FINALLY!!
Last friday I finally got to go to Lamma island with Bobsy Gaia, we had a bit of a misunderstanding through the emails so no trees were planted :( BUT he did give my mom, friend and myself (grace) a tour of lamma forest and we were able to see all that Bobsy has done for the forest in just ten years.

These are the conversations we had with Bobsy and Anna his secretary. A few weeks ago, they replied that the Lamma Forest Tree Planting had been cancelled, due to other big groups offering in advance and having time conflicts.
However, just a few days ago, Anna replied that Bobsy said that Grace and I could go to Lamma Island with him and also have a chance to explore.
Right now, we are just arranging the dates and we are off to go!

Bad News :(
It turns out that the lamma forrest does not need any new trees this year so Bobsy has cancelled the event. We will try to find another program as quickly as possible.

On March 3rd, we taught two classes in Mr. Bourque's science class. Each for the last part of C-Core and the first part of D-Core. Currently, the Eighth Grade is learning the unit of PBL(Project Based Learning) particularly on renewable energy.   In both classes, we started off with a short introduction of our Humanities I in Action course and the basics of our Elixir project; saving the Maldives. Then, we presented the 4-minute video based on various facts about the sinking of the Maldives. Students asked some questions and we had small table group discussions going on about topics such as "What are some of the solutions we can do to prevent global warming?"
Our next step is to work on the coming up ELO, tree planting on Llama Island.

Day 6: Back from the Maldives
The Maldives was amazing! It was interesting to hear that majority of the people I talked with didn't believe in global warming. Unfortunately almost all of the people I talked to would not let me record/video tape our conversation. I was able to film two and audio record one.
Also, the date for the tree planting has been confirmed! On May 31, hopefully our entire class will be out planting trees on Lamma Island!

Day 3: Planning of Tree Planting
We called a company to find out dates for plating trees only to be told that they had held the event in December this year. Hopefully we can partner with Bobsy Gaia and plant trees with him in Lamma!

Day 2: Watching The Island President
Tumblr media
We watched the movie The Island President and it has given us an insight of what we need to do. The President was emphasizing that we need to get the Earths CO2 level needs to get to 350 ppm for the Maldives to be safe of sinking. This knowledge helps us know that as we  lessen our carbon footprint, we will be helping the cause of saving the Maldives.
