“So it’s there, we’re there, we’re all there. Every color of the rainbow in drag, it’s just not being shown enough and I think we need to bring everybody to the forefront because there is room for everybody.”

Of course I can’t help but be enamored by a film that shows a talented duo with insane chemistry. Look they hate each other, they’re falling in love. They can’t stay away, they hilariously annoy each other and show us the aspects of any real relationship. These two, theyre dreamers, hard workers, motivated and talented. They dance in the street, sing in the night, they’re quite literally dancing in the stars! As such a charismatic little film, with catchy songs that you’ll be humming for weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I for one loved La La Land. But I came to question, what if it depicted a love society doesn’t see often in films? What if it was a love between two women, women of color nonetheless. What if instead of casting white, straight, A-list actors as the stars, in the role of undiscovered actors and musicians trying to make it big in the dream land, what if it casted diverse, underrepresented cultures and people in Hollywood. We all exist too, and we’re still here.
so here I give you a different little take on La La Land, in all of its diversity. ✨

HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY ‼️‼️‼️ I AM QUEER —> I am Transgender (he/him/they/them), Bisexual, and Polyamorous (but all of my past relationships have been monogamous). I believe it is necessary to recognize how far we have come so far in this fight, as well as acknowledging the LONG way we have to go to obtain true liberation (equity + equality + justice). PSA: IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO COME OUT! We, LGBTQ+ people, should NOT even have to “come out” in the first place, as all identities should be celebrated and treated equally; however, we are neither celebrated nor treated as equals. Today, we recognize all of the efforts that have gone into fighting and surviving this war. This war will continue long after we pass, so we must decide how we will take up arms. Now we must Choose our weapon(s): Sword or pen? We can not put up with tolerance , we must reach coexistence , and we prohibit any more oppression 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

What the Future Holds
I would love to see the inclusion of more LGBT individuals who are not cis or white. I believe everyone has a different story that can not always be relatable to the white, more priviledged character. I believe we still have a way to go, but we are making progress. To queer the audience with someone they can personally relate to, that actually LOOKS like them, is beyond beautiful.

In "Blush" ("Barash"), Naama finds herself in her sister’s shadow and living a relatively boring life until the rebellious Hershko shows up. Suddenly, Naama is in the midst of a sexual awakening that’s coupled with light drug use, lesbian clubs and an awkward first time. But Hershko’s family life has its own troubles, and she still insists on keeping her manipulative older ex around. At 17 and facing her first real love, however, Naama is willing to go all in. Writer-director Michal Vinik, however, insists the film is not a coming out story: “It’s not about that. It was never about that. I didn’t have a closet. For me, it’s not material that is interesting,”
"Blush" was shot at real parties and locations in Tel Aviv, and it's amazing soundtrack and authentic feel set it apart even within Israeli cinema. (Sunday, Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m.)
It’s always nice to see LGBT movies that include the Middle East, and this one was made in Israel. Israel is actually more accepting of LGBT individuals and more progressive than any other country in the Middle East. The fact that it was shot at real parties queers the audience because it makes them feel like they are actually there. I think the characters were nicely represented and gives a good insight outside of the US.

Title: Barash (Blush) Year: 2015 Language: Israel (Subtitles)
Plot: Naama is just like any other 17 year old. She is desperate to escape her glum family and to avoid her parents’ painful arguments, she distracts herself with friends, alcohol, drugs and sex. When Hershko arrives at her school, Naama becomes entranced and a beautiful relationship blooms. Is this another escape? Or the real thing?
Basic Review:
It feels like the real thing! Watching the relationship between two unique and strong characters was a wonderful and nostalgic throw back to that teenage lesbian romance film you may have once lived.
The constant use of natural light creates a dreamy, light, summer glare.
The story is a unique look at life of a young Israeli lesbian, navigating modern cultural shifts while living face to face with a racist, sexist and homophobic father.
Drawing on intense adolescent emotion, fueled by hormones, the protagonist’s realization of adulthood struck me. She discovers realities about herself, the people around her and the world, which was a fulfilling journey to witness.

“Paris 05:59 Theo and Hugo” is a French gay film that opens with an 18-minute orgy scene. The setting is a Paris sex club. The camera starts out surveying the bar area, where naked men sit chatting over drinks, then follows one middle-aged guy downstairs to an area where perhaps two dozen men are going at it.
“The emotional up comes crashing down, though, when they stop riding and start recalling what happened at the club. Hugo admits he had an orgasm inside Theo without using a condom, and he’s HIV+. He says he’s on meds and his viral load is negligible, but that doesn’t keep Theo from freaking out. An AIDS hotline they call advises going to a hospital right away. Theo says he doesn’t want Hugo to accompany him and sets off on his own. But Hugo follows him and, at the hospital, they see the doctor together.”
This film depicts the life of someone living with HIV+ and another one who believes for the whole movie that he may be HIV+ as well. However, throughout the movie, you get to see them bicycle around for 93 minutes as they fall in love. I think this film queers the audience with just the beginning of the movie and the orgy scene. It was amazing how there were so many people around them, but they found their way to each other. I believe they were portrayed well as LGBT individuals and made the movie very realistic, especially since the film was made in real time.
