Greetings! I recently made a pyramid head costume for a con and was wondering if you would be willing to share the method to your madness concerning the creation of your skirt and sword? Specifically what material you made them out of.
Sorry for the delay.  I'm happy to share my methods/info, there should be no secrets in cosplay!
The skirt was made with marine vinyl which you can probably find at any fabric shop.  It's a bit pricey at $18/yd but I was going for something that looked like skin. There were other, less expensive vinyls but they didn't look quite as good. I actually made the skirt twice because I didn't really know what I was doing and didn't get enough vinyl the first time.  Two yards each of two different colors for the contrasting effect.  I think mine are called 'French Vanilla' & 'Tan'.  Not sure about the other types, but the vinyl I used I was able to draw on the backside with a sharpie to get an idea of how the random shapes would fit together.  Cut out, punched holes and hand stitched with twine.  If you have a soldering iron, that works perfect for the holes.  A lot faster than punching with a awl and hammer.  The vinyl is surprisingly tough. I made a channel on the inner waistband that I fed a nylon rope through so I had a way to cinch & tie.  I stained the twine stitching after everything was complete with a mix of red & black tempura paint, basically watercolor.  For the bloody/dirty look on the skirt I used Heritage Red and regular black Rustoleum spray paint.  A bit of finesse on the spray nozzle for small splatters/drips, spray on your hand & flick/drag your fingers for the smears, more red along the stitches.  WEAR GLOVES!!!  Paint didn't stick to vinyl very well, so it needed a few coats of clear to seal it.  Makes it nice and shiny, but was a little sticky.  I think acrylic spray paint my adhere better.  Maybe if I make a third one...
Both swords were made with blue styrofoam insulation from Lowe's. A single 2'x'8'x2" sheet for about $20 was enough for both.  Cuts easily with a razor knife, like the ones with an extending, snap-off blade.  Sand to smooth finish. Seal it with a couple coats of gesso or else the spray paint will eat into it.  Handles were cut/carved from a 2x4.  My first handle, with the curves, took me 5 hours to make.  All I have is a zip saw, a Dremmel & sand paper.  That's pretty much why my other one is a lot simpler design.  Attaching them to the blades was kinda tricky, you'll want to make sure it has a tang for support.  Best if you look at the pics on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/humpingrobot for how I did that (shamless plug), but you may come up with a better way.  Check my albums and the "Other Project: Pyramid Head"
Hopefully that helps you out, let me know if you have any other questions
