Other distinct features of this species are its very large oval ended ears, which are joined together above the head, and the light-coloured fur and wing membranes. Did you know orcas (Orcinus orca) stay with their pods for life? While a lone orca can catch a fish, penguin, or sea lion, a pod of fast-swimming orcas can bring down a larger whale! There are other advantages to living in a pod: for example, these marine mammals will share the duties of rearing young and caring for the sick. Orcas can live to be 50+ years old.
