Your comics inspired me to marry Sam in my co op game he keeps embarrassing me in front of everyone I hate him </3 we all can't stop saying aw yeah pizza time bc of his lame ass </3 he kicked me out of his bed at the end of his 10 heart cutscene to pass out in the river </3 immediately after accepting my proposal he ignored me to play subway surfers on his phone </3 now he stands in front of my cabin like a dork so everyone can see that I am not immune to propaganda </3
I hate him too anon I get it. I never eat the pancakes he makes me those go straight to his mom. In the morning if he gives me a cactus fruit I just give those right back and he takes it like a good boy. Dumbass

Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

The Rule of Three in "Heaven Can't Wait"
(Moving this into its own post)

Once is an incident.

Twice is a coincidence.

Three times is a pattern.
(Screencaps from homeofthenutty)
Ephraim targets all three of them because they’re in pain because of a broken relationship.
The parallel structure of the Rule of Three would indicate that the relationship in the third iteration is romantic, simply because the other two relationships were romantic.
Now, on the surface, it looks like Cas’ breakup is with Nora, his boss, but here’s the thing.
That was never actually a romantic relationship. With the first two victims, the romantic relationship was already established—the couples had been together for some time. Even if it was just for two days, the girl whose boyfriend broke up with her in the cafeteria was recognized to be in an actual relationship that was subsequently dissolved.
Cas and Nora’s relationship was a business one. Even if Cas thought it was about to become something more, it wasn’t more yet. So Cas and Nora don’t quite fit the established pattern.
It’s that “quite” that makes the Cas and Nora example seem off, because typically the third iteration ends differently from the other two. Which is what happened—Cas escaped being smote the crap out of where the other two victims didn’t.
BUT. The three iterations almost always show the same situation, with small variables. Typically, you get a FAIL-FAIL-SUCCEED sequence (or SUCCEED-SUCCEED-FAIL, depending on whose POV you’re in) and it’s only at the end of the iteration that something changes. Cas and Nora’s iteration starts off substantially changed; they are not in a romantic relationship, and there is no actual breakup, so the parallel is incomplete. But it’s not Nora whom we’re supposed to think Cas broke up with, it’s Dean.
I don’t think anybody could credibly argue that Dean kicking Cas out of the bunker in the previous episode was something that had no effect on Cas or that he wasn’t hurt by it, and since most of the episode up to the confrontation in Nora’s house focused on his broken relationship with Dean, it’s clear that we’re supposed to see that as the reason the angel has targeted Cas instead of the non-breakup with Nora, which definitely didn’t have the same effect on him as Dean’s rejection.
Now, Dean kicking Cas out can be read as a platonic breakup—if you completely ignore the Dean watching Cas through the window scene, where their relationship is directly linked to two other broken romantic relationships in a way that structurally and thematically marks it as romantic also.
And if it’s a romantic relationship, it fits the parallel perfectly.
You might be able to persuade me that Robert Berens flubbed the dismount on that parallel (in an alternate universe where I was a completely different person), but Berens isn’t the only one who made that parallel work. Jeremy Carver gave Misha a note that, he was " 'acting like a jilted lover’ with Dean.“ (Misha @HuffPo) The editor, by making that particular musical choice for the Dean watching Cas scene, put a romantic spin on the relationship that substantially reinforced the romantic breakup theme of the parallel, because the music cues are there specifically to tell us how we’re supposed to interpret what we’re seeing.
So there you go. The music, the parallel structure, and JEREMY CARVER* all said ROMANTIC COUPLE.
Three times…is a pattern.
