Beneath The Sun

One beautiful morning, Sheila, a 19-year-old girl from Los Angeles, California, was relaxing in the comfort of her room. She was just looking out the window, unlike other young girls her age who were out with friends and incredibly active on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Tiktok. She has a lovely face, but she is too hesitant to interact with other people since she has a secret that only a few people understand. Sheila isn't your ordinary adolescent. She has a serious sickness called " Xeroderma Pigmentosum," which is a hereditary affliction in which the body's capacity to repair DNA damage produced by UV radiation is impaired. When sunlight strikes her skin, it can easily burn, resulting in severe sunburn. That is why she grew up spending all of her time in her room. But, like other young ladies, she begins to worry how ordinary people are outperforming. Because she can see everyone enjoying their lives outside her window, while she feels miserable and lonely. So she sneaks outdoors one night while her parents are sleeping and there is no sunlight. She is fascinated by what she sees while walking. She ultimately settled down in a park to play her beloved guitar. Since her hobby is playing guitar, singing and composing songs. She was just having fun that night, anticipating that others would notice her excellent singing. Then there was this young man named Patrick, who was really captivated by Sheila's singing voice. He wants to approach her, but it's almost 12 a.m., and Sheila hastily returns home, fearful that her parents would discover her sneaking out in the middle of the night. Patrick is always waiting for Sheila at the park where he first met her as a result of that experience. They weren't in that circumstance till they bumped into each other by mistake. They are caught off guard by one another's presence. That was the time when Patrick had to overcome his nervousness in order to speak with Sheila. Surprisingly, they have similar vibes and personalities, and they both enjoy music, particularly acoustic. The next night, they are always in each other's company, sharing many experiences, moments, and life events, but Sheila never tells Patrick about her conditions because she doesn't want to get to the point where if he knew about her conditions, he might not see her again because she is also developing some attachment to him. Until Patrick asked her out on a date in the morning, which she couldn't accept to even if she wanted to, so she just walked out and left Patrick hanging. So Patrick waits anxiously for her in the park the next night, but she never shows up after that encounter. As a

result, Patrick gets quite depressed. He was merely wandering around the streets every day until he noticed Sheila peeking out her window again. However, when she sees Patrick, she quickly flees, and a few minutes later, Patrick knocks on their door. Her father then opens the door and inquires as to who he is. "I'm Sheila's friend, might I have a minute to speak with her?" Patrick said. ".Her father was baffled as to how her daughter could have a friend if she didn't go out. So he just gets on it and tells him to go inside while he calls Sheila from upstairs. Then, right there in the middle of their conversation, Sheila reveals the truth about her behavior the night before. Patrick, on the other hand, does want to embrace it wholeheartedly because he is growing feelings for Sheila. As a result, they agree to only meet at night, when there is no sunlight. But one day, Sheila starts a conversation by asking, "How does it feel to be in the sun?" ”. Sheila asks Patrick for a favor that she will treasure till the end of her life because she wants to experience everything before her health worsens. Patrick first refuses to comply, but Sheila is insistent about it, and this will make her very happy, so Patrick agrees and rents a boat so that they may sail early in the morning when the sun is just rising. In that very moment, Sheila can’t explain her happiness she just enjoy and cherish that moment with Patrick. Sheila died unexpectedly a few days later. When Patrick found out, he was shocked and depressed, so Sheila's father handed him a notepad in which Sheila created a song specifically for Patrick. Then Patrick makes a promise to himself that Sheila would always hold a particular place in his heart, no matter what.
