While I do talk about on occasion how I do think prostitution should be abolished and how I think the “sex work is work” rhetoric is class reductive as prostitution isn’t just a job under capitalism but also an important part in upholding and continuing the modern family structure and the patriarchy. And while my analysis of these institutions is different to the average analysis of prostitution in leftist spaces I want to be clear my solution to this is basically identical to what the average “sex work is work” position is and it’s also the position that actual sex workers advocate for. Legalizing sex work, allowing sex workers opportunities to engage in labor organization and making sure that every sex worker has the right choose and deny any clientele for any reason.

Under socialism I also advocate for targeting the economic factors that force many women into prostitution and sex work and giving sex workers greater opportunities to exit sex work but at no point do i think an actual step on the path to the abolition of prostitution is the criminalization of prostitution, that’s not just counter productive but leads to the further marginalization of sex workers.

I believe prostitution can and should be abolished, but i believe the way to do that is to target the economic and social factors that creates prostitution in the first place and to give sex workers the power to organize and fight for their rights.
