I am going to attend SCAD Fall 2021 and I am going to be in the equestrian Riding team. How would I go about finding a roommate on the team?

I was accepted to attend SCAD, however, I do not have the means to pay for the school as of now. Can I start taking classes in a community college and transfer credits, when I am ready. Do I have to reapply or my acceptance letter will be enough to transfer credit and continue in SCAD.

We enroll many transfer students each quarter! You would need to reapply as a transfer student when you are ready to come to SCAD. We will review the transcripts from the community college to determine what transfer credit we can award you. If you have further questions, please email admission@scad.edu

I am an incoming non-binary freshman filling out the residence questionnaire- when it asks if I’m “interested in rooming with someone regardless of gender identity/expression” what is it asking necessarily? I’m more than comfortable rooming with someone who is also trans, but my parents would prefer that I don’t room with anyone AMAB.

SCAD is committed to providing a safe and nondiscriminatory environment to all students and treats all students with respect and dignity. SCAD provides housing consistent with gender identity and makes housing decisions on a case-by-case basis.  If a student does not provide information regarding gender identity on the housing application, the student's legal sex, which is the student's designated sex on a birth certificate, identified on the admissions application is used as gender identity for purposes of housing assignments. For the purpose of determining housing assignments, we are asking students to complete the supplemental housing application to best match students and potential roommates. Questions? I’m looking to try out for the equestrian team but I have very little show experience. Will that effect my ability to join the team?

Can i defer enrollment?

Applications are valid for three consecutive quarters without having to reapply. For example, if you apply for fall 2021, the application could be rolled to winter 2022 or spring 2022. Beyond that, you would have to reapply.

What does medium & size mean? While in the proceedings of submitting the portfolio

Medium refers to what type of elements were used to create the piece; ie. did you use oil, computer (what software), photography, etc

If you are submitting photography, size would be N/A. For other work such as jewelry, paintings or print, you would want to indicate the actual size of the piece.

are there any pre requisites at scad that i could potentially take at a community college first? (ie math science history etc)

Yes! Please email transfercourserec@scad.edu to speak with a transfer evaluator about what classes to take at your local college to ensure they will transfer to SCAD.

Are the Forty apartment dorms only for upperclassmen or can freshmen stay there too?

FORTY is a coeducational residence hall and is available for first-year, continuing and graduate students.

Are the Forty dorms co-ed? If yes, are the genders separated by hall?

Yes, Forty is a coeducational residence hall is available for first-year, continuing and graduate students. Genders are separated by floor.

I've been accepted for the summer 2020 term and I've only paid my enrollment fee so far. Is there anyway for me to defer my attendance until the fall 2020 term instead?

You will need to contact your admission adviser and ask to roll your application to fall 2020. If you do not know who your adviser is, please email admission@scad.edu

Does it matter to recruiters if I say I graduated from the Atlanta campus as opposed to the main Savannah one? Is there somehow a lack of prestige or recognition to say I studied at the ATL campus?

Not at all! Your diploma does not state which campus you graduated from. Having a degree from SCAD is highly regarded!

Hello. I am an aspiring applicant. I fully intend to submit my portfolio for scholarship consideration and apply for grants, but I do not qualify for financial aid because of my parent's salaries, but they have made it clear that they are not helping me out or even cosigning a loan for my education. And advice?

Once you apply, your admission adviser will help you explore all the ways to fund your education. Completed admission application files will automatically be considered for academic scholarships. To be considered for an achievement-based scholarship, students should submit one or both of the following:    *A list that includes: awards, honors, accolades and recognitions and year received; active participation in clubs or other activities; a description of volunteer or community service performed; internships or job experience and those accomplishments achieved during that employment. *A portfolio of artwork; performing arts audition; writing examples; or equestrian riding video.

We also accept many outside scholarships. There are many ways to find outside scholarship opportunities. A commonly used scholarship database is www.fastweb.com.

Can motion media students rent out camera equipment?

Yes, equipment is available for rent to current students.

Does scad’s photography building have chemicals available for developing?

How does paying for on-campus living work with roommates? Is the price split by number of occupants (double/triple occupancy) or is each student billed the same full amount listed on the website?

The amount you see at https://www.scad.edu/admission/tuition-and-fees/undergraduate is the annual cost per student. It is not split between roommates.

When will my financial aid refund get deposited?

Refunds are available to students the second week of each quarter. Students may elect to have their credit balance refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts in order to avoid delays in receiving funds. To set up direct deposit for student credit balance refunds, students may log into MySCAD > My Info tab > My Student Account channel > "Direct Deposit for Student Refunds" link.
