I know that at this point we're all over MoonPaw's family tree and just trying to ignore it but last night i wanted to truly get a look at how bad it really is and i think i got exactly that

I understand where people are coming from when they say ShadowSight should have sacrificed himself to defeat AshFur instead of BristleFrost but i feel like often they're missing the actual potential that ShadowSight has as a survivor of that situation

ShadowSight is a character who's been pushed around for a majority of his life, manipulated by the very thing healers are told to trust, punished and shunned for that manipulation he suffered, and when he's finally given the chance to take back that agency and make up for all the things he now believes were his fault he still fails, someone else takes the plunge for him

It would have been so much easier if he had died, cats would keep him in their memories as a hero who fixed his mistakes and went out a noble cat, the ones who loved him would mourn him but move on eventually, but that's not what he gets, "it should have been me" is not only full of grief and shame but also dripping with jealously

It should have been him so that BristleFrost would still be here, it should have been him because he deserves to be punished for being so young and foolish, it should have been him because then he'd get to rest, it should have been him

Unfair as hell that during the Dark Forest battle, cats who had killed other cats before got to kill those same cats again a second time (YellowFang and BrokenStar, BrambleClaw and HawkFrost) but MapleShade had to go for SpottedLeaf and not AppleDusk

imagine if after the big darkforest battle in a light in the mist, when everything is over, ashfur and bristlefrost are dead, everyone is exhausted and they all lead bramblestar back to camp only for him to get gutted by spotfur right as he steps into camp. in front of everyone. she was so convinced he wouldnt come back and she just found out that bristlefrost is dead and the sight of him enrages her so much she just kills him and she knows all those things he did werent actually him but it just doesnt matter to her. because bristlefrost and stemleaf are dead and by now shes realized nothing in the clans will ever really change and for a moment she thinks that maybe this is the only way to make them listen
