Any type of business, if it’s just starting or even if it’s going on for a while. Eyeballing the Pareto principle, the book is made of 20% cosmetics advice and 80% general business advice. I diluted this because many of us think that it is enough to find an e-mail of a lab and our job is done. But it barely started. Looking for the information about how to start a cosmetic line or a cosmetic business I hit a dead end even before I started. There are some books, but they are either too short, badly rated, missing the topic or just meant for someone else. This book is for a cosmetics entrepreneur who is only starting up his or hers business. You will learn all the details of the process which takes you from your idea to your product. What you need to be, what you must be on the lookout for when dealing with laboratories, about a business plan, marketing and funding. It will help you to become more familiar with the process of creating your own product in cooperation with a laboratory. You will get insight in the things you need to do and some hidden costs of doing business in this field. This book is also for someone who has already started working with cosmetics, but is lacking in some areas. Maybe you want to better understand the process that is going on behind the scenes or maybe you want to explore more options of raising funds or maybe you are curious about marketing. In this book we speak about 34 different possibilities of marketing your products and 15 different ways of getting funds. I do address certain attributes of a person that are beneficial for this business, but do not let that discourage you. Even if you aren’t like that in nature now, many of those attributes can be acquired, trained and nurtured. I do not address in great detail how you would be formulating your products. So, while I do believe that this book will be helpful for most of the things that are concerning the starting of the business in cosmetics and business in general, this book is not for the chemist aficionado.

‘Angrily,’ looks like a great mix of personal and fictional story.  Any plans for a follow up or series?

I’m not quite sure if there should be a follow up. I feel the story ends perfectly, and does not need any further development. Moreover, the story is based on personal events, and the book ends sort of where my life is at right now.

What do you think makes a great story?

Being absolutely in love with your story is what makes a great story. If there’s any doubt in what you write, it will be noticed by others, thus affecting a potentially great story. Raw and personal emotions are a great way to convey the main message of a story. Characters that will stick with you for years, because of something that makes them stand out. There really isn’t a correct answer. Great stories are felt in the heart.

What inspired you when writing ‘Angrily?’

This was a personal journey for me. I’ve been wanting to share this terrible experience with others, I just wasn’t sure how.  I thought about doing it through poetry. Instead, I chose to incorporate my poems within the book. There were so many routes I was going to go with this, but what truly inspired me was my niece. She is the light of my world. She’s 11 years old, and just to think that what happened to me, can happen to her upsets me. And that was the emotion I felt while writing the book.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?  Full time?  Part time?

I thought it would just be a one time only deal, but numerous ideas are coming to mind, and I’m going to continue writing for as long as I can.

When did you decide to become a writer?

When I was 22, I was drinking heavily, and I was getting myself into all sorts of trouble. I felt depressed and hopeless. One day, I just wrote about it. Since then, writing has been my coping mechanism; it makes me happy.

When writing ‘Angrily,’ did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

Angrily deals with some sensitive issues, including rape and self harm. Recounting certain events was extremely uncomfortable for me. Even trying to proof read that particular part of the story was very challenging.

What do you like to do when not writing?

I enjoy anything paranormal. I love horror movies. I’m also a great cook; it’s a stress reliever. I love experimenting with different flavors.

How can readers discover more about you and your work?

As of now, there’s not much about me since this is my first book. However, I’m already working on a second story, which will be a novel, as opposed to a short story.

Mark Stephen Pooler has a remarkable story.  He has survived the type of hardship most of us only see in movies, from being bullied from a young age, combating severe drug addiction and even cheating death.  Now he works tirelessly to help others overcome adversity and bring out the brilliance that shines in each and every one of us.

By the age of 15 the bullying had taken it’s toll. Mark’s confidence had hit rock bottom.  He had undergone several cosmetic procedures to try and improve his appearance and was struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.  He left school with bad grades and the downward spiral into drug addiction began to take hold.

On leaving school, Mark trained as a hairdresser and started working for big name brands in leading hair salons.  By the time he reached his late teens/early twenties he his addiction was spiraling out of control – using crack cocaine and heroin so he didn’t have to live in reality of his life.

At 21 Mark was at his lowest point. He was rushed into hospital as his heart had stopped.  Against the odds he made it back and realised that things had to change. He vowed (and succeeded) to give up hard drugs, although he continued to use soft drugs for the next six years.  At age 27 he was finally able to kick the soft drugs too.

Following Mark’s hospitalisation and rehabilitation from drug use, he continued with his hairdressing career.  However he embarked on a huge journey of personal development.  Thus started a freelance career in hairdressing in 2013.

Though he went on to build a successful hairdressing business and built a business in network marketing it seemed that misfortune continued to plague Mark.  He faced relationship break downs, struggled with debt and found himself having to make more and more dramatic changes and ended up having to sell his home to start turning his business around.

Once Mark had got his business back on track and operating successfully he still felt something was missing.  Suffering loss of jobs in his career, relationship breakdowns in business and personal life and having many dramatic life changes he knew a new direction was needed.  He realised he was not following his true passion in 2017 made a big change in direction deciding to follow his true passion of helping and inspiring others.

With a vast amount of knowledge, business skills and life experience to draw on, Mark embarked on a mission:  To help professionals to create brilliance out of adversity.
