I reread dominoes recently, and I adore it! Still my favourite detective conan fic! Are you still in the fandom, or is the fic on the shelf since you're busy with other stuff?

Hi! I'm glad you love Dominoes!

I'm not really involved in the fandom anymore; a lot of DC canon and fandom stuff gradually drove me away over the years, and I've been struggling to love it like I used to. BUT none of my DC fics are abandoned, nor am I focusing on other writing projects. Dominoes is actually still my favorite project and my priority.

So...why isn't anything updating?

Well, the sad truth is, I just can't dedicate myself to writing like I used to. Between my job and my responsibilities, I don't have a lot of free time anymore, and when I do have free time, I can't help but want to use it to go on walks, or go to the beach, or just relax, instead of sitting down in front of my computer some more and writing. All my writing projects have kind of become stressors on their own, since I want them to be good, but get stressed when the words don't come out right. Even DA101, the silly project I started as a joke to be whimsical and fun and help me relax, now kind of stresses me out.

Which is NOT me complaining about its popularity, I'm delighted so many people enjoy my work and am deeply honored by it, but it does mean I can't help but put pressure on myself to meet everyone's expectations, and that makes it much harder to write. But then I feel stressed because I'm not updating and am letting you all down.

It is a mental wall I have to figure my way around, one way or another, I guess. Please be patient with me. I promise I'm trying. Messages like this, just letting me know you all still love these stories and want to see them continued, help a lot.

It's sad that it's not continued so i would love an update. But if you're not updating it do you mind if i write my own interpretation of what's happening next and post it with the "Inspired by" thing on ao3? Thanks for the time!

DA101 is not abandoned, I've been working on the final chapter slowly. It will be posted, though I make no promises regarding when. I know a lot of people are looking forward to the final chapter, but honestly, the pressure of that has been making it a lot harder to write. Nothing I put on paper seems worthy of meeting everyone's expectations.

That said, while I do welcome works based on mine, I do ask that you don't post a direct continuation of DA 101 before I post the final chapter.

Going through my own WIP folders is such an experience. I don't remember writing half this stuff. Just stumbled across a Eddie Brock/Peter Parker novelization of Absolute Carnage that I only vaguely recall writing and it's so good and probably the best romantic writing I've ever done but it also has a required reading list of around fifty comics from various eras of questionable quality, the 1995 medical disaster movie Outbreak, and one particular SNL skit from 2017. I think it would actually kill 99.99% of the people that go into either of the Peter Parker or Eddie Brock AO3 tags if I were to ever post it. I think the only person on the planet that would get it is Donny Cates himself, and I fear that is because he was actually possessing me like a malevolent spirit when I wrote it.

I'm jealous of other writers that write fanfiction to spite canon. I've always written out of love for canon, but when my frustrations with DCMK boil up, I find I can't write at all...

I originally intended for Spy x Enemy to be solely comedy, but the more I work on it, the less the wholly comedic tone works. I think I wanna take it in a more heartfelt and serious direction, though still with comedic moments. Is that going to devastate anyone's hopes and dreams?

I received this fantastic fancomic from c_art as my gift for the FTH Auction 2024. It’s an adaptation of/inspired by chapter 5 of what is quite possibly the funniest Detective Conan fic in existence, How to Be a Double Agent 101, by @scritch-scratches.

It’s so so interesting that Kaito is motivated by rage, one of my favorite things about him and it doesn’t come up often enough-

To me Kaito is definitely an icy cold kind of fury, not a burning rage, since that contrasts nicely with the very fiery Nakamori’s and how he’s able to keep his poker face over his anger so effectively.

I want to put this man under a microscope and watch him burn💕

Also, this chapter’s title song False Confidence by Noah Kahan is required listening (can’t go wrong with giving Miracle Pill by the Goo Goo Dolls a listen either)

Honestly so relieved that people like the “figured it out” part of the new chapter so much…it felt like such a gamble, like artistically? Now I feel silly for agonizing about it so much
