Peace, Propaganda And The Promised Land from Wave Trader India on Vimeo.
This video shows how the foreign policy interests of American political elites-working in combination with Israeli public relations stratgies-influence US news reporting about the Middle East conflict. Combining American and British TV news clips with observations of analysts, journalists and political activists, Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a brief historical overview, a striking media comparison, and an examination of factors that have distorted U.S. media coverage and, in turn, American public opinion.

2020: an isolation odyssey from lydia cambron on Vimeo.
2020: an isolation odyssey is a reenactment of the iconic finale of 2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick, 1968). Restaged in the context of home quarantine, the journey through time adapts to the mundane dramas of self-isolation–poking fun at the navel-gazing saga of life alone and indoors.

CEASE TO EXIST - (Charles Manson/Beach Boys music documentary, 2008.) from Ryan Oksenberg on Vimeo.
"Cease To Exist" explores Charles Manson's musical aspirations and his relationship with The Beach Boys' drummer Dennis Wilson.
Written and Directed by Ryan Oksenberg
This was made for a documentary film class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007. The entire film is compromised of unlicensed, unearthed footage I collected from everywhere in glorious 420p (pre-HD). A few interviews are taken out of context to best tell the story since there is no visual evidence in existence of Manson and Wilson's relationship.
Running time: 85mins

plant machete from david bowen on Vimeo.
This installation enables a live plant to control a machete. plant machete has a control system that reads and utilizes the electrical noises found in a live philodendron. The system uses an open source micro-controller connected to the plant to read varying resistance signals across the plant’s leaves. Using custom software, these signals are mapped in real-time to the movements of the joints of the industrial robot holding a machete. In this way, the movements of the machete are determined based on input from the plant. Essentially the plant is the brain of the robot controlling the machete determining how it swings, jabs, slices and interacts in space.

Czechoslovak New Wave - Criterion Channel Introduction from Criterion Collection on Vimeo.
Of all the cinematic New Waves that broke over the world in the 1960s, the one in Czechoslovakia was among the most fruitful, fascinating, and radical. With a wicked sense of humor and a healthy streak of surrealism, a group of fearless directors risked censorship and began to use film to speak out about the hypocrisy and absurdity of the Communist state. Ranging in style from the dazzlingly experimental to the arrestingly realistic, these revolutionary transmissions from a singular time and place stand as models of art as a tool of political resistance.

One Way Street: Fragments for Walter Benjamin (1993) from g. c. on Vimeo.
Directed by John Hughes
One way street explores the life and work of German Jewish critic and philosopher, Walter Benjamin, who died escaping the Gestapo in 1940. Although Benjamin's work is little known in this country, he is regarded in Europe as one of the most influential figures in 20th Century thought.
One way street provides clear and accessible introductions to some of the central ideas in Benjamin's writings. Expert commentary from a range of English scholars situate Benjamin's work in the context of their time and evoke a sense of the excitement that his work has generated. A heightened visual style, montage structure and strong musical treatments correspond in evocative and powerful ways with the concerns and the strategies of Benjamin himself.

SYNOPSIS
Through the eyes of a young girl suffering from mental illness, CALDERA glimpses into a world of psychosis and explores a world of ambiguous reality and the nature of life and death.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
CALDERA is inspired by my father's struggle with schizoaffective disorder. In states of delusion, my father has danced on the rings of Saturn, spoken with angels, and fled from his demons. He has lived both a fantastical and haunting life, but one that's invisible to the most of us. In our differing understanding of reality, we blindly mandate his medication, assimilate him to our marginalizing culture, and entirely misinterpret him for all he is worth. CALDERA aims to not only venerate my father, but all brilliant minds forged in the haunted depths of psychosis.
HISTORY
CALDERA was helmed by Evan Viera (Director/Composer/Co-Writer) and Chris Bishop (Co-writer/Animation Supervisor/Story Artist) and was produced at Hampshire College. CALDERA was the first film to go through the Bit Films Incubator Program, where founder and professor Chris Perry (co-producer/editor) invites orphaned independent films to be made on campus with the College's students and resources. MANY students and industry professionals generously donated their time to the making of this film. See below for the full credits list.

The White Widow (2015)
Film by Fred L'Epee and Kenneth Gentry.
"The White Widow" is a psychotropic visual arts film representing the themes of mythology, mysticism, and the existential struggle. The realm is that of the subconscious, the alterations of perception, in the other-worldly than the worldly. Once upon a time the white widow at the edge of a path.

Fahrenheit 4.33 from Fred L Epee on Vimeo.
"Contemporary mythology as the representation of a catharsis. A thousand variations from human Vacuum. Translated by the definition of our identities which became amorphous. Stasis. The alteration of our psyche. Vertigo. An existential schism. The labyrinth built by Daedalus. Death is not an end in itself. Perhaps an inertia. Without reproduction. Neither transposition".
