everything about the situation had wanda on edge. the most distressing being the possibility of being sent back to the raft looming over her head. all it would take was one person to call authorities and ross would have them sent back there. as if the first time wasn't bad enough, they'd surely be worse after a breakout.
wanda did her best to blend in and not draw any attention to herself. she had already caused enough problems for the people around her. she didn't need to add to that by being the reason they get found out. the weight of her mistake back in lagos still sat on her shoulders. steve had tried his best to talk her down, but ross and the raft had undone all of that. everything felt undone after that.
she slipped out of her room late at night. there was no possibility of getting to sleep anytime soon, but at least going for a walk would feel less suffocating than the hotel room she was currently in. she didn’t want to go too far, so she just wandered down to the pool. she’d heard clint enthusiastically tell them there was one, but she’d never gone before. if it wasn’t for the guarantee of it being empty, she wouldn’t even go now.
wanda moved quietly, making sure she didn’t wake anyone. she considered leaving a note but she doubted she’d be gone that long. wanda grabbed a keycard on the way out, shutting the door behind her. it wasn’t very far from the room so wanda found herself at the pool fairly quickly. she kicked off her shoes and sat on the edge, letting her legs dangle in the water. it was colder than she expected, but it didn’t take too long to get used to.
everything was quiet around her. peaceful. it gave her time to think. unfortunately, not much time to relax. every little noise had her on edge. giving her alone time to think was just more time for her to stress herself out with worst case scenarios. at least she got fresh air unlike back in the room. she didn’t have to worry about disturbing anyone out here either.
