Remilia really needed to find a better way to occupy herself while waiting for Sakuya, of whom she was certain would show herself in the city sooner or later. That was what she told herself to bide the time, a simple repeated self-denial of any other possibility that kept her from drifting into more curmudgeonly or otherwise negative moods. She didn’t enjoy any sort of sadness that she hadn’t self-induced of her own volition and therefore couldn’t immediately reverse when it suited her whim, or else there was no point and no fun to be found in being sad.
Now, however, she was still thinking about her precious head maid and finding an involuntary mood of sorts creeping into her mind; no matter how she willed it, the gloom of repeatedly thinking about something she could not simply fix through force of will or her own desire had made her feel something between irritation and slight depression, and that in itself made her more irritable overall. The sound of footsteps intruding on her silence up here on one of the rooftops of one of the lower buildings (still high enough, given that she could see a fair distance in all directions, even in the twilight) in Hive City escalated that irritation into anger.
<<Can you not find another rooftop? I’ve decided this one is mine, and you can’t have it.>> Remilia realizes she’s stamping her foot as she turns and stops, then eyes the stranger carefully, mindful that she’s behaving rather improperly in front of someone else.

<<I suppose you can be up here, as well,>> she manages, in what she hopes sounds magnanimous of her, <<if you behave and are quiet. And stay out of my way.>>

<<No matter what holiday comes next, I’d like for there to be a party to attend. I need something to do.>> Never mind that she’s still miffed she can’t host one herself, in her own mansion. Back at home.

Remilia feels as if she’s been wasting time just wandering around the city; the time of day hasn’t made much difference in her activities thanks to her parasol, leading to a lot of generalized trickery of the sort a human child might perpetuate. She would like to attribute her unbecoming (in her own mind, at least; this wasn’t how a noble-lady of the night should behave) behavior to both boredom and lack of the land and cast of servants she was accustomed to having. Forced to roam the night like a common vampire was beneath her, and that was a perfectly valid reason to misbehave.
At least, that was how she chose to justify it. Rolling over at the top of a stone wall forming the barrier between a deserted street and a neglected garden someone had forgotten, Remilia leans out over the street side to peer out below. There’s a boy, looking entirely too young to be outside at this time of night by human standards, walking along, and she just can’t quite help herself.
<<Little boy,>> she says, propping herself up on her elbows, <<you should reconsider being outside at night.>>

Remilia finds the novelty of the city only able to entrance her in bits and pieces; here and there her excitement is piqued by some trinket or the antics of the lively inhabitants of the Hive, but more often than not it has little to keep her. It helps her not at all to think of how terribly lonely everything has been without her most darling and prized maid, either, and she fidgets while lost in thought and nearly fumbles her parasol in broad daylight: a disaster to be sure, averted by quick thoughts and quicker reflexes.
For a moment, she’s certain she made out without anyone witnessing her briefly undignified moment, but then spots the man nearby. Whether or not he has actually noticed does not matter; no, Remilia immediately assumes he has and scowls in his direction, despite his rather blank features.
<<Do you have nothing better to do with your time? Someone or something you have obligations to?>> She eyes his clothes, looks up and down, and makes an overly-exaggerated disgusted face.
Tumblr media
<<You’re awfully well-dressed for one of the people around here. Maybe you could almost be on the level of my Sakuya in terms of fashion taste. Maybe.>>

There’s something strange about this woman, but she can’t quite place her finger on it. Something ethereal and yet powerful lies behind that calm facade, but Remilia hasn’t the faintest idea as to who she is -- or what she is, for that matter. A human guise is an easy one to take on by most otherworldly creatures, and she would hazard a guess that there’s at least the slightest chance she isn’t human.
That, and she just doesn’t have an appetizing scent.

<<You. I recall your face.>> Remilia’s tone is accusatory in nature, as she points a finger toward the girl before her. It’s evening and so few others are out -- exactly her favorite time of night -- that it makes the process of identifying the miscellaneous residents of Gensokyou a breeze. That and, even if she hadn’t recognized the girl, Remilia may have been tempted to conjure a reason to interact solely for the sake of excitement.

After the rather discourteous introduction to this city, Remilia still can’t say she’s particularly upset other than for the fact that she’s been whisked away from her mansion without permission. She’d like to act out a bit simply for the sake of doing so but, lack of her own strength and magic aside, this seems like quite the opportunity to sate her usual boredom.
But, all the same, it’s not nearly so enjoyable without -- Well, that’s a familiar presence. Even dulled as she is, the vampire recognizes her servant by scent alone before she appears.
<<Sakuya... You should be guarding the mansion.>> It’s meant to sound stern, but her jolly expression betrays her words quickly.
Tumblr media
<<Though I suppose it’s good you’re here, too, or else I’d have no one to help me when the rain comes. Now, where will I be staying? I assume you’ve procured me a place far more luxurious than our home already.>>
