Things I love about Cloti😍

-Their sweet and cute promise❤The water tower scene(popular place for dating at their hometown)was the birth of a promise, which was quite cheesy but there’s another reason as to why the promise holds such significance to Cloud’s life.

-They always there for each other as they lost their family,people they had ever known and hometown

-They make a great duo in battle and mental support

-They had favor for each other

-They both wear earring and metal guard on left side(Cute Isn't🥰)

-They both are shy person when it's come about something affectionate

Ten dimensions of Cloud x Tifa that makes it amazing

What I love about Cloti is that’s nuanced, complex and multi-dimensional. There is a lot to tell about the relationship and there have been dozens of essays dedicated for them. Here are the common themes:

Innocence - We see Cloud and Tifa as children and teens. They held some wide-eyed aspirations that makes them endearing. Cloud wanted to be a hero to be noticed by Tifa, and Tifa wanted to be rescued by a strong hero. Tragically, they lost their innocence in a much harsher way than they deserved. 

Growth - Cloud and Tifa are always a work in process.  From the innocent children we see them, in FFVII we have the older Cloud coming in terms with his identity and Tifa channeling her desire for vengeance into saving the world. Even in AC, Both Cloud and Tifa are overcoming a lot of inner demons. 

Compassion - Tifa stayed with Cloud in Mideel when he was physically and mentally incapacitated. Even at his weakest she has been there to offer her support. Even after Meteor, Cloud and Tifa decided to take care of children as a way to help the world heal. 

Heroism - Cloud wanted to be strong for Tifa and aspired to protect her. His desire to protect Tifa allowed him to defeat Sephiroth even when he was a teen. For Tifa, despite guilt and despair she was able to fight with Cloud for the future of the planet. 

Companionship  -  They saw Nibelheim burn, lost Aerith, fought Sephiroth and live with sins to bear. These memories left them scars yet they share the burden of their pasts together. 

Humanity  - Both Cloud and Tifa are imperfect people. They had moments where they lost hope and seemingly have given up, they also made mistakes that hurt one another even if they have good intentions. They can also be selfish. There were times where Tifa needed Cloud to keep her strong, while Cloud ran away from Tifa because he was afraid to appear weak. 

Healing - Both Tifa and Cloud needed to forgive themselves for their perceived failures . Despite losing a their loved ones, time had allowed the two of them to come in terms with the tragedies. There is no grand gesture or magic that enabled them to heal in an instant.  They took little steps by communicating and being honest about their personal struggles.

Intimacy - The two had bared their souls together in the Lifestream: sharing memories, feelings and their innermost secrets. The two shared the both physical and emotional intimacy under the Highwind and continued to work their relationship after Meteor.  Their close relationship allowed them to speak out their insecurities and fears but at the same time, offer each other support. 

Family - It wasn’t by blood or by marriage, but Cloud and Tifa are able to form a family with their friends and take care of children. While Tifa expressed her insecurities on her role as a mother, living together and overcoming Geostigma and Sephiroth allowed the family to be more united and closer than ever. 

Moving forward - Putting everything together -  healing, forgiveness, family and companionship -  Cloud and Tifa moves on from their past and share a future together. While they would never forget the people they have lost, there are new possibilities, responsibilities as guardians, and many things to live for. “Everything is alright.”

I love that Cloti has a lot of positive themes that tell us about life. There are times that we sink to our lowest, but we can find strength and hope from the people we love. There is no shame admitting weakness and making mistakes, as they people can move forward by forgiving themselves. There is a long, happy life they deserve and I think that after AC, they are heading there.

The “Tifa lied to Cloud so she’s horrible” shit is getting so old. 

1. Tifa didn’t know Cloud was at Nibelheim during the burning. 

2. Cloud had memories of the Nibelheim burning which confused Tifa because she thought he wasn’t there. 

3. There was all this talk about Cloud being a puppet and not being the same Cloud that Tifa lived next door too. 

4. Tifa’s intentions have been called an act of kindness by SE and her reasons for not talking were “out of goodwill” 

5. If Tifa had a perfect memory and told this Cloud who was accurately reciting incidents that happened in Nibelheim that he was never in Nibelheim what would that have accomplished? He either wouldn’t have believed her or it would have caused his mental breakdown to happen sooner. 

6. If the truth had come out sooner, Cloud would have just surrendered himself over to Sephiroth sooner. 

7. Cloud himself says that he was able to continue on because of Tifa’s support. 

8. The context of the story and Tifa’s motivation is completely removed and simplified into “THE BITCH LIED!!!!!!!” without taking into account the narrative or context in a shallow attempt to paint Tifa as a manipulative liar to fill an even shallower hatred of her (Fucking fight me.) 

9. Let’s remove all context and narrative and bring up how Cloud lied to everyone in the game, and that Aerith also lied. Let’s completely remove the context and hate them because “THEY LIED!!!!!!” Oh, it doesn’t work like that? You mean there’s context? You mean it’s unfair to hate these characters for lying because of extenuating circumstances that were taking place? 

10. Shit that has been said about Tifa’s actions: 

The reason for Tifa’s kindness While subtle, Tifa is attentive towards Cloud, asking if he fought with Barret and offering him a drink. Behind this seems to be a desire to ascertain Cloud’s condition, as he has been somewhat odd since they were reunited. These feelings are revealed during Tifa’s monologue before she wakes up in the Shinra Junon office, which was added for the International version.-FF7 Ultimania Omega, pg. 70

Tifa’s flashback The flashback seen before Tifa wakes up was added to the International version.

Cloud says that it has been 5 years since they last met when it should be 7, and while saying he was involved in the Nibelheim incident, he has an understanding of it that clashes with reality. Here we learn that Tifa has felt something wasn’t right with him ever since they met again, and has been dealing with him while she holds back her worries. Also, the reason Cloud was suffering from mako poisoning when Tifa met him again was due to being overexposed to mako during Hojo’s Sephiroth Copy experiments in the Shinra Manor. -FF7 Ultimania Omega, pg. 170

She was reunited with Cloud during one of AVALANCHE’s activities, and invited him to join the organization in order to watch over him after finding many strange aspects in his speech and behavior. -FF7 10th AU, Tifa’s profile.

Out of goodwill for Cloud, she didn’t voice out her personal thoughts. There, her suspicions about Cloud, whose strange speech and conduct conflicted with facts from the past, also … . -FF7 10th AU, Tifa’s profile.

11. Shit Tifa said from the actual game in 1997: 

Tifa: Actually, it’s been seven years. You got your wish and joined SOLDIER, quit after the Sephiroth incident, and now you’re a mercenary… You told me a lot about what happened after you left Nibelheim… But… …Something’s wrong. I felt there was something strange about the things you talked about. All the things you didn’t know that you should, And other things you shouldn’t know that you did… I wanted to make sure… But then I heard… you were going far away… And I didn’t want that… ...I didn’t know what to do. So, I thought I needed more time. And that’s why I told you about the AVALANCHE job. I wanted to be with you, watch you.

12. Shit Cloud said from the actual game in 1997: 

Cloud: Why are you so scared? Don’t worry about me. I’m all right. No matter how confused I am, I’ll never believe a word that Sephiroth says. It’s true that sometimes I can’t figure out who I am. There’s a lot of things muddled up in my memories. But, Tifa…… But you said, ‘Long time no see, Cloud’ right? Those words will always support me. I am the one you grew up with. I’m Cloud of Nibelheim. No matter how much I lose faith in myself, that is the truth. That’s why you shouldn’t be so scared. No matter what anyone else says to me, it’s your attitude that counts…

13. Shit Sephiroth said in the game: 

Sephiroth: Five years ago you were… …constructed by Hojo, piece by piece, right after Nibelheim was burnt. A puppet made up of vibrant Jenova cells, her knowledge, and the power of Mako. An incomplete Sephiroth-clone. Not even given a number. …That is your reality.

Sephiroth: Cloud… Don’t blame Tifa. The ability to change one’s looks, voice, and words, is the power of Jenova. Inside of you, Jenova has merged with Tifa’s memories, creating you. Out of Tifa’s memory…… A boy named Cloud might’ve just been a part of them.

14. What happened to Cloud after this: 

Hojo: Ha, ha, ha… this is perfect!!! It means that my experiment was a complete success. What number were you? Huh? Where is your tattoo?

Cloud: Professor Hojo… I don’t have a number. You didn’t give me one because you said I was a failed experiment.

Hojo: What the–? You mean only a failure made it here?

Cloud: Professor… please give me a number. Please, Professor…

Hojo: Shut up, miserable failure…

15: According to Tifa, Cloud was never in Nibelheim during the burning and has no way to verify that this Cloud she’s interacting with is her childhood friend, who recalls the Nibelheim incident despite not being there. She has no way to know if he’s the Cloud she knows from childhood or if he is what Sephiroth says he is. A clone built in a lab with a name of a boy who “might have existed in Nibelheim” 

So the logical thing to do is go “Hey Cloud, you were never in Nibelheim 5 years ago.” as early as possible right? That’s the most logical and practical thing to do, nothing bad would have happened, right?

16. Cloud is the real Cloud from Nibelheim, and WAS actually there during the burning and actually DID witness the massacre. Tifa telling Cloud he was never there would have accomplished nothing but crumbling Cloud’s psyche sooner. 

17. The lifestream scene in the game involves Cloud and Tifa AND the player uncovering the truth of what REALLY happened and that Cloud IS the Cloud from Nibelheim and not a puppet built in a lab like Sephiroth said. 

18. Cloud regains his true self, thanks to Tifa and can rest easy knowing that he is not something created in a lab and is actually a real human being. 

VII - The night before the final battle Thanks to Tifa, Cloud regains himself, and before the final battle with Sephiroth, without using words, he confirms with her that their feelings match.-FF 20th AU, pg. 394

19. If your response is “BUT TIFA LIED!” you either did not play the game, do not understand the story, or want to nitpick Tifa’s character as to why she should be hated and this is the best you can come up with. 

20. If anyone reblogs this with some longwinded bullshit as to why Tifa is a liar or why she’s horrible, congratulations you will be arguing with yourself. (You should probably acknowledge Cloud and Aerith as “liars” as well, but I know that won’t happen as this is a shallow attempt to shit on Tifa’s character so other characters are naturally exempt from the same standards)
