An alien? Carina just managed to catch herself from dropping her much too-expensive coffee. "Dio mio," she murmured to herself. "This city gets crazier by the day." She took a deep breath. "You had me fooled," she looked around at the people continuing on with their day, not having heard what she just heard. "Fellow human," Carina added in for good measure.
@schvitzy-txrtle [Pleakley + Carina]
"Well, hello there fellow human." Pleakley wiggled his eyebrows, smiling a bit. "How was that? Did you think I was an average human being and not an alien disguised as one?"

Carina froze, her hand under the soap dispenser. Were they talking to her? She looked around at the hospital bathroom. There didn't seem to be anyone else in here. Carina supposed she might as well answer. "Sometimes I feel that way for sure, but occasionally it's good."

"I swear, why do people feel the need to say every single stupid thought that pops into their head?" Kate rolled her eyes as she fixed her ponytail. "Do you feel that way too, or is it just me?"

Carina smiled at the other. "Of course, no problem. You should keep at it!" She hoped that the other would appreciate her genuine feedback and keep working on her hobbies. Carina knew that too many young women got discouraged by a lack of positivity.
Carina smiled at the other. "I feel like some girls go through phases with liking makeup and not liking it. I wasn't so sure I liked it either for a while, but I'm glad you're having fun with it." She smiled wide again.

Carina shook her head. "It looks a little," she paused for a bit, looking for the right word in English before giving up. "It's not as bad as you think, I promise. This makeup stuff just takes practice, sometimes more than we want."

She was walking by, looking for the right office, but Carina immediately stopped when she saw another person sitting at a desk, looking completely exhausted. They were surrounded by papers, so she wasn't sure if she should bother them. But what the heck, this city was crazy, and she needed more friends and more information. "Are you okay?" Carina asked softly, trying not to startle the other.

Gwen hadn't slept in a few days, which wasn't new. She often went without sleep every now and then. Gwen had papers scattered around her desk as she was looking for any signs of family members or friends. She was looking for her cousin, mainly because she was worried when he was gone for long periods.

"I feel like I did my make-up in the dark," tori groaned, shaking her head. "I think I have just got to hang up trying to be creative and stick to what I know. That's what I get for trying something new, huh?"

"Oh, absolutely. It's like clockwork." Faye shook her head and raised her eyebrows as she took out the sandwich she'd hastily thrown together before her shift. "With the plastics people all tied up, they have me stitching up lacs that come in and on other minor cases."
Faye sighed with relief, the weight of the crowded ER and a long shift weighing on her. "That would be perfect, thanks." She closed the door behind her with one hand, her brown-bagged lunch clutched tight in the other. "It seems like everyone is hurting themselves in one way or another today." Faye shook her head.

Carina forced herself to smile back. The other seemed nice enough, but between Maya and Andrea, she'd experienced enough chaos for a lifetime even before appearing in Washington DC. "Maybe I just don't have enough experience with the right kind of chaos."
Carina was a bit taken a back by the other's attitude towards what had happened at the ball. But she was more surprised by the fact that a part of her agreed with Cami. Maybe it was her loneliness speaking, but Carina said, "you know, I wasn't expecting to say this, but, within reason, I agree with you. A little chaos of the good kind couldn't hurt." She was definitely glad to not be affected by the cherub.

Faye smiled. So she hadn't ruined things yet. Yet. There was still a chance, though. "Okay, that sounds good. I still don't know the good places around here, so I can find you before clocking out at the end of shift." Should she say anything else? Probably not. Alex seemed to be joking about it not being awkward, but she really didn't want to mess up one of the good friendships that she had here.
"Yeah," Faye finished closing out her chart before smiling at Alex. "Everything's fine. And, uh, if you ever want to hang out, that's chill too." Wait, is that making things awkward, Faye wondered. "You don't have to, obviously, I was just saying maybe, if you were-" Faye cut herself off, mentally facepalming. So much for not making things awkward. Great job, she thought sarcastically.

"I've been here just under a month too, and," Faye shivered. "Some of my patients have had similar symptoms. It's odd, to say the least. I don't like it either." Penelope's husband not remembering her? That had to be beyond painful in a way that Faye couldn't imagine.
Faye nodded with her eyes wide. "Yeah, things are definitely chaotic here." And this was from a former surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, which was seemingly the unluckiest hospital in the world. From the look on the other's face, Faye couldn't help but wonder what she had seen, both in D.C. and before. "I haven't been here long, but I can't figure this place out."

Carina smiled back at Andy. Despite all of the ups and downs in their relationship, she too hoped that Maya would join her soon in Washington. Liam missed his other mom, and with this other baby coming soon, she would definitely need the help.
Carina opened her mouth before closing it. She wasn't sure how to tell Andy, or this version of Andy or whoever she is, about Maya and how she isn't here with her. "Ah, my wife is back in Seattle. At least, I assume. I wish she was here too, but I-" Carina stopped herself before she said any more. She didn't know how much Andy knew.

"did you want to hang out here?" charlotte looked at the other with a raised eyebrow, her lunch for her break scattered in front of her in a bit of a disarray. "this is the perfect place to hide away if you're trying to avoid the cafeteria crowds during break and i promise i don't mind sharing."

"Oh wow," Carina mused. The Andy she knew was proudly born and raised in Seattle... but this was not her business if this Andy was from this strange city. Still, it would be nice to have a familiar face so far from Seattle. "I'm from Italia, but I lived in Seattle for a while with my brother," Carina paused, feeling Andrea's absence for a minute. "And with my wife."

"and here I thought that things at home were chaotic," Penelope sighed slightly. she was no stranger to fighting or wars - she was from sparta after all and her husband had killed all of the men who had presented themselves as suitors throughout the twenty years he'd been gone. "but this place is strange,"

"I really hope chaotic things keep happening in this city," cami grinned. "that whole ball thing with the floating cherub was entertaining, especially with so many people spilling secrets,"

Faye smiled slightly at the sight of Alex Karev in front of her. They hadn't really gotten to hang out at the event, but she was glad that if she was going to be stuck with a weirdo for her blind date, it was at least a weirdo that she knew wasn't going to do anything bad. "Nope, I'm just updating my charts until the next major trauma comes in. But the charts can wait." She typed a couple more words into the computer, then fully faced Alex.

"Yes, it is very strange," Carina agreed, still confused about seeing who she thought was a friend from Seattle. However, still being wiped out from the event, as well as from taking care of Liam all night afterwards, Carina wasn't sure that this was all just some long, crazy, detailed dream. "Have you lived in D.C. long?" she asked.
