Kalina had her hands full and she was admittedly trying to carry everything all in one trip. Going back and forth from her car to her place was a little monotonous and she was cutting corners. However she instantly regretted this decision as soon as she struggled to pick up a new microphone. " dammit" She muttered under her breath before seeing someone walk past. " Hi! excuse me! Would you be willing to help me carry some recording equipment back to my place. I'm in the West Tower"

Seeing this kind of situation was mainly why Kalina never really went out. She hated the crowds and the people and there were aspects of just meeting with someone casually before going home that seemed like it was going to be a hassle. As soon as she left her spot, Kali was going to head home, only to be bumped into by someone. If she had been aware of her surroundings she would have been fine, but Kalina was small and not aware and felt like she was going to make friends with the floor before the other person steadied her. " No, no it's okay " She replied in a small but sure voice. " I'm okay, I just didn't realize what was happening here. That was my fault" @its-wolff-greenwall

location: Wolff has been drinking and his in an argument with a npc (unless you want it to be with your muse them go ahead) and he bumps into someone passing by.
Wolff found himself in the midst of yet another little situation, his temper flaring as he confronted someone. "If you have something to say, tell me, not them," he warned, his eyes narrowing as he stepped back, accidentally bumping into another person. Instantly, his hands shot up in a gesture of apology. "Sorry, darlin' / buddy," he said, not intending to involve anyone else in his heated moment. He quickly reached out to catch their arm, ensuring they didn't lose their balance. "You good?" he asked, his voice softening with genuine concern despite the anger still simmering in his gaze.

" No, it's totally okay. I think if you're not careful it's easy to get turned around. " The only reason Kali could find where she was going at any point was because she had been from a huge city herself. She had a knack for finding her way around. That was also cause she liked to sneak around buildings a lot as well. " I know I don't look like much but I can carry two bags just fine" She teased. " No for real, I'm more than happy to help. I'm not even taking anything up myself. @levinxliza
When Liza realized it was the girl two doors down from where she now lived, she let out a breath, relaxing. "Kalina, hi." She smiled in relief even as she let out a little laugh, "I....yeah. Yes please. I'm clearly a lost cause still in finding my way around a city this big." She looked down at the bags then, biting her lip--they were heavy.. "Are you sure? You leading me home is already nice enough."

As soon as Kalina listened to what he had to say, it was clear to her that maybe she needed to do her recording in the middle of the day and not at night because she loved the ambiance. She felt so unbelievably bad when she looked over to him and that had her instantly apologizing. " Oh God, I'm so sorry. " She replied looking over to to his apartment with wide eyes. they were actually really close in proximity. " I had no idea. I have been trying to soundproof the place for weeks and it clearly hasn't worked. I'll work on that " @wesxalexandre
Wes wasn't angry but he was annoyed, however, when he saw the girl open the door, he felt some of that dissipate. Mostly because he realized he should be a bit more civil than telling her to shut the hell up like he wanted to. "Hey, I live next door with my daughter" He began, softly, " and she's trying to sleep now and I can hear you going into way too much detail about some dude getting murdered, so like, I would appreciate it if you kept it down and wouldn't give her nightmares." Okay, so maybe he wasn't as civil as he could've been.

Kalina had been heading on her way home after spending most of her day at a cafe down the road and had her headphones in, mostly listening to music to drown out most of her research in her head and how it had a way of weighing heavy on her. She only paused when she saw a familiar face and how she lived across the way from her at the apartments. " Hi" She smiled softly. " Yeah I'm on my way back there right now. We could walk back together if you want? and I can help with those bags? They seem like a lot" @levinxliza

While Liza was usually a big fan of instacart, she decided today to go do grocery shopping on her own for the first time since moving to Chicago a few weeks ago, which was fine in theory, until she took a wrong turn and her phone had died, resulting in a GPS-less situation with arms full of grocery bags and panic starting to set in. She stood on a street corner as she looked around at the signs, trying not to look as flustered as she felt before she finally just swallowed and took a chance with a random passerby. "H-Hi, sorry. I um...I'm a little lost. Would you happen to know how to get to Marina Towers? Or even just to Cornerstone Bakery?"

"Huh?' Kalina replied as she looked over and noticed what was happening and instantly she felt more nervous than she had previously. " Oh......no. I don't think I want to go and talk to them. Not that they're not cute or anything. It's just......awkward" @mjwallace
" don't look now but that cutie over there is totally checking you out. what's the vibe? need me to be a wingman or a bodyguard? because as your resident bartender, i'm good for either. "

As much as she tried to drown out the sounds from the apartment walls, there was only so much she could do. It was strange that she could still hear all the business happening on either side of her in the walls and she sort of hoped that she wasn't as bad as the others. However when she heard an unexpected knock on her door, Kalina got up and paused her recording.
" Hello?" She asked as she opened her door and came face to face with who she was pretty sure was her neighbor. " Oh, hi" @wesxalexandre

Wes stared at the ceiling in his bed room as he could hear every word his neighbor was saying as she continued talking to whoever it was about a gruesome murder. Wes wasn't actually sure if Ivy could hear what was being said from her room, but Wes didn't want to chance his three year old hearing this and he was honestly tired of listening himself.
So, Wes got out of bed and went into the hall way where he knocked on the apartment door next to his where the Robert Stack wannabe was residing.

( taylor russell. cis woman . she/her) - the chicago resident , ( kalina slater-horne ) , was heard blaring ( hammer horror/kate bush ) this morning . the ( twenty five) year old is a ( true crime podcaster ) in the city & has lived the ( west ) tower for ( six months ) . since being here , they have been told to be ( shy ) , but also ( enthusiastic ) , i guess we'll find out soon !
tw :Death, Eating Disorder, Depression, Murder
Born in San Francisco as the only child of Lenora and Michael Slater, Kalina’s life started out like everyone else’s but would grow to be a little scary at times. From a very young age, Kalina loved to be scared. Her mother had been an artist and photographer who had instilled a love of the strange and unusual with her daughter which the young future horror fan gravitated to. She remembers getting her first book of poems by Edgar Allen Poe, the first time she peaked behind the blankets watching a slasher, or the first time she saw her first ever crush Elvira mix humor and horror to great effect. All of these were things that had inspired her greatly.
While she had been shy in school Kalina was able to turn into a far more introverted and outspoken person when it came to horror. It was that one niche that she knew everything about and could out do anyone knowledge wise about the genre. She knew she wanted to follow her mothers footsteps and do something creative that was also a little bit scary too. In many ways horror became a security blanket when others were cruel. It was hard at times to want to hang out with others who saw you as the weird girl; especially when they began pick on her because she didn’t seem to fit in with other kids in her grade. The more people we’re cruel to her the more she tried to ignore them. Her hobbies were a security blanket that only grew to protect her further once her mother died.
With her mother gone, Kalina started to lean into a more realistic horror; true crime . Her father was trying to protect Kalina and had tried to keep the reason her mother had died from her, but Kalina was a very inquisitive young woman and discovered her mother had been murdered and no one knew who had done it. San Francisco was a large city and one that seemed to have more and more people pass through daily. It was the fact that things had been a mystery that sent Kalina down a rabbit hole that followed her into adulthood.
She began to fixate on unsolved mysteries and murders and just wanted to find answers that she never got from her own mothers death. But as the longer time went on the more she began to alienate herself from other people. She started to not even notice the way people would bully her in school or the fact that her own father was dating someone again. She just wanted to focus on her hobbies because it kept her safe from dealing with the reality that she wasn’t coping with her mothers loss well. The more she’d research the less she’d sleep or eat or really do anything other than try to solve what happened to her mom. Eventually, her father had to step in and seek out help in order for Kalina to get better. On some level her fathers involvement helped more than anything because it revealed how much he had also been hurting from the death of her mother. They were able to be more open and bond again and soon Kalina was able to accept that there had been changes to her life and was able to finally leave home and move to Chicago to save up for school.
While things were looking up for Kalina, one thing remained. Her love of the macabre. Horror and true crime were deep within her bones and as she reached college age and began to figure out what she wanted to do in life, a life in horror was the only option. The scary and spooky never strayed too far from her heart. It was something that still tied her to her mother and as she matured and reached her twenties Kalina knew exactly what she wanted in life. She wanted to help bring a light to the unsolved crimes of the world. She wanted to see if anyone else could help her solve her mother’s murder. She knows it’s not much yet, but it’s the first step in her other life goal of saving up enough money to be able to go back to school and study criminology. While still incredibly shy in her day to day life, Kalinas star shines bright when others watch her as the scream queen and talk about unsolved mysteries. A confidence and self assured woman is slowly starting to emerge from the ashes of her personal tragedy.
