if your activism for acceptance of disordered folk ends once they're no longer recovering or aren't recovering fast enough for your liking you aren't actually advocating for anyone, you're trying to force people into boxes of neurotypical-like behaviour. no matter your intention with this, whether it's out of your own disgust for their symptoms or wanting them to be "safer" in society at large, you aren't helping.
if somebody with a disorder actively harms others — even if these actions are brought on by their symptoms — your hatred of them should stem from that, not their disorder. if you decide they shouldn't be included in your activism because they aren't your idealistic puppet, then that's ableism.

people think paranoia is tinfoil hats and conspiracy theories. but no. its an island. its being surrounded by loving people with genuine intentions and being so so so painfully lonely because you're TERRIFIED of the idea that everybody either secretly hates you or wants to hurt you. and you're convinced you deserve it anyways because you're the scum of the earth but you're still avoiding it because you're a coward who can't face the truth. it's begging people to just insult you or doxx you or hit you or whatever because you just wanna get it over with instead of sitting there anticipating 'the inevitable'. it's being attracted to people who abuse you because 'they're the only ones telling the truth'.

I swear the people who are less XYZ disabled speaking over the top of people with the more severe form of the same thing is like, damn near universal. Yes, having a voice and a seat at the table is hard, but you don't have to try and snatch your turn to speak from people who literally can't or pull the seat out from under people who can't fight back.

This is going to be hard for a lot of people to hear but if you want to make your spaces safer for disabled people, then you need to stop assuming malice from every poorly worded post.
A lot of neurodivergencies and disabilities cause people to ramble, lose their train of thought very easily, go on tangents, have disordered thinking, etc. We can get words and names mixed up very easily, lose words entirely, struggle to put our thoughts into actual words that make sense to people, and lose track of conversations. Whether it's from ADHD, psychosis, brain fog, brain damage, or any other condition, thinking and verbalizing ourselves can be really fucking hard.
This isn't malicious. We aren't doing it on purpose to hurt or upset people, and we aren't ignorant about the topic just because we get mixed up. We deserve to have voices, even if we don't always make sense to other people.

do you guys ever get weirdly intrusive hypothetical situations that play out in your brain? and then later, your perception of your own experiences are so bad that they feel just as real as anything else that ACTUALLY happened that day?
like, not hallucinations. i don't actually experience any of it. it really is akin to a really vivid, long-winded intrusive thought train.

media and people need learn more about ableist language especially toward cognitive and intellectual disabilities. this whole new tiktok trend especially with audio "is it... stupid? or is it... slow.." like. no. can make your points about people being ignorant, uneducated, bigoted ect without ableism. BOTH words yes BOTH stupid especially no matter how much word been normalised is ableist ESPECIALLY when referring towards people and "slow" in this context also ableism. all of you need think take step back and actually acknowledge because whatever doing here isnt so progressive amazing empowering being right whatever thing, you're using ableist terminology. all these words, stupid, slow, moron — all ableism.

Something strangely enlightening about being at the psych ward and being considered a "good patient" for part of my time is that different in power people working there tried to include me in their "in crowd" jokes and…like...
I was judging most of them for working there in the first place, ngl. It was literally like a fucking prison. There were people there from prison who repeatedly said they would rather be back in prison than there.
But talking to and having nurses and doctors and attendants try to pull me into the little "in crowd" was so fucking scary. Hearing them joke about other patients, hearing them talk among themselves...The amount of them who held genuine distain for all the patients, who were talking about actual fucking eugenics on the regular was fucking horrifying.
I was legit dealing with someone who wanted to rape me on the regular and he was not as scary as the woman who pulled me aside to explain to me she thought I was a good patient, in the wrong hospital, because this place was for people who "didn't belong in society" and how they would either get them on meds so they could become "proper citizens" or they would stay in and out of solitary the rest of their lives.
I've never felt so fucking helpless in my life. Using what little leverage I had to help patients being treated like shit was like walking a tightrope and I feel awful for every single one of them forced to stay there and endure that treatment.
I don't give AF why they were there, no one there fucking deserved the shit that was going on.

i love reading media analysis and i used to do it when i was able to but comprehension coming easily to you is not a trait that makes you Better than people who need things broken down small for them. drives me nuts
probably my Least favorite thing people imply or outright say when talking about "media literacy" is that not engaging with the text in an analytical or critical manner makes you "ignorant" or sometimes they jump all the way to straight up insults of intelligence. like okay we get it you were a gifted kid who wrote good essays and thought that made you better than your classmates

youre not a bad person for not always engaging in complex/difficult themes when you watch a tv show and obviously like. youre not a bad person if you DO either. stop moralizing media analysis because no matter how you phrase that take you are going to shit all over people with cognitive or intellectual disability
legitimately i do think i hate both sides of the whole "media is escapism/media is NOT escapism" argument that gets people so heated on this site. like man i think it depends on the media and also an individual persons personality and how they engage with things they enjoy

its hard being a #hater when it seems like everyone else that also hates things i hate has to bring ableist petty insults into the mix
like dude youre not better just because you are more mentally capable of interpreting complex themes. you can be annoyed at different/'incorrect' interpretations without having a superiority complex
