prospero and annabel are BEST FRIENDS. like theyre eachothers rock, and they would've gone crazy by now had they not met lol

and thats made clear as early as the 2nd chapter (which is prospero centric, shhhhh....)

their dynamic is just so silly and much more laidback than in nevermores canon since they aren't constantly living with the threat of dying a second time

things might get a little tense between them later in the story tho, but thats only as more and more fairytale esque hell breaks loose, and no I am not elaborating😍😍

35 - I'm actually super duper happy with my hair rn because I recently got it cut and its all short and curly but if I had to change one thing then I would dye it purple

So I made a thing... @urlocalpestcontrol made this post and I loved it so much so I decided to make a fanfic of it. This is my first time posting anything I've written so I hope it's good.

NOTE: I know that her name is unlikely to be Lenore twice, but it would be weird if I gave her a different name so I just called her Lenore.

The jovial chatter of students surrounded Lenore as they followed their droning tour guide around the museum, barely taking in a word he was saying. Lenore herself was beginning to drift off, her thoughts wandering lazily away from the paintings and artifacts they were supposed to be taking notes on…it was such a gorgeous summer’s day…she wondered what time it was; she was starting to get hungry…

She realised she was trailing behind her class and quickened her steps a little to keep up. They all stopped in front of a large oil painting with an ornately designed golden frame.

The painting was of a very pretty, short woman lying elegantly on a chaise lounge with golden ringlets cascading almost to her waist. She was wearing a white lace gown and a smug, knowing smirk. Owing to this, and that the painting was hung so high on the wall, the impression was given that she was looking down on the people surrounding her portrait, judging them with a courteous yet amused stare.

Lenore’s thoughts were no longer drifting freely; as she gazed into the pearl pink eyes of the painted lady, it took her a moment to notice that the museum guide was speaking again.

“...and this painting, dating all the way back to 1901, was finished only a few months before the subject, Annabel Lee Whitlock, perished in a tragedy on the day of her wedding. As you can see, the oil paints used…” but Lenore’s thoughts had trailed off again, though this time not due to boredom. Something the guide said had reminded her of something, of a sort of nostalgic familiarity, a longing for something just out of her reach.

Dimly, as though watching through a haze of smoke, she became aware that her classmates were moving away to a different painting, yet Lenore remained, spellbound.

I know what you did. You used the cheese knife to cut up the fish you were eating. What a disregard for polite and proper etiquette.

W-WHAT!? I beg your what? Cheese knife? Fish?? Sir or madam, I don’t know what horrid little dinner party slander you’ve unearthed, but I assure you: I would never—ever—commit such a culinary atrocity.

That cheese knife is for cheese. Specifically, soft cheese. Brie. Camembert. The occasional overambitious wedge of blue. Not for fish. Not for meat. Not for treason.

I mean—do you have any idea how the flavors would cross-contaminate? The residual oil! The sheer disrespect to dairy! It would be culinary heresy. Etiquette blasphemy. A Martha Stewart-ian misdemeanor.

…Unless, of course, the fish in question was smoked salmon, and the cheese knife was a temporary placeholder due to a tragic fork shortage during that one afternoon tea—

But even then!! I rinsed it thoroughly before returning it to the platter! I am not a monster!!
