art is when an anime character is drawn by a human being and put on an acrylic keychain. degradation of the human soul is when the anime character is created by a piece of software. when something other than an anime character is drawn . . . ? i don't know about that one. i don't know about that. seems like the kind of thing that could be art possibly but i'd need to know a little bit more of the political stances of everyone involved with the ordeal before i can make my decision.

"i hope they both lose" or whatever parks and rec meme phrase you use to express that sentiment is not a good analysis of the disney-universal midjourney lawsuit because it is a legal case, not a football match -- the stakes are not abstract, nebulous "wins" or "losses" for the (all certainly very loathsome) parties involved but a specific legal precedent that if set will vastly expand the scope of u.s. copyright law (which because of its position as global hegemon, affects the whole world). it is not about if disney or midjourney Win, it is about whether or not the legal basis for transformative work is comprehensively eroded to an unprecedented degree!

Women in umineko are all beautiful extremely complicated morally grey characters that you have to spend 70 hours with to even begin to fully see and all the men are like “wahaha I’m doing financial crimes because I love money!!! Wahaha I love my morally grey wife” and honestly I respect that in a writer.

I bet it feels so good to be a visual novel character and change to a drastically different sprite for emphasis during conversation

RIP to a legend! I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about John Redcorn as a character, but I’ve always loved him, especially the complexity about his relationship with the Gribble family and his deeply terrible rock music. The writers took their time, but John Redcorn ended up as a three dimensional character, not just an indigenous stereotype or Nancy’s sexy Lothario, and I think Jonathan Joss’ performance helped facilitate that transition. Even though it seems like his acting career had slowed in the past few years, he was only 59 and it’s a tragedy for his end to come from such senseless violence.
I’d also like to take a moment to remember Victor Aaron, the original voice actor for John Redcorn, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in 1996 at only 39 years old. He only had the opportunity to appear in two episodes, but the character was roughly based on him. I don’t really believe in curses, but it’s definitely a sad coincidence both our John Redcorns died so young and so suddenly.
