Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-6-14
Though we're still in a downward trading channel, bonds are slightly up today after the crazy fluctuations from yesterday's Fed Meeting. They said to expect a couple more hikes in 2018 and THREE in 2019. Though we saw big swings in the market, all is back to normal for now. Overall bias on Mortgage bonds is bearish, so be careful if you're floating.

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-5-17
Interest rates increased relatively sharply since my last report and fell below my expectations by ~1/4 point. Though stocks are down and Jobless Claims increased, bonds are struggling. Traders are relying heavily on the charts. Be sure to check out the video for the technicals. Ahead, we can expect more of the same unless we can break above $101.50. Be careful if you're floating your lock.

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-5-10
Interest rates have held steady over the last week. Inflation talks have both hurt and helped bonds. As you can see in the video, bonds are slightly up due to the CPI inflation report. Most analysts are thinking bonds may go up as much as 50points and test resistance, others are more neutral. I think it's best to cautiously float right now ahead of the 30yr bond auction today.

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-5-3
Mortgage Rates are doing well today, in my opinion, much due to the Fed meeting yesterday. Analysts are all over the board ahead of tomorrow's Jobs Report. At the end of the day, I think the reward of locking outweighs the risk of floating. So, our position is to take these nice gains and lock.

Mortgage Rates are down slightly today as the bond market shows some strength. Though the jobless claims came in better than expected, it was discounted due to the technicals of the charts and the 10yr Treasury staying under a 3% yield. Analysts are all over the board on their projections. I think we may 聽want to cautiously float over the next day or two, but I think we'll see more worsening of the markets than improvement. So, if you're floating your rate, be very careful...

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-4-5
Mortgage Rates are flat today. Though the jobless claims came in worse than expected, it was discounted due to the potential influence of spring break. Tomorrows Jobs report is going to be the big mover and analysts don't think it will be a good report for bonds, so across the board, analysts are advising to lock in prior to the report.

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-3-22
Unexpectedly, it's a nice day for Mortgage Rates today. As you likely heard, the Fed hiked the short term rate by .25%, increasing the prime rate to 4.25%. China's central bank followed suit. The FHFA housing report on only showed housing appreciation is up, but it's accelerating. But at the end of the day, it was Jobless Claims, more Tariff talks, and Facebook all hurting stocks and helping mortgage bonds.

Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-3-15 - Could a potential Economic Bubble help Mortgages?
Today, Mortgage rates are holding their ground from a mixed bag of economic reports. Mortgage rates found their first plateau of 2018. Tariff talk is putting pressure on rates, but analysts are at the edge of their seats ahead of tomorrow's non-farm payroll numbers. It's all about inflation! Right now, the bias is to lock if you can. Today, Mortgage rates are pretty flat as mortgage bonds continue on this flat trading range. Three weeks ago, mortgage rates found their first plateau of 2018. Analysts are a bit inconsistent on the short term, but I believe the market has a chance to improve over the next week, bringing with it more favorable mortgage terms to consumers. Right now, the bias is to carefully float.

Mortgage Rates are being impacted by a mixed bag of news today from the new fed Chairman Powell, to inflation, and even construction. The good news: Mortgage Rates/Fees have found some footing and we're finally trading flat. Bad News: There are still no indicators that the lonterm trend will be broken. Most analysts will agree, though we may see some relief on the short term, we still have a long road ahead. Yesterday's Fed Minutes had a big impact on Mortgage Rates. It seems as though Mortgage Bonds found footing and were testing the top of the trading channel, but talk of inflation slapped them down. Mortgage Rate Forecast 2018-2-15
A big day for reports! Bonds opened low but are regaining some ground. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough mortgage bond friendly news to help mortgage rates today. We are still seeing consistent sell off of bonds bringing higher mortgage rates/mortgage fees. Most analysts have a bias to lock versus floating the mortgage rates.
