No, Not Infront!
by Chabelita Aviquivil
Being placed in one of the seats in the first row during exams is one of the most nerve-racking experiences a student could ever think of. But there is something worse than that, my greatest nightmare, and it is having a seat face-to-face with the test master. As in the only thing that separates you is the teacher’s table. Meaning, your actions will be the most evident to her because you are the very first person she’ll notice.
I was half startled, half nervous when our teacher announced that our seating arrangement will be alphabetically arranged for the periodical exam. I was like, “Why tho?”, “I thought we’ll be having the original seating arrangement”, “What the?…”. Obviously, I was pretty shooked and I felt like my knees are going to give up on the spot. I remembered that there are 7 columns of chairs, meaning, whichever chair the seating arrangement starts, I’ll still have to be in the center. That’s when I started to dread my surname, questioning why my last name starts with the first letter in the alphabet. And that’s when thoughts began to bother me. I began worry if I can answer the tests without talking to someone atleast once and not to mention being distracted.
I finished most of the tests for the first day smoothly but what concerns me the most is that the second day is full of hard subjects. All of which need memorization and I am particularly worried for Physics because I do not understand some of the concepts. And being infront feels like I am alone in the battle. It will be very hard to ask my classmates without drawing much attention. Wanting to be independent and pretty confident in the test, I decided to review until I understand every lesson. I answered the previous quizzes and activities to practice and memorized the formulae until I was pretty satisfied. The only problem is that I only slept for two hours.
While taking the exams for the second day, I was pretty confused. It was rough because I forgot to review the other subjects. I forgot the people in the first exam, while in the second test, I’m glad I remembered somethings but still disappointed of my performance. The third exam was Physics which I am pretty confident. But I was wrong. It is still a killer. It still made me speechless. The lesson I reviewed most was worth 10 points but the given problem was not the one I am expecting. I can’t remember any slope-intercept problems that have ranges of values!
I barely survived the first periodical examinations. But even though it is not a happy ending, atleast I learned that being ready is really the key. And I also realized that I can understand hard stuffs, but I just don’t have the drive to open my mind to it. And I knew for sure that it changed something in me and even proved that I can turn my greatest nightmare to something great.

What's Wrong Today?
We’ve all been in that situation where we want to scream everything on the top of the world to hear your voice. And it’s practically normal in life. It’s a person’s opinion and deserves to be heard, but sometimes, an opinion crosses over the line and can affect a person, physically, and emotionally. We people are smart and ruled the world for over a long time and in today’s generation it’s very stupid to start messing up what we started since the rise of modern technology where internet and computer. Social media sites are with it and these are the mediums to let other people see what you want to say or show. Twitter is one of it, and most of what I see are students ranting, and expressing themselves. But, we must always think every single move we make because it can change one tiny detail that can affect your whole life.

To Positivity and Beyond
By Mary Audrey Amorao
Science high schoool~. Yes, I know right. Requirements, presentations, examinations and hell weeks are just a regular thing for us scihigh students. It seems like they really don’t want us to miss them and they’re just super clingy. Like your boyfriend/girlfriend right? So annoying. But then, to come think of it, we should really be thankful on how teachers handle us and help us through these activities that they are giving(although it’s pretty great if they don’t give us any. hehe). So by the way, though many of the students now are ranting and dreadfully agonizing on their scores on the presentation and exams and quizzes they’ve got, I am going to enlighten all of their heavy souls and maybe somewhat see the bright side amidst these awful things happening to us. First, why do they give us so many requirements? You think they just don’t have anything to do with their own lives right? That’s why they give so much pressure on us—but, wait a second, it’s never been the fault of our teachers or of any people, they are just following the certain curriculum that was given by the government and the department of education. So, next time you encounter a certain teacher giving us a bunch of god knows what requirements, broaden up your thinking that what they are giving to us will also help us in the near future. After all, they just want us all to be professionals and use the appropriate knowledge and skills that we built up doping those activities when we grow up, so we can help and be productive not just for ourselves but also the things we want to achieve.
