I think it's hysterical (and really in character) that Ash goes through a whole emotional arc about accepting that Delia and Jessie are dating and then just... doesn't tell anybody about it. Brock and Misty have to have their own crises about team rocket being good now because Ash just never considered that they would have liked to know about this. My boy truly does not think about a single thing except pokemon

Ash has definitely withheld important information on accident from his friends in the past. Like in journeys, when joy showed him and goh team rocket’s mug shots and asked them if they’d seen team rocket around, and ash straight up does not tell goh that he knows them even when they encounter them.

I don’t think he mentioned that he was the alola champion to goh either until WAY too late LMAO

So, didn't get this earlier, but there's some minor hints Haruto is actually a ghost. He wouldn't shake Ash's hand, he disappeared when Ash met these people that were clearly Haruto's parents, and the father seemed to be upset during their earlier interaction.

The way the mom acts confirms it.

One last time feeling the warmth of a Pokemon before passing on.

Didn't see it coming at first. Thought the twist was that he'd be Ash's dad or something since they got similar hairdos (I guess so he could sort of mirror Ash, or so Haruto's parents would be reminded of their son when they meet Ash?), not that he was a ghost.

This was originally just gonna be me going, "Oh the original hat!" at first, but Delia feeding Team Rocket and Ash crying (presumably over the full realization of Haruto's death hitting him, even if they were only friends a short while) and Delia tucking him in were all pretty sweet.

There's a small credits scene but it's pretty much just a "And the journey continues!" sorta thing, so I'll just leave off here for now.

Overall, I really enjoyed the special. The twist was pulled off pretty well, but I hope the subs give us a bit more clarity.
