Gabe as a manifestation of grief also contains all his family’s longing for what he could have been. I love the idea that, when he and Natalie have their moment at the very end, it’s because she for the first time wonders what it would be like to have her older brother with her. Her family has just fallen apart, it’s just her and her father alone in the house and she’s feeling a whole mess of emotions as to what her life will look like from now on. And maybe it would have been comforting to have a sibling at that moment who had grown up with her and could perhaps understand what she was feeling. I know this is probably a bit of a reach but I love the interpretation that this is why Gabe touches Natalie’s hand here and she feels it. Because for the first time she’s missing him too.

i’m not opposed to frivolous little accessory trends but my thing with labubu, in addition to the ridiculous price point, is the lack of variety in their design like they’re all the same guy. i don’t get the intrigue of a blind box when essentially you’re just getting the same guy in one of several colors. all the same shape, mostly the same expression. i guess that’s why people have been making little outfits for them to inject that element of self expression but ultimately if you aren’t vibing with that one specific guy you’re kind of fucked. much more could be done here, open up the labubu universe. like our version of this in the aughts was uglydoll and they were like $10 and you had so many different mfs to choose from like i had the blue bong shaped mf in the top left corner and her name was fea bea and she was a subspecies in the ugly doll universe called an ugly stick. give us some damn labubu world building.

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.
