to his lips. he presses a tender kiss to her knuckles, then to the ring he had slid on her finger earlier that morning. he slowly lets her hand go in favor of gently framing her face and leaning in to brush their noses together.

"is. . . is this alright?" he asks, eyes heavy lidded, lips brushing against hers as he spoke. "may i kiss my wife?"

"i'm not telling you." is it childish? perhaps, but he wasn't going to rat on his best friend ! especially when this lunatic wanted to hurt him. "can't we like, i dunno, get along?"

"we can go back if it's too much," he offers, taking a quick glance around before his attention returns to kanna. he cannot see what she does, but he can see that it is affecting her. they aren't too far from the school and could turn back, but she had been insistent that she help him with this errand. he pulls his backpack off of his shoulders and reaches into one of its many pockets to pull out a second pair of glasses— sunglasses. "here you go, tachibana. you can put these on so you can close your eyes. you can hold my arm until we get to our destination. does that sound alright?"
