reminder to self shippers that you don’t even need to be in the social circles for the community. you don’t need to be on self ship tumblr or twitter 24/7 to self ship, you can do it with a small little group of friends or all on your own. you don’t need to share everything, you can be private and still just as valid and loved as anyone else. sometimes online spaces can be scary or harmful, you don’t need to be too involved in them if you can’t find any positive feeling in the culture of it. some benefit off of how things are in the community, and some don’t…and it’s okay if you want to be more reserved or do things in your own peace. you can do that, y’know, be in your own space and enjoy what makes you happy in your own way.

Maybe your f/o is from a series with a fandom that's gone dormant. Maybe you don't feel "heard" by the greater community no matter how you reach out. Perhaps you struggle to interact and connect with others. Or you don't create things of your ship like art or writing. Or maybe you have difficulty opening up. f/o who can’t help but push you away everytime you come too close— for them, you’re the moth and they’re the burning flame, and they know your relationship would never end well, or that they don’t deserve to be by someone like you. they try all sorts of things like avoiding you or being rude to try and keep that distance.

but somehow you get into their heart anyway, and finally being with you just makes them want to try. even if it may be hard at first to be honest with you or open up about things that they’ve kept bottled up for maybe a long time, they realize that you’re trying your best too, whether it’s with being by their side or persevering through your own struggles. they know that you’re worth trying for.
