he could say confidently that he knew every story about the so called SCOUNDREL that had become more like a war hero during the fight against the empire. word got around fast enough, & he knew plenty about the man that had luke skywalker’s back at the death star, & then saved him countless times. so actually having the chance to look him in the eyes, despite the fighting that was on the horizon, poe couldn’t help the GRIN that was overtaking his face. “han solo – sir, i’m commander poe dameron, it’s an HONOR.” he said, extending a hand towards the older man.

              han solo was tired.   was it aging?  or just too much war?   yet again he��d somehow made it out with his sorry hide,   only this time he’d actually come home after it.   not just slunk off to some cantina to forget about the exhaustion of life.   he’d seen leia.   they’d talked.   and truth be told he’d been thinking.

      his lack of attention was what made the cantankerous expression cross his features --...   chewie was also yelling from the falcon a list of parts they needed to get her up and going.   and he was trying to figure out why rey was hanging from one of the wings by some feat while welding a loose panel.   at least finn wasn’t touching his ship....   eyes were brought upwards as the hot shot introduced himself --

                 ‘   commander ---  i’ve heard about you.   best pilot she’s got.    finn can’t stop talkin’ ‘bout you either.   heard’ya had a bit of fun shooting up a hanger bay.   takes guts.   ‘

             han isn’t the JEALOUS type.

         however he is the INSECURE type.

  sounds backwards doesn’t it.  well sit with me kiddos and let me explain a thing.    han solo was an orphan.   han solo is the sort to talk a big game but probably was a lot less of a womanizing a-hole than he liked to brag.   why inflate his reputation?   because it kept him safe.   it insulated him from reality.   from what people would say.   in essence,   he can hide behind a reputation whereas chewie / luke / leia saw him for who he was.  

   but he’s a scoundrel right??? 100%.  but think about who introduced that term for him.   oh right himself.   

   i do 100% think han solo has seen some shit.  done some shit.  and been in some shit.  i do not however think that he is the jealous type.   

   especially when it comes to leia.  because consider when he asked luke ‘ think a princess and a guy like me... ‘   that wasn’t a comment of bravado.  that was a comment of straight up -- i’m in over my head but help this girl is amazing.

   han solo isn’t always sure what HE brings to the table in a relationship.  this is why i mentioned him being an orphan.   being an orphan he wouldn’t have witnessed a healthy parental love at home.   even luke had his uncle and aunt, leia had the organas.   han was mostly on his own.   so any idea of a balanced coexisting relationship is skewed in his head because he has so little reality to base it on. 

    he also assumes that leia will be happier without him.  again underestimating and devaluing what he did bring to the table in a marriage.   he admits he wasn’t the best father.  he admits what he did wrong.  he even learned that he shouldn’t have high-tailed it from leia when things got hard.  but again.   let me emphasis.    

       han solo is insecure in a relationship and therefore believes that the person he is with will be better off without him. failing to understand what he has to offer is valuable in the least.

                        HIS   PRESENCE   LINGERS   IN   TINGLING   FINGERTIPS   /   LIKE   A   FIERCE   surge   of   electricity   through   her   soul  .   she   misses   that   scoundrel,   yearning   to   feel   his   touch   and   warmth   one   last   time .  though,   something   doesn’t   sit   quite   right   within   her   conscience  .   if   he   were   truly   gone,   wouldn’t   she   have   felt   it   ??   his   demise    left   a   BIZARRELY   apathetic   response   in   leia  .   as   if   denial   still   has   her   in   it’s   stronghold,   doubting   anything   other   than   what   she   fervently   believes   to   be   true  .   han   solo   lives   with   more   lives   than   a   cat,   and   that   presence   felt   is   only   growing   STRONGER   with   every   second   passed  .

                     what   comes   next   is   that   of   a   fairytale,   only   to   come   to   fruition   in   dreams,   or   even   a   MIRAGE   created   from   wishful   thinking  .   she’s   startled,   heavily   taken   aback   by   the   hooded   figure   mirroring   han’s   charismatic   smirk   and   a   fond   gaze   that   might   as   well   PIERCE   her   aching   heart   now   THROBBING   against   her   ribcage  .   

                  ‷   you   just   had   to   do   it,   didn’t   you   ??   pull   something   like   that   again   and   i’m   killing   you   myself  .   ‴   tears   flood   vibrant   optics,   lithe   arms   practically   THROWING   themselves   over   his   frame  .   he’s   alive   and   well,   still   mustering   the   strength   to   tease   no   less  .   there’s   an   urgency   to   shake   him,   to   berate   him   a   little   more,   but   now   isn’t   the   time   nor   place  .   what’s   most   important   is   the   dire  situation   of   their   son .

         ‘      hey hey !!    ‘   there’s feigned defense as she throws herself at him.   but his arms slip around her and pull her to his chest.   it wasn’t a plan -- but it was something worth a shot.   he wasn’t sure if he was going to make it,  but thankfully...   he seemed to have a few more lives left.    

      lips pull to a cockeyed smile,   weathered features seemed more accustomed to a scowl than a smile.  but for her -- for her he’d remember what joy felt like.  a hand rested the back of her neck, the other raised to brush away errant tears.    ‘    no gettin’ weepy on me princess.   ‘    the same hand that had so gently swept away her tears gives a playful lift to her chin.   so much in their lives has changed,   but somethings it seems will remain.

        ‘      he thinks i’m dead.   so he did what snoke wanted him too.   ‘   there’s a pause,  fingers brushing slowly along her back in memory of the event.    ‘   convinced chewie and the two kids too.   they make it back alright?   ben went after’em --  but he was broken up.  hurt pretty bad too.  ‘    truth be told han solo is still processing the entire event.   he felt the saber as it pierced him,  remembered his hand on his sons face,  remembered the searing pain then the blissful fall.   remembered feeling for the gravity magnets maz had pressed him to take before that trip.   remembered turning them on and getting through the ducting to get out.   he’d stolen a ship.   gotten this far.  

                 the one good thing about a saber would?   it sealed itself off.   

      though standing there now he realized he did feel -- not quite himself.  a bit woozy.  and more than a little tired.      ‘     no one can know i’m not dead leia.   he’s got to think i’m dead.     or else none of this’ll work.   ‘

     it was a complete lie.   he was oddly loyal to leia organa,  a princess turned rebel leader.   but that wasn’t anything he’d call political...  but then again he was one to blatantly ignore the truth to continue living in his own reality about how he was.

   though one might wonder if han solo every truly got on leia’s good side.   she’d married him.   but that could just be considered a lapse in judgement that he wasn’t around long enough for her to remedy it.  but he knew if he was around when she heard how that trip went?   he’d just got a tongue lashing for his attempt at being helpful again.... and he was starting to realize he really did have a bad record with it.

        ‘   stay down !!!  get lower !   ‘   his command is barked -- with the easy grace of a man who has far too often been under fire.  the falcon lurched as he piloted around the shots being barraged their way.   so maybe he shouldn’t have stolen her  --  but was it really stealing when he’d explained the situation?   now he just -- needed to get her back to luke in one piece.   easier said than done as another blast rocked the small ship.
