stoned and autistic at a party trying to make conversation: I find the comparative lifespan of organisms so interesting. Spiders are comparatively long lived animals. Female black widows can live up to 3 years but their male counterparts rarely live four months. Some tarantulas live upwards of 20 years. The longest lived spider was around 43 years old when she was cruelly assassinated by a parasitic wasp. Domestic rats have a lifespan comparable to female black widows. To put things into perspective, there are spiders that remember a pre-pandemic world but it is likely every rat on earth was born post-COVID. There could be a spider out there born when Reagan was in office.

i dont believe in gender for real its just a fetish thing to me
#i unironically believe this actually#like the gender binary boasts a lot of arbitrary traits that don't really exist in a vacuum#i'm not sayinh people that partake in gender expression for gender euphoria partake in fetishisation or anything of that nature#but the categorisation of genders and their roles across a binary (A BINARY not a spectrum. im attacking the binary rn)#to me that feels like a whole fetish#because they're not actually that arbitrary but in fact always seem to play into a power dynamic#power dynamics that are accentuated in sexual contexts#and across cultures that seems to be a unifying factor.#and thus the destruction of the gender binary DOES in fact break this power dynamic#by understanding as a spectrum and thus less as an immutable rule a person can exert their own force of will and self-determination#which destroys that very power dynamic with gender roles. breaking those roles DOES allow for emancipation#and thus my understanding is breaking gender roles (which are inherently fetishistic at times) can bring freedom
