my latest litmus test for productions and adaptations of hamlet is whether the creator(s) make any thoughtful choices about gertrude at all. they don’t have to do a completely radical against-the-grain gertrude; they just have to do Something. everybody has thoughts and feelings about ophelia, but do you have thoughts and feelings about a woman who’s older and more opaque and ambiguous, who has more power in the play and who doesn’t necessarily look virginal and beautiful, a woman who isn’t so innocent? have you thought at all about what she knows, when she knows it, how she feels about it? when did she know about king hamlet’s murder? does she love claudius? does she drink the poisoned wine on purpose? or does she simply stand there, woman-shaped, and say words

I know I've said it before but every rewatch I do cements this thought further - elijah wood's performance in LOTR is absolutely insane, they really had a character whose name means "wise by experience", hired an 18-year-old to do it, and he delivered so much that not only is it a beautiful and moving role on its own, it's a performance equal to those of the absolute powerhouses he played side by side with like ian holm and ian mckellen. to name just a few

Snails huddle together in dry conditions to conserve moisture. As a child, I found a pile of snails during a drought. I assumed they were empty and something had eaten them because the first couple shells I picked up had no visible bodies. I collected my cool shell haul and brought it inside and placed it on the windowsill. My grandmother awoke in the middle of the night to 12+ very alive snails crawling around in the kitchen.

sorry if i’m being a party pooper but because rabies is apparently the new joke on here ??? please remember that rabies has an almost 100% fatality rate after symptoms develop so if you’re bitten or scratched by an animal that you aren’t 100% sure is vaccinated then GO TO A DOCTOR. it’s not a joke. really.

Asking because I overheard a physical therapist say that she uses this question to see if she wants a second date with a guy, and if he says more than like 4 eggs at once it's a red flag.
#It depends on how hungry I was but I am confident in my hypothetical ability to polish off an even dozen#I usually eat like. 3 when I'm scrambling eggs but I *really* enjoy eggs and have an almost insatiable lust for protein#Also the line between “done eating eggs” and “physically incapable of continuing” is at least four eggs. Don't try me.

The problem with playing smash or pass is that there's a lot of characters which I'm not sexually attracted to but I would fuck in a heartbeat out of sheer curiosity and ego, like I don't find Mickey Mouse attractive at all but if he approached me at a bar and went "Hey sexy, want me to show you my mouseketool?" I would say yes because then I get to tell my friends I fucked Mickey Mouse

I wasn’t actually able to finish the documentary The Real L Word: Mississippi (because fuuuuuuuuuuuck) but I haven’t been able to get one of the women in it out of my head ever since; I know it’s an documentary and not a horror movie but it basically changed my entire conception of what horror actually is on the spot
#an anti-abortion evangelical group did this to Norma McCorvey (“Jane Roe”) and there's an interview of after she “converted” that haunts me#years later i still fucking think about it

actually, "autism is a huge part of who i am and i'm proud of it" and "autism is a disability that requires accommodations" are both true statements that can and should coexist

If I made the rules, mathematicians would be obligated to wear wizard cloaks. Or robes or hats. Not like, legally or anything, just in a social obligation "it would be kinda weird if you didn't, because that's just what they do" kind of way
