He was bored.
Bored…
That was the only word bouncing around in his head. Other than the one that was questioning why girls took so long in the shower. He was already deprived of mandatory couple time the past week due to work and now you just had to go and take a shower the second he stepped into the apartment. His thumb was pressing down on the button of the TV remote, some part of his brain processing the shows and movies he watched and the ones he didn't. You had tasked him with that before you disappeared into the bathroom thirty minutes ago—find something good to watch while you freshened up.
He ended up on a show he'd been hearing about recently and left it at that, choosing to stare up at the ceiling and wait. Was he clingy? For missing you while you were in the bathroom? No, that was just his overthinking. He missed you because he hadn't seen you in a while. He hadn't had enough quality time with one of his favorite people to be around.
The moment the bathroom door clicked open, he perked up, eyes on the hallway to catch you walking into the room. And you did, towel around your neck, dressed in pajamas that he'd gotten you, face slightly flushed from the steam from your shower, your wet hair in soft waves, your mouth moving to say something, most likely about what the two of you were going to watch—
Wait a second.
His brain backtracked.
Your… hair.
“My hair?” You asked with a tilt of your head to the side. Jisung didn't realize he said it out loud but it didn't matter because—why was your hair like that? “Like what?”
“That!” He pointed to the mess of hair on your head. “You have straight hair. I've seen you with pin straight hair for the past four months —”
“Yeah… I usually straighten it, much easier to manage,” you said matter-of-factly, as you approached the couch and perched yourself beside him. You had an amused expression on your face, Jisung's bewilderment far too entertaining to not crack a smile.
“But—but it's so pretty!” He exclaimed, eyes flying all over your head. He couldn't comprehend why you did that because, well, look at you! Now that he saw you with your natural hair, he just couldn't imagine you in any other way. It was perfect. “Like a mermaid!”
“A mermaid?” He nodded. “It's going to go away when I use a comb—”
“Then don't comb it, please?” He asked in a whiny tone, leaned close until his face was right in front of yours, his eyes seemed even bigger and more doe like than ever. “I don't know, just leave it like this, I don't care what you do. Heck, I'll even learn what to do from YouTube myself. Just… try to keep it like this from now, please?” You watched his cheeks start to turn red, making it almost impossible to resist cupping his face just so you could squish them together (he truly gave you so much cuteness aggression sometimes). “Only if you want to, of course… I don't want to make you do anything you don't like..” He added quietly, albeit he didn't sound very happy about it.
The smile on your face only grew wider. “I guess I could try… if you like it that much.”
His mood did a complete one-eighty, his eyes lighting up, you swore you saw sparkles in them, his grin so big you could see that gummy smile that he had when he was at maximum happiness. “Oh baby, you're the best. I feel like I unlocked a premium version of your Sim.”
“My what now?” You shook your head. “You've been gaming too much.”
“Too much?” He let out a dramatic gasp, hand flying to his chest and tried to look as offended as possible. He wagged his finger disapprovingly, letting out a few tuts. “Now you have to apologize. Gimme a kiss.” You snorted when he puckered up his lips and made exaggerated kissing noises, his eyes squeezed shut and looking as silly as ever. You could only roll your eyes (although he couldn't see it) before you leaned in and closed the gap between the two of you.
Your boyfriend stayed true to his word though. In the following weeks, he started to style your hair better than you ever did in your life. He couldn't stop giggling the entire time whenever he tried out a new style, and when you asked why, he would kiss your cheek or the side of your neck before saying that you wouldn't understand.
It was only after a lot of pestering from you, he recalled the time when he had a hairstyle you adored and how you fawned over it—that makes so much more sense.
