Intercellular Laser Cut

So we decided to create a a sign that can show how a community can create this product together. We wanted it to look a bit like road signs and symbols to reflect a kind of infrastructure aesthetic. Before making this we also considered making it 3D. maybe making a 3D model of the infrastructure, however because of time restraints this was our best option.

Observing Nature

I went around the campus and observed nature. I watched it. Looked at it. Looked at it systems. How can this be adapted. I looked at flowers. I looked at the way it moves towards the sun. I saw how some plants survive with less light. Can we adapt this so that it our solar panels become more efficient. Move to get the best sunlight possible. Can we use less light and get more energy?

Presentation feedback

We received pretty good feedback from the presentation. 

The main areas we need to work on in the last few weeks of the module are the following:

- Find a design concept that can be exhibited.

We need something that is visual from a design concept to show in the final exhibition. We are thinking of doing a video on the making of this plastic. Make it as a kind of advert. Maybe use some of the videos on the bio design challenge website to aid us. 

- Work out finer details like, how much hair would be need to be collected to make the plastic. Make sure it is realistic. further research will aid this 

- Further develop designs for the infrastructure of the community project and show this with our design skills. 

- Complete the website 

Some other points that were brought up was that it needed finer tuning. Just a clearer project. Right now its still very complicated. There was also the idea that using other sources of keratin like chicken feathers. 

I feel our main aim is to tidy up and work on the design aspect of the project.

Infrastructure

we are currently working on designs for possible infrastructure to work with the community 

These designs were started by Luke Hurlock. It is something we are continuing to design however the aim is to create job within a wide range of specialities.
