these 2..! these 2!!!!!
(bad boys, cleo + co, gem and her senior citizen, dogwarts, scottage duo, dad squad)
lllllore ⬇️
bigb:
- a well-known informant not affiliated with the heroes or villains. also a well-known liar. usually he doesn’t even gain anything from it, he just thinks it’s funny. however he’s still the only genuine informant willing to supply intel to both sides of the fight, so people keep going to him
- on pretty good terms with the red banners. given martyn’s power, bigb will often trade more genuine information with him. in return, bigb will set martyn onto specific targets to listen in on their conversations. likewise on the heroes team, he has a similar deal set in place with gem that instead utilises her astral projection powers
- isn’t particularly afraid of either side turning him over to authorities (on account of all the misinformation) given that his powers are really quite impressive. conversely, both the villains and heroes have tried, on multiple occasions, to offer him a place amongst their ranks. bigb always declines, much more content with watching the chaos go down
- despite his reluctance to join an official team, bigb has offered his allegiance to a certain rogue agent who once helped him out of a tricky situation with cleo. the only issue, however, is that he can’t really seem to remember her face or name
scar:
- like bigb, scar is also quite a well-known figure amongst the heroes and villains. though, instead of supplying information, he plies hero/villain wares + supplies from his travelling storefront. additionally like bigb, he also has a reputation for being a complete scammer
- on a good day, scar’s stock can include functional weaponry and body armour. on bad days, he tries to ply crystals with supposed spells attached, or vouchers that offer his friendship. despite the absurdity, his power gives him about an 80% success rate
- although the outfit above is considered to be his ‘main’ attire, scar’s outfit changes regularly. many suspect he’s solely in the business to dress up in different increasingly ridiculous costumes (and they’re partly correct)
- while scar hasn’t followed in grian’s footsteps regarding getting revenge over mumbo’s death, he’s certainly disillusioned with the heroes, hence why he has no qualms selling to both villains and heroes. unlike grian, scar does have an inkling about what fate might’ve befallen mumbo, and has a subtler side-quest in the works to try find him
oho. now i’ve drawn every member of the life series cast but astute viewers may notice i’ve only dropped 17 designs, tomorrow we see the person i’ve been dancing around in the lore sections, and you all finally get some plot :]]
#trafficblr#wild life smp#i’ll admit the outfits are a bit misleading here. their arcs are more closely aligned with last life but these ones look cool so erm 🤓#scout’s life series!hero/villains

ooh we’re getting close now, then i might actually get around to drawing some of the plot who knows wouldn’t that be crazy
(bad boys, cleo + co, gem and her senior citizen, dogwarts, scottage duo)
l to the o to the r to the e !
etho:
- deeply, deeply private as an individual. out of all the other heroes, villains and vigilantes he is the most conscientious about keeping his identity hidden - to the extent that he won’t even tell the heroes he works for his real name. there are a mere two people who have seen his face and heard his name, though it was years before the three of them went their separate ways
- not exactly a mercenary, but instead an empowered individual who does various bits of work for different (legal) operations. while the main storyline takes place, he’s actively being hired by the hero’s corp to help them take down the bad boys, citing his credentials as having history with one of the members. despite his mysterious nature, gem seems to be able to confirm his claims
- despite working for the ‘good side’, he isn’t particularly attached to his employers. often, he’ll work for contradictory companies or simply drop a job entirely if the role gets too intense. one might think that this attitude would lead to a lack of work, but his technical skill continues to carry him
- feels like he has to stay stoic to maintain the persona and reputation that’s built up around him. not very deep down, he’d just like to sit down for a bit. read a book, maybe. wants someone to ask if he’d like a cuppa
bdubs:
- moss cloak is intended to fade through the four seasons and represent the passage of time. don’t think i need to explain the clocks but aside from fitting the aesthetic they help him keep track of time while he’s manipulating the speed of it
- all things considered, bdubs never really wanted to be a hero. he had a string of bad luck trying to set up an artistic career, and after the hero’s coalition found out about how strong his abilities are, they invited him into their ranks with the promise of a healthy pay check. he’s quite happy with his life, but still doesn’t really enjoy all the fighting. as a whole, bdubs is much more comfortable helping out from the sidelines
- despite etho’s stand-offish nature, bdubs is quite determined to get to know him, often inviting him on little coffee dates within the hero corp’s compound. however, the efficacy of his approach has yet to be determined
- outside of his powers, bdubs is quite partial to using tranq darts against his enemies. the method is somewhat looked down upon by the administrators of the hero’s corp, but the effects speak for themselves. additionally, it prevents him from having to get too close to fights
tango:
- one of the hero corp’s resident technicians, he develops tools that specifically aid individual heroes, and works on defence systems that protect the headquarters. somewhat like bdubs, he’s happier back at home working on his devices over being out on the field
- his tail grew in alongside his powers (as do all non-human features) and helps him maintain his balance and agility while using his superspeed. while he goes incognito as a civilian, he usually just has to tuck it into a pants leg - something he finds mildly embarrassing
- tango is virtually immune to all fire, not just the flames he creates, meaning he is occasionally called upon to help firefighters with the wide-scale jobs; or just to deal with other flame-based villains. on the other hand, the flames that ignite on his body are indeed harmful to everyone else, resulting in him having to take some care when working with other heroes
- in the aftermath of his death, tango tries his best to look after mumbo, taking him under his wing somewhat. he recognises that mumbo feels more comfortable while buried elbows deep into a project, and intentionally gives him tricky tasks to try keep his brain occupied

the ⬆️⬇️ duo
(bad boys, cleo + co, gem and her senior citizen, dogwarts)
i’ve barely watched these guys’ povs and it’s about to be obvious (lore below)
scott:
- basically the poster child of the hero’s coalition. heroes naturally get a lot of praise for their work, and scott absolutely revels in the attention and fame. to an extent, he doesn’t quite take his role seriously until a certain attack takes a near-fatal turn. after a brush with death, he approaches his work with a new sense of care
- visor is more for style + communications from command. since he can alter how people perceive him, he just chooses a different face to mimic every time he goes out in the field and doesn’t really have to worry about being recognised
- surprisingly competent. he uses his general personality and demeanour to put enemies off his scent, pretending to be a lot less capable than he actually is. he then can use the element of surprise to his advantage when he absolutely floors his enemies
- a little too willing to sacrifice himself if it means saving his teammates
pearl:
- took her a while to come to terms with and accept her powers. due to the damages she caused during her first transformation, she considered them to be a liability for quite some time. after one transformation lead to a rampage, she was intercepted by starfall who saw potential in her abilities, and encouraged her to start training in the heroes corp. from there, she found a place on the team and as scott’s partner
- while in her werewolf form, pearl can become quite fixated on her targets, dissociating from everything else around her, and her own pain. given his familiarity with her, scott is quite adept at bringing her back from this state
- despite her hero partnership with scott, pearl functions well with gem too due to their more compatible powers. pearl’s canine senses allow her to detect when gem is near in her astral projection state, allowing gem to be her eyes and ears when she focuses too deeply on a target
- of all the heroes, pearl probably exhibits the most differences between her hero and civilian states. as a hero, she is a hyper-competent warrior whose missions come first, regardless of the cost. on the other hand, her demeanour as a civilian is much more playful and sweet
#trafficblr#scottage duo#reflecting their irl dynamic‚ i like to think that scott and joel are neighbours as civilians and quite good friends#but are otherwise absolute arch nemeses in their hero + villain personas#scout’s life series!hero/villains

back to villains!! the weird barely platonic soulmates ever
(bad boys, cleo + co, gem and her senior citizen)
LORE, LORE HERE
obviously i went with dogwarts era
the red banners:
- a coalition of villains and criminals lead by ‘the red king’ and his right-hand-man, listener. ren offers them protection from authorities and the space to perform their illicit acts, in return for their loyalty during wide-scale fights against heroes
- the organisation is difficult to locate without the right channels and has been a significant thorn in the hero coalition’s side for many years
- subsequently, some people join the red banners to disappear from the public eye. ren has an occasional sympathetic side and has offered a ‘witness protection scheme’ of sorts to whoever might need it - particularly those who were unjustly wronged by heroes
- however, those who have wronged the red banners will find themselves hunted to the ends of the earth. ren and his closest associates do not tolerate traitors of any sort
ren:
- former theatre kid. uses the villain stuff as an outlet. he, and by extension, listener often receive mockery for the whole fantasy medieval theme they have going on, but by this point, ren is fully committed to sticking to his guns
- he has a slight soft spot for impulse. given how long their rivalry has lasted as respective figureheads of their organisations, ren feels a sort of respect towards him. while he still wouldn’t hesitate to take him down on the battlefield, he isn’t particularly interested in employing any underhand techniques to take him down. after so long, there is a sort of mutual agreement to stay out of one another’s business
- all things considered, ren doesn’t actually use his powers that often. instead, he and listener practice sword fighting regularly and use it to gain a surprise advantage against their enemies. they’re probably the only people who could get away with bringing a sword to a gunfight
- ren’s health fluctuates somewhat, leading him to conduct a lot of his work from behind the scenes, allowing martyn to take over most public duties. however, the two spend a lot of time together as they discuss the going-ons of the red banners
martyn:
- goes without saying, but he would lay his life down for ren. the two are incredibly codependent, but martyn is especially protective of his king and takes a lot of pleasure from defending him and fighting others in his name
- regarding everyone who isn’t ren (and to a lesser extent, the red banners), martyn’s loyalties are fleeting. he uses others to his advantage and isn’t afraid to make enemies of people if it will benefit him in the long run. occasionally, ren will scout out allies who have had previous encounters of a violent manner with martyn, leading to slightly uncomfortable meetings
- although bigb isn’t actually aligned with the heroes or villains, martyn is quite keen to keep him on-side. in return for accurate intel on the wider city’s happenings, martyn often supplies bigb with information he’s managed to attain with his powers. (bigb himself is something of an honorary red banner)
- occasionally, city life can lead to martyn’s empowered hearing overwhelming his senses, resulting in him only activating them when strictly necessary. in most combat situations, he relies on a bola to trap his enemies before striking them down with his sword, he’s developed something of a reputation for being a dangerous foe
#trafficblr#dogwarts#renthedog#martyn inthelittlewood#all the fanart i see of martyn is quite misleading. wdym he’s six foot#scout’s life series!hero/villains

Is there an RvB to Hermitcraft pipeline I need to know about???? I saw your hero AU and then I saw your name was Scout and thought it sounded familiar and then I realized I followed you on Instagram for your RvB art?? Anyways hi????
(This is not the first time this has happened I swear there must be some inexplicable pipeline here)
lol hi!! my rvb reputation lives on..
i’m gonna be so fr, there was no clear pipeline that lead me directly from rvb to hermitcraft. after it finally released its hold on me i took about a year off to get really into bbc ghosts and went down the whole britcom pipeline, then spent ages fixating on ocs, went back to britcom for a bit, then ocs again, then randomly landed on a mogswamp video in my yt recommended
i was like oh this guy is fun, watched all of minecraft sos, jumped ship to pixlriffs pov but immediately switched to watching misadventures smp, However, since he didn’t post much misadventures, i hopped onto scott’s pov cos i vaguely remembered him from (cough) 2020. thennn uhh i think i just got recommended life series stuff and my brain rewired itself to watch like. every smp ever from joel’s perspective and now???im insane. in the head
so unfortunately less of a pipeline and more arcane forces guiding me towards weird northerners 👍

oh ho! more hero designs?!
[bad boys, cleo + co]
u know the drill.. come get your lore
gem:
- the most recent hero to join the team! she’s something of a prodigy for her age, given how late her powers developed, and while they aren’t the most combat-oriented, she more than makes up for it with her physical capabilities (a large percentage of which were honed during her days as a vigilante)
- as aforementioned, gem’s powers manifested later than most (typically it’s early teens alongside puberty, hers developed around the age of 22). after a stint of ill health worsened by gem trying to simply exercise her way out of it, she collapsed while out for a run and her consciousness slipped from her body. in the panic, she couldn’t find her way back until a stranger (who she would later learn was joel) unintentionally brought her back. the two would quite quickly become friends, with joel offering advice on how to manage her powers, and gem pushing him into becoming a better fighter physically; and over the course of a few years, they came a vigilante duo
- however, gem always had high aims. she pursued a place amongst the heroes corp and eventually made it in. despite her encouraging joel to also join, she never succeeded and the two amicably parted ways. despite this, they would occasionally collaborate behind the scenes to benefit their respective goals. when joel finally flipped to becoming a villain, these collaborations declined, however they never aim to truly hurt one another in battle - a bit of secret friendly sparring never goes amiss though
- in the present, gem has a solid place amongst the heroes’ coalition, impulse took her on as an apprentice of sorts, and she has more than exceeded his expectations. the two still collaborate often, finding ways to combine their abilities. gem also often finds herself in the company of pearl, the two developing a close friendship which reflects itself as a strong partnership on the battlefield. all in all, gem is overjoyed to be a fully fledged hero, but occasionally wishes she could just let loose a little
impulse
- one of the senior heroes in both rank and skill, formerly managed the team alongside his closest friend skizz. after skizz’s death, he struggled for a while to maintain his hero duties, letting a lot of the decisions fall on tango’s shoulders. however, after a young and inexperienced gem joined the team, he flung himself headfirst into training her and guiding her towards becoming a capable hero. the two share an easy bond and can often be seen working together both within the headquarters and out on the field
- by nature, impulse generally tries not to hurt any villains or criminals he’s sent to deal with. he much prefers simply teleporting them into prison wagons, where they are then sent through rehabilitation programs. slow to anger, it takes a lot to truly work impulse up into a rage - however, when this does happen, the traps he lays can be monumental
- impulse feels quite a lot of guilt over mumbo’s death, and struggles greatly to comply with his request of not telling his immediate family and friends about the whole being-undead-thing. the knowledge that they’re out there grieving weighs quite heavily on his shoulders, and behind the scenes, he has been searching for ways to subtly compensate them for their loss
- not-so-secretly, impulse greatly prefers working within the walls of the headquarters. whether it be developing new technology with tango and mumbo, or training new recruits, or even just handling paperwork. while he is a capable fighter, he’s much more at home when making the cogs and gears of the hero corp turn
#trafficblr#hermitcraft#geminitay#impulsesv#i’ve only recently started watching hermitcraft but i like their dynamic :]]]#i’m also a big fan of apprentice/mentor relationships that aren’t inherently like familial or bordering on father/daughter. idk they’re just#like a different category in my mind. adult you can trust completely who is sort of your friend but also there’s an element of respect idk#scout’s life series!hero/villains

wow! heroes
(despite my silly captions i am quite excited abt this au. bad boys here!)
loreeee down here
cleo:
- only discovered her powers after dying during a random villain’s attack on the hero’s headquarters. her death was a casualty of the wider battle, falling debris took them out almost instantly. however, in the wake of the attack it took a while for anyone to come forward and identify the body. in which time, their powers activated and she unintentionally reanimated herself
- following the apparent miracle, the heroes took her into their ranks and she began her training as a hero. over the course of several years, they would be sent on the more dangerous missions, subsequently resulting in their body dying multiple times and gaining a zombified appearance
- her secondary ability manifested after the death of beloved hero, The Angel. with the heroes’ ranks thin and their only remaining teammates backed into a corner, cleo called upon The Angel for help. to everyone’s surprise, he dragged himself out of the ground (albeit a bit worse for wear) and threw himself into the fight. from there, cleo would call upon willing souls to help in the larger fights against villains
- cleo is currently deemed to be one of the senior heroes in the corp as a result of their long tenure and general experience. her and impulse often take on the roles of team captains
skizz:
- formerly one of the city’s most beloved heroes, exceptionally well known for both his hero work, and for his volunteering amongst charities and hospitals. formerly, he and impulse were the figureheads of the hero corp, but after his death, he honourably passed the torch onto cleo
- due to his appearance, he’s generally only called upon to help heal heroes within the tower, but be deeply misses being out amongst the people, helping whoever might need him. when not actively being called upon, his body is lain to rest in the hero corp’s private morgue
- he often asks cleo to raise him even when there isn’t an active threat, missing his friends and knowing that they miss him too
- in his new lease in afterlife, skizz has brushed off his psychology diploma and has taken on a role as a semi-official therapist for the heroes
mumbo:
- mumbo struggles more with the ethics of his position as an undead operative. even before death, his role amongst the heroes was primarily as an engineer behind the scenes. now his office is his tomb, he has not yet connected with any of his friends and family out of fear of how they might perceive him now
- he particularly misses his two best friends and housemates, grian and scar, unaware that the former is wreaking havoc on the heroes on his behalf
- as much as he enjoys inventing and helping the heroes, mumbo physically doesn’t enjoy being undead. his ‘willingness’ to be summoned is mostly out of a lingering sense of duty, as opposed to any real vigour for life
- generally, mumbo feels the most normal around tango, a fellow engineer when he isn’t out doing fieldwork. tango’s focus on their technology and wider work helps mumbo dissociate himself from the reality he finds himself in

FINALLY got around to dumping Spotify after their CEO continued to prove he's a fresh turd. (As if being a billionaire, not paying musicians, shoving AI garbage at us, and having an atrocious carbon footprint wasn't bad enough, he's now the chair of a AI-based weapons manufacturing company.)
I used TuneMyMusic ($24 annual fee you can cancel immediately, effectively paying only once) to transfer almost every single song from our Spotify account to Tidal. Tidal already has much better sound quality and they pay their artists much better. It migrated over 99% of our music, too, so there wasn't a huge loss.

woow scout making a superhero au..? stop the presses 😐
my usual trick: lore below
going to keep it as concise as i can for the sake of everyone involved
the bad boys:
- a villain group who specifically target the hero coalition for their own individual goals
- were initially just uni friends and eventual flatmates (during this time, they all eventually discovered one a others’ powers) who eventually drifted apart when their adult lives took over
- jimmy joined the hero corp for a while until eventually leaving on bad terms, joel went off to do some occasional vigilante or hired work where he had encounters with other vigilantes, grian leaned away from the hero scene and simply focussed on his work until a tragedy brought him back into the thick of things
- years later, when grian’s tragic event occurred, he and jimmy sought each other out to try get revenge on the hero coalition and sort of just communally decided it wouldn’t be the same without joel, thus leading them to bring him back into the fold. joel didn’t have any particular revenge plan, he just didn’t like how cliquey the corp was
jimmy:
- once a part of the hero coalition, was one of the newer recruits and essentially got bullied off of the team due to his tendency to drop first in fights. bit of a weird situation with scott who he once considered an exceptionally close friend, tries to avoid him in fights. otherwise, his role as a villain is to get revenge on the organisation who wronged him
- like grian, his wings can only be used for gliding or slowing falls
- the whole songbird -> invisibility bit is playing on the fact that (unless you’re an actual mega cool bird watcher) you can rarely pick out an individual bird’s song amongst the morning chorus, and jim’s powers let him seamlessly become another face in the crowd, even when he’s not invisible
- as a result of this, he’s pretty lax about keeping his identity secret since people just don’t tend to notice him
- originally he wanted to name himself more generically after songbirds, but the hero coalition jokingly officially branded him as canary due to the aforementioned lack of skill
grian:
- never originally had much interest in the hero/villain scene, despite him having powers. generally kept them on the down-low during uni
- after graduating, he would make friends with mumbo, an empowered engineer who worked for the hero’s coalition. they pretty quickly became best friends and became flatmates with another shared friend, scar. however, a few years down the line, mumbo would be a collateral death while he was out doing fieldwork. this completely broke grian, who viewed it as a failure of the hero’s system
- jimmy, who had long since left the hero corp by this point, saw the news coverage of the event and reconnected with grian, mostly just to see if he was alright. however, grian saw this as an opportunity to make a stand against the heroes, rallying jimmy’s lingering anger against the heroes and seeking out joel to complete their trio
- couldn’t bear staying in his old flat any longer due to the absence of mumbo and unofficially moved into jimmy’s flat (alongside joel). he tries not to think about the fact that he basically abandoned scar
joel:
- always found the whole hero/villain thing a bit silly, but historically has intervened when he’s seen injustice. his vigilante work was largely morality based, as opposed to legality based, for example, he might prevent robberies on small businesses, but facilitate the robberies of larger companies
- while most people’s powers develop alongside puberty, some are late bloomers and joel happened upon one individual Just as she was discovering her powers. this turned out to be gem, and the two teamed up for a while, with joel teaching her everything he knew about managing powers, and gem providing a new outlook on the systems at play. gem would eventually leave to become an official hero, but the two stayed in quiet contact, occasionally helping one another where their respective stations would limit them
- in this young-adult-era of this life, joel also briefly aligned himself with a vigilante contractor, etho, but things eventually turned a little sour between them and they went their separate ways
- in joel’s dreams, there was once another woman who he cared about more than anything. but something happened. most of the time he isn’t sure if she ever even existed at all
ooh spooky. lore. i have a few of the designs already drawn but i’ll probably just drop one a day to give me a chance to finish some of the other ones. in the meantime, feel free to ask questions and i’ll be tagging things with this -> #scout’s life series!hero/villains
