Switching gears: You’re directing an adaptation of The Raven Cycle, a popular fantasy book series by Maggie Stiefvater. Can we get an update on that? Yes! It’s a series for SYFY. It’s funny the writer, Maggie—who’s awesome as you know, and just so multi-talented, musician, artist, writer, racecar driver—she just turned in a new draft of the pilot. We’re getting notes from the studio in two days. So fingers crossed!

Are you thinking about casting yet? We-ell, I have. [Laughs.] So yeah, we’re in the super fun parts. In fact, in my office right now I have some beautiful photos of my dream looks for the actors, and dream actors. But I can’t tell you yet!

Not even a hint on the vibes you’re looking for in Adam and Ronan? I’m sure you know those characters mean a lot to the fans. [Laughs.] Oh yeah. I don’t think I can really say. I think they’d get mad at me if I said something. But fingers crossed, fingers crossed.

if the trc show doesnt correctly portray the forever iconic scene in trk when ronan lynch touches adam parrishes hand for one (1) second and has an internal gay crisis and waxes poetic about oil spills in the ocean then whats the Point

Hello! I really love your podcast, I'm listening to it for the second time through!! I was just listening to Episode 16 when you are talking about Neeve being Gwenllian's mother and I had to message to explain (incase someone hadn't already) that its the big tree in the previous demon chapter (ch40) that is her mother, not Neeve!! I completely missed it at first but it suddenly clicked for me after listening to the audiobook (your recommendation worked on someone lol). Have a good day! :)

Wow! You’re on your second listen to the podcast? That’s amazing! We are sufficiently flattered and are glad you’re enjoying our ramblings.

It does make way more sense that her mother is a tree. Which is not a sentence you can imagine yourself saying in a lot of contexts, for sure. It also helps explain why Gwenllian and Blue have similarities with their magic and why Gwenllian is as mad as a bag of cats.

And yay for the audiobooks! We are always happy to expand the cult of Will Patton appreciation.

Oh, definitely!We both had quite emotional reactions to Maggie's reveal and I can assure you we are here for all of this. There isn't much to discuss yet but once we have things like casting announcements and episode titles and TRAILERS, you can bet we will be unable to contain ourselves for very long. It's such a fantastic sign that they went to Maggie to write the pilot, first of all. That's already a level of involvement most writers don't get when their works become movies and tv. Honestly, we kinda thought this was headed for development hell but we are so so happy to be wrong about that.

i know you said ronan won't grow his hair out in the dreamer trilogy but will he grow a beard? since he can, doesn't he owe the world to do so?

AU where Ronan’s beard begins to grow and somehow it is magical and uncuttable and at first his friends like it and then they think it’s uncomfortably Pacific Northwest hipster and then they feel it’s scary man in the woods and then it is big enough for him to use part of it as a nest for Chainsaw and then he uses it as a rug and then as a stair runner and then he gobs it up in a big beard-ball beneath his chin using a bizarre system of rubber bands and twist ties which no one likes and then he must dream small sentient beings to carry it behind him and then he must dream more and more of them and then as they spend more time in the world they see how climate change is ruining the forests that pulse with the dreams that made them and they decide they need to be agents for change and then because there are now so many of them because by now his beard is so long that they’re like a girl scout troupe they overwhelm him with their power and drag him to Washington where they form a picket line demanding reduced fossil fuel usage and then the world sees that tiny dreamed beard carriers exist and then the world realizes this means traditional religions are missing a huge part of the picture and then the whole world undergoes a devastating and thorough existential crisis which leads to widespread rioting and looting and cult activity with the beard carriers at their center which ultimately leads to Ronan and the beard carriers having to flee to a remote island in the Pacific and use his beard as a net to collect plastic waste in our planet’s oceans.

God, that sounds like a nightmare.

I think he owes it to the world to not grow a beard.
