why is it still so hard to get taken seriously with MaDD outside of this community? i thought it was getting better for some reason, but people still want to romanticize it or use it for attention. anytime i mention it in the topic of mental health outside of this website, i just get hit with the "you'll be fine." it makes me so angry. 😭

Does anyone ever daydream about a fandom but you warp the characters so far from canon that they’re basically your own and you have so many aus you barely remember what happened in the canon material anymore and anytime you are talking with anyone about that fandom and say you love x character and they say “oh my gosh, me too!”, but you’re painfully and uncomfortably aware that you don’t love the same character because you have your own version that no one else will ever see or get

I think that one of the motives that I'm really attached to Emily (my parame) is because I was a really lonely person for most of my life.

Paracosm flag template

Definition: A paracosm is an imaginary world. Typically a paracosm is quite developed and may have its own imagined geography, laws, people, places, customs, history, language, etc. A famous example of a paracosm is Middle Earth. You do not have to be a maladaptive daydreamer to have a paracosm. (Definition taken from this post about MaDD terms).

This flag is supposed to be used for those who want to make flags for any of their paracosm's for any reason (for example a flag for a mermaid paracosm, a medieval paracosm, ect).

This flag is intended for those with Maladaptive Daydreaming, and/or Immersive Daydreaming. However, anyone with a paracosm can use it.

My main paracosm is literally one big crossover of all the stuff that I don't even know why I smashed together.

Like we have characters from:

A shooter that has a "war is shit" message but everyone just looked at the cool weapons and thought "OMG this is so cool".

Niches visual novels with extremely traumatised characters. And some of them died. And they are all from the same creator btw.

A cartoon from the 2000s that I've seen when I was like, really young, and never touched it again, but I grew attached to a character that at this point the para version of him is very different from the original one because in my daydreams he had character development and grew up form a mistake that he literally costed his credibility (not that he wasn't a really contested character before, but still) and his old life (no, he didn't died, I mean in a more metaphorical sense).

Another game, but all the characters are. Crazy. Like need-therapy-asap crazy.

And these are only the ones who are the more prevalent currently. I'm not counting the previous ones or even all the other paracosms.

Anyone else have headworlds/paracosms that are just, objectively extremely shit self indulgent crossovers that would get you sent death threats by extremely online people if you ever tried to write and publish them?
