Malayan Tigers may mate year-round, but the females attain estrus between November and March. A female Malayan Tiger's gestation period ranges between 100 and 105 days, after which a litter of 3 to 4 cubs are born. However, poaching and unsustainable development in the tiger's natural habitat have disrupted the natural reproduction cycle of the Malayan Tigers. We need to stop this and protect our national icon. 馃惎 Join us to #SaveTheMalayanTiger #malayantigers #savemalayantigercampaign #harimaumalaya #saveourmalayantigers #endangeredmalayantiger #malayantigerfacts #pemangkurajapahang #tengkuhassanal #selamatkanharimaumalaya #malayantigerpopulation2022聽

In 2021, amendments to the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 that would ensure poachers and illegal wildlife traders face higher penalties and longer duration of imprisonment received a unanimous vote from the Dewan Rakyat. The amendment increased the maximum fine from RM500,000 to RM1 million and the maximum jail term was also increased from 10 to 15 years. However, even with the harsh penalties, the Malayan Tigers (Harimau Malaya) are still not safe from the poachers. Our Harimau Malaya needs our help. Should you come across any suspicious activities endangering the Malayan Tigers, do not hesitate to contact the Pahang Wildlife Committee @ https://www.savethemalayantiger.com/contact/ 馃惎 #malayantigers #harimaumalaya #poaching #pahang #tengkuhassanal #tengkuhassanalibrahimshah #wildlife #malaysia #tigers

Tigers are territorial and usually solitary in nature. The strong odour associated with the urine sprayed by the tigers can last up to 40 days. These marked areas will function as the tiger's home range for hunting food and finding mates. 馃悈

Recently, pugmarks left by the Malayan Tigers have been discovered, which show signs of their existence in Gunung Aais. To confirm their existence, as well as the number of surviving tigers in the forests, the local authorities decided to travel deeper into the forest to investigate. However, the rivers swell up due to the rain making it impossible to travel on foot. The team had to set up their own bamboo raft to go further into the forest.
After many difficulties, the team successfully set camera traps to capture actual footage of the Malayan Tigers and disarmed snares set up by the poachers during the process. The threats to the Malayan Tigers still remain today. They are struggling to survive in their own backyard. The Malayan Tigers are important to our ecosystem and they are a national symbol of Malaysia. Together, we need to combine our strengths as Malaysian and save Harimau Malaya. 馃惎

The Malayan Tiger (Harimau Malaya) can live up to 25 years in the wild. However, it is difficult for them to survive in their natural habitat nowadays due to illegal hunting and forest degradation.
Through societal awareness comes better collective action to ensure the survival of the species. Together we can #SaveTheMalayanTiger 馃悈
