Hizashi hmmm’d for a moment before shrugging. “If I were younger I’d probably try to see if I could manage slipping a lie past you, but I also don’t want to accidentally hurt you... Plus well, having you compulsively point out all my lies could end up embarrassing!” Looking at the detective, Hizashi patted his shoulder. “You’re a pretty neat guy!”

In fact it might already be tuned to your channel, believe it or not I’m quite a fan of your show.” Shino gave a shy smile and a flustered wave of his hand. “It-It’s nothing really! You’re just an amusing fellow to listen to. Very energetic, I cant help but feel inspired by it. Its infectious.” Tokage explained with a timid chuckle on his lips.

“D-Don’t tell anyone that, Hizashi. The less people know I have a fun side the better. I have a reputation and all.” He joked.

Well if getting thanked so much was an ego boost, the police chief saying he was a fan of the show definitely went straight to Hizashi’s head. He perked up a bit, feeling less guilty about the... mishap from earlier. He turned on the radio before a small sly grin grew on his face. “Don’t worry! With the number of things Eraser has sworn me to secrecy it’ll be easy to keep your fun side a secret! I just ask for eternal friendship in exchange.” 

Of course, a joke, but Hizashi wouldn’t have minded getting to know Tokage a little better.

She pressed her side against his door-frame, her eyes soften as she watches him. “Hey, Yamada-san. How are you?” Fuyumi held two lunches in her hand. She crossed the floor and passed one to him. “I made extra food today, so I brought you lunch.” If he looked inside, he’d find a bento with cute treble clef shaped carrots and panda-shaped rice ball. She might have made it special for him, but she never wanted to admit to that.

It was always a pleasure to see Fuyumi come around in the office. Of course, Hizashi liked most of his coworkers, but he could admit to himself having a soft spot for the newer teacher. A wide smile found its place on his face at the offered lunch. It was an easy gift to accept. “Thanks! I’m doing great, just trying to get some grading done. Wanna sit and eat with me?”

Can't stop fecking thinking about this but-

Present Mic being a very well know person. Hero, radio host, and a teacher at UA? Hell yeah people know him. He's such a well known person that many know both his hero name and his real name.

But he's not a high ranking Hero. He's somewhere in the tripple didgets. The reason being is that he almost never goes on patrol - his agency and others prefer him to stick to his djing to make a name for himself. So many look at him and his quirk and go, "Voice hero? He screams at people? Lame. At least he's fun."

But here's the thing. The reason he never patrols is because his quirk is devastating. He opens his mouth and windows shatter, foundations crumble, peoples ears start bleeding and their hearing, vision, and balance immediately goes to shit. Sure, his directional speaker helps, but standing too close to him when he uses his quirk is still dangerous. So as a Hero?

Present Mic is only called in for two reasons. First, as a last resort - the fight with the villains has gone to shit and well at this point might as well risk the damage to the inner ear to end it.

Second? As the trump card.

The fact that many consider him lame or barely a hero means they underestimate him. They'll see his leather get-up, his styled hair, and his big grin and just start laughing. Who is this guy? Gives us a real hero! And then he opens his mouth. And it's game over.

Have you ever tried to defend yourself when you couldn't see straight? Couldn't hear? Couldn't even lift an arm without getting so dizzy you puke? That's what his quirk can do, and all with just his voice.

Present Mic doesn't have to be standing or fighting or even especially good at fighting to take down an entire base of villains. He doesn't need to be.

   Shino listened to Mic’s explanation with a soft chuckle on is lips. Okay, yeah that explained a lot. And the offer was one he couldn’t pass up. Heh, maybe this wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Sheepishly, the still take aback Chief nodded and offered the seat opposite to him at his desk.

”Well how can I say no to that?” A rare smile lit the scaly serpent’s lips before he split the files in between them. I’ll make us something to drink while we work. Um..Mi-…Hizashi. Thank you for your help. Really.” He murmured timidly with a shy bow of his head in thanks. It was obvious not many Heroes had ever done that for him before. Normally he’d be here for hours upon hours doing all the paperwork alone.

Sitting in the offered seat, Hizashi gave his best winning grin. “Sounds awesome! Do you mind if we listen to the radio though? I like to keep an ear on it even when I’m not there pluuuuus a little music never hurt anyone!” Even if his request was denied, Hizashi would stay. He mostly just didn’t want to sit in silence working on paperwork. 

“As much as it strokes my ego, you gotta stop thanking me.” Hizashi smiled a little more naturally.

“Almost no one but there are a special few.” He laughed a little. “And I can’t turn it off either so when I was younger, walking around outside meant either headaches or wearing headphones that cancelled out noise. I can sort of tune out background conversation now though.“

“I’d love to say I won’t lie to you, but can’t really guarantee it.” Hizashi would do his best, knowing it gave the detective headaches, but he knew he lied more than he probably should have. “Glad to know you can sorta tune some of it out now though.”

There's also a small tupperware container labeled with a smiley face that has some fried chicken. The note on the gift saying, "Happy Birthday! -FatGum"

Hizashi really liked birthdays. Sure, there was a vain part of him that never wanted to get old, but over all, they were pretty fun, even if it wasn’t his birthday. That said, he never went around advertising the date. The gift on his desk was certainly a surprise, but it only made Hizashi grin all the more. Maybe a more together person would wait to open a gift, but well, he was excited. 

Holding up the clock, Hizashi whistled. The artwork on it, the nice pretty vinyl... Hizashi already knew exactly where he would hang it in his home. Running his fingers over it, Hizashi turned to the tupperware before looking at the note. The fried chicken however gave away who had put this gift on his desk. Hizashi checked the note and grinned. 

Pulling out his phone, Hizashi sent FatGum a text, ‘Hey!! Thanks for the gifts! The chicken looks great and I already know where to put the clock.’ He paused before sending a second text, ‘Also!! You have to tell me when your birthday is or I’ll have to go stalk your fan pages!’

Taking note of the description, he turned as a waiter walked by to grab a drink off the tray and in doing so, casually got a glance of the man. He didn’t look familiar at all so when he turned back to Mic, he gave him a little nod. “I’ll go say hello. Stay close just in case.”

“I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth don’t worry.” Hizashi grinned. It was probably unprofessional to make a joke in a potentially dangerous situation, but hey, if he were to be too serious other people might think he was up to something. Either way, Hizashi was ready to follow the detective over and just engage in conversation with someone near by.

   Rei smiled and gave a shy smile before nodding an following after him sheepishly. “Thank you very much Mister Present Mic.” She murmured. “So you’re a teacher, a DJ and a Hero all wrapped up in one? You gotta be the busiest man in all of the city.” Rei mused, giggling into her hand some. “However do you keep up with all that working? You must be a very strong man.” She teased. 

A few chuckles left Hizashi at the comments. He was busy almost constantly, but really it worked for him. He didn’t know what he’d do having a bunch of downtime on his hands. “You just gotta get in the rhythm and it all comes together! Dance to your own beat and all that!” If he wasn’t stopped soon he’d just keep making music based puns. “You’ve got to be pretty strong yourself. Worrying after a hero in training.”
