hearing a voice maggie looked up to see a female standing in front of her making in her opinion an outlandish claim. to insinuate that the male was looking at maggie and not the model looking female who stood before he was almost laughable. "trust me he is not looking at me." maggie said letting out a small laugh, it was just very unlikely the older gentleman was looking at her. maggie was more of a background person, the one who observed the others being seen, never seen herself. "he is probably trying to get your attention, not mine."

“hey, so not to be a nosey nancy or anything, but that silver fox in the corner over there has been very boldly checking you out for the last twenty minutes,” april offers coyly, mustering any semblance of subtlety as she nods at the nearby voyeur. “you could be their long lost relative and they’ve come to offer you millions — or they’re building the courage to ask you for a drink. not a bad wednesday night either way, if you ask me.”

maggie was in a whole of her own, she currently had a book that she was more than half way finished with spread along her lap as the sun warmed her skin. the mornings at the beach was her favorite time to take a little spot on the beach and camp out for a couple hours. it wasn't nearly as crowded in the mornings, the only people to keep her company were the surfers who kept a comfortable distance. it wasn't that she would be opposed to speaking to her she just felt a lot more solace when she was on her own, doing her own thing. hearing a voice in front of her it took her a second to internalize that the male was actually speaking to her. she looked up feeling her cheeks turning pink from the heat of the sun and the fact that someone was talking to her. "sorry?" she said it taking a few moments before the words he had spoken had clicked in her brain. she tried to hid the look on her face when he assumed she had been in the water, let alone surfer. "oh yeah no, I didn't, might sound crazy but the entire time i've lived here, which is my whole life, i've never actually surfed." she said adding an big of emphasis on the last word.

The shop was only open by appointment until one, except to those employees who wanted to do some extra practice. But for him, the mornings were reserved for reading, surfing, or drawing. And that morning the crashing waves were irresistible. He sometimes wondered whether the houseboat was actually a long-term form of hypnosis to keep him drawn to the water. Callum zipped up his wetsuit and headed into the ocean as the sun was rising, just nodding at the few regulars he saw there.
He returned to the shore after a while when the taste of salt in his mouth transitioned from pleasant to acidic. He lay down next to his surfboard on the warm sand, wetsuit zipped half-off after chugging some water. Shading his eyes from the sun, Callum glanced over at the person who sat next to him. "Good session?"

"gotcha!" maggie said jumping quickly from the corner to startle the male who was struggling rather suspiciously she might add to get into his own business. it wasn't as if they hadn't discussed meeting in this very location a mere hour before. she just couldn't seem to hide the excitement that coursed through her veins at the mere sight of jace standing in front of her. for the years that he had been away she had often dreamed about the days that he would be back in town, with her, just like it had been before everything went astray. before jace had went off and took to the sea leaving maggie and the town they spent their whole lives growing up in behind. despite the fact that the two of them had spent nearly every day talking on the phone, ensuring that the bond of their friendship remained just as strong despite the miles between them. there was just something different about having him here, in person, in front of her that made it impossible to wipe the smile that filled her face. she felt the rain steadily picking up a steady quicker pace and felt as the rain streamed down her cheeks, her lips, clinging to her hair and causing her sweater to tighten around her skin. "you do realize asking a girl to sneak out to meet you in the rain is a bit of a dick move right?" she said teasing him playfully, although there was a hint of truth to the statement. every since moving back jace had been very clear that he wasn't ready for everyone to know he was back yet, que the sneaking around in the middle of the night to hang out. "you really got to get this thing fixed." maggie said offering her weight and pushed down on the door so the two of them together could get it to open.

the frustration was evident in his movements, his aggressive tugs on the doorknob shaking the frame. he lets out a breath that he's been holding for some time now, his hot breath blowing the damp strays out of his face. he was starting to think that any sort of downpour that happened on the island was a bad omen, because every time it rains the damn key jams, and the rest of his day becomes shit because so. it doesn't help that he had left his umbrella at him and that once 'light mist' is growing heavier with each second that passes. " fuck me " he mumbles as he jiggles and wiggles the key to no avail. the faint sound of footsteps pitter-pattering towards him quickly pulls his attention from the jammed lock. " promise it's not what it looks like, " he says as he takes a step away from the door and allows a hand to run through his dark wet locks . " i, uh.. can't get in, the door is jammed. " he says as he looks up at the individual.

- ( maude apatow + cis-female + she/her ) august by taylor swift is a song that describes margret ‘maggie’ holmes to a tee ! the twenty-six year old has been on the island for their whole life. I heard you can find them walking around the strip or working at good as old as a/an co-owner . rumor has it they can be pretty - passive but if you ask their friends they would say they are more + loyal. i’m pretty sure they remind everyone of driving with the windows down late at night, the peace you feel from looking at a sky filled with stars, and doodles on an old pair on converse shoes, but that’s for you to decide ? you’ll meet them soon enough, the island is only so big. - anna. thirty. she/her. central.

PIERCINGS : ears, all the way up to her helix on her left ear.
LIKES : sitting on the beach and looking up at the stars, plaid skirts, black combat boots, memes of cats, oversized sweaters the second it gets a little chilly, large tee shirts to sleep in, that feeling of a fluffy comforter straight up the dryer.
DISLIKES : arrogant people, people who are rude to customer service workers, the sad videos on tik tok of mistreated pets needing homes, being late to something, anything green being put on pizza.
✦── BRIEF BIO :
maggie was born and raised here in avalon and it's very clear by the fact that she knows all the town's hidden gems; like the best place to see the most amount of stars outside the city and which place has the best take out. maggie was raised by her father who after her mother passed away in a car crash when maggie was four took over the sole responsibility of raising her. he always did his very best to give maggie the best most normal of childhoods despite not having her mother and knowing there would be a part of her that was always missing. ( also if anyone wants to play her dad I will slide you a nice crisp five dollar bill ) despite her mother's passing when she was young maggie had a relatively normal upbringing. her father and her grew to be extremely close and he always supported her in being the person she wanted to be. growing up she was seen by some of the kids as different or weird for her shy persona and her fascination with the stars so as a result she kind of reserved herself to those she felt safest with. this also meant that when she is forced into those social surroundings she finds herself trying her best to hid her insecurities to the best of her abilities. her comfort zone however, is definitely at home in her comfy clothes, watching her comfort shows. ( someone say mood ). present day she still lives in the town she grew up in, opting to be no more than a five minute drive from her dad. she co-owns the thrift store that she went from working as associate to taking over when the original owner retired. she spends a lot of time trying to give the thrift store both an updated and vintage feel that will apply to the younger crowds. she is still very much that sheltered, often shy, stays close to the comfort kind of girl.
✦── HEADCANNONS
she has two cats that she has recused, they are named simon and garfunkel. truly she would adopt more if she could without being that crazy cat lady.
she's a huge fan of the stars, the moon, aliens, etc, after her father used to take her star gazing as a way to talk to her mother.
if she trust you her love language in sending you memes and roasting you.
she owns a collection of plaid skirts that she often matches with a pair of worn out black combat boots.
loves sneaking out in the late hours of the night to go look at stars, that is the key to her heart. bonus points if you bring pizza.
due to her mother's passing she has developed a bit of codependency to the people she holds near and dear.
