Wear red this month for a great cause.

HEART-SHAPED CAUSE Everywhere you look these days there are big red hearts to remind you Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, but besides thinking about chocolate-filled bon-bons, there’s a bittersweet side to it all: February is also American Heart Month and a good time to reflect on your ticker’s well-being (did you know heart disease is the number 1 killer of women?). Marking its 10-year anniversary, The Heart Truth has been committed to raising awareness on women’s heart health issues. On February 8, the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show will have a celeb-studded list of supporters, including actress Rose McGowan, who will walk the catwalk in Donna Karan. She’s a lady in red who’s sure to set a few hearts aflutter! The Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show 10th Anniversary via WWD

Diet Coke’s my favorite (not because it’s DIET, because it doesn’t make my teeth hurt, duh). I want to drink, then wear this. Check out the other spreads by Ryan Yoon for Virgine Magazine – seriously, there are also dresses made of M&Ms and teddy bears.

Best Dressed 2012: Last night’s red carpet at the Golden Globes inspired more yawns than gasps, but, thankfully, also more successes than tragedies. There’s always Emma Stone’s tremendous eagle belt to fawn over.

Cancer’s SOS: Make the First Shirt of Shirts
Rick’s daughter, Sydney, was just five years old when she understood what cancer victims, and the families and friends of cancer victims, needed—support. She decorated post-it notes with fun phrases such as, “Keep it up ladies!” and “You can do it!” and gave them to walkers in a local cancer charity event.
Rick realized that his daughter’s innocent encouragement was motivating the participants and he wondered about other ways he could support cancer charity walkers and participants.
Part of the difficulty for those wishing to get involved in cancer charity events is the fundraising cost. It can often cost between $1,500 and $2,000 to participate in events, a burden for many families and friends who otherwise would jump right into the event. This is why Rick has created an innovative nonprofit fundraising organization, Cancer’s SOS, to help them with fundraising.
The purpose of Rick’s project, Cancer’s SOS, is to support cancer charity walkers so that they have fundraising support and have a motivating message behind them. In order to support them, Cancer’s SOS is planning to engage in a “Shirt of Shirts” event, taking the t-shirts of cancer charity walkers and developing a quilt of stories. These shirts with their slogans are important to walkers and connect them with the loved ones they are honoring.
But Rick’s idea goes further. He hopes to use your support and seed funding to interview those who wear the shirts and present their stories and photographs in a Cancer’s SOS book. This book would support Cancer’s SOS and those who walk while also serving as an invaluable support tool for cancer survivors and their friends and family members.
There are only a few days left in the Cancer’s SOS campaign and it truly needs your help to reach its tipping point! Any amount you can donate will go a long way towards making Cancer SOS’s mission of supporting cancer survivors and their families a reality.
