Classic Binggeyuan where Bingge comes to the modern world and lives with Shen Yuan, but during his Bingmei-ification he starts making money by becoming a famous beauty/fashion influencer. He keeps shilling for shitty skincare brands like “this destroyed all my closed comedones!” But he doesn’t actually use any of it because the protagonist halo gives him magically flawless skin. Everyone is sure he’s using a filter.
Additionally speculation starts about the mentally ill shit he keeps dropping about his relationship with his partner. True crime creators fixate on him. His comments are full of “Bing-mei’s partner, please run if you see this”.
Eventually Binghe does a ‘my partner does my makeup! video where only Shen Yuan’s arms are in view and Binghe puts a filter over his voice (doesn’t want anyone else to listen to Yuan-ge’s gentle voice). Except Shen Yuan is an anemic baddie and his arms are covered in bruises, and everyone freaks out.

I need a The One Within the Villainess AU but for Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu.
I’m not entirely sure how the plot would go down, but I just really really want Shen Yuan to learn to love Shen Jiu, and for Shen Jiu to still be in there watching Shen Yuan live his life. Like Shen Yuan gets transmigrated into Shen Jiu’s body and at first Shen Jiu would hate it, and him, but he gets all these nice new memories of a loving family and emotions and eventually learns to appreciate Shen Yuan.
And then something happens that sends Shen Yuan spiraling and suddenly Shen Jiu’s back in charge of the body and pissed at the world for doing this to him.

THIS! I agree so much. Shen Yuan's sheer existence would devour Shen Jiu's every waking (and dreaming) thoughts if only Shen Jiu can know of him. Shen Yuan, who in the exact same circumstances that made Shen Jiu despair and be miserable, found acceptance, respect, and undying loyalty.
Shen Jiu would be obsessed. He'd loathe Shen Yuan. He'd crave Shen Yuan. And really, what's love if not obsession seen in rosy lenses?
If its rose tinted glasses, Shen Yuan has this in spades. If Shen Yuan knows of Shen Jiu's story, he'd definitely be obsessed with that narrative. He'd hate Airplane for not writing it, he'd crave every crumbs of content, he'd be a Shen Jiu sympathizer thru and thru. And really, how much closer can you get to a story than marrying it?
Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu would see each other and find someone to hyperfixate on. They'd fight, hiss, and probably try to kill each other once or twice. Then they'd cling so close, and sew their souls together if they could.
Fate? You mean Airplane's shitty writing?
Destiny? You mean what spat of Slave Nine's entire life?
Fuck no.
Shen Yuan would claw his way to a happy ending with his chosen one. To be with Shen Jiu.
Shen Jiu would rip his own path and carve his own story, if only to have a guarantee of life with Shen Yuan.
JiuYuan nation, how do we feel about Soulmate AUs?
Strictly speaking, I don't see JiuYuan as fated soulmates, but more of the I CHOOSE YOU ON FUCKING PURPOSE kind of soulmates, so I'm curious what the general energy is amongst the JiuYuan lovers out there!

I feel like Shizun! LBH aus have NO IDEA how to handle his obsessive energy. But like. The solution is so simple.
He would spoil the daylights out of Shen Yuan, giving him shelter and praise and head pats. He would make sure SY knows he’s the blatant choice for head disciple, and that if he were pregnant with SY, he would not abort him. It would be a recipe in doting. And he wouldn’t get sexual with SY, because that’s a child! He wouldn’t even think about that because he would be too busy planning out Shen yuans meals from now until he dies. And then, once Shen yuan becomes of age, he would have to fight an uphill fucking battle to seduce his Shizun. Because LBH would see him in his inner robes laying seductively on the divan and be like:
:O were you waiting for me to make dinner. my disciple is too cute! *pats head*
And SY’s thin face would cost him to combust on the spot.

Expanding on my other post about Shen [Yuan] Qingqiu wearing his hair in the Dead Anime Mom side ponytail: SQQ just keeps on planting death flags without even realizing it, especially of the Fridged Woman variety, and Shang Qinghua is pulling out his hair over it.
SQQ is in his depression post-conference and stops taking care of himself? "Okay, yeah, I get that you're in your feelings and all, but bro, can your bare-bones depression beauty routine not include the Dead Mom hairstyle?!"
"I don't know what you're talking about. It's obviously not the same, I'm a man."
"Cucumber-bro, can you please stop ending every conversation with, 'Oh, I have something important to tell you. We'll talk when I return'?!"
"What, I do have something important to talk to you about, I just don't want to get into it right now. Chill out."
"You cannot keep going on night hunts with Liu Qingge that involve you walking through meadows or beaches, bro, you are building a Dead Wife Memory Montage. The only way this could be worse is if you find a way to giggle under some blankets with him."
"... Okay, it's not like that and you know it, but now that you mention it, we did get attacked by a Joyful Hypnosis Silk Net Spider a few weeks ago..."
And so on and so forth.

AU where Shen Yuan got into a wife plot, was saved and wooed by Bingge, married him and was then promptly forgotten and replaced with a new wife.
Now he spends his days as a beautiful but neglected and unloved concubine, quietly pining for his cold husband.
('Pining, sad concubine' is only one step away from 'beautiful, grieving widow' so Sy is really getting into the role.)
He really, genuinely loves Binghe, but his husband doesn't even spare him a single glance.
Also, the other wives keep trying to pull him into their schemes and intrigues, ugh. Don't they know that a neglected, scheming concubine is the biggest death flag there is? No, no, a tragic concubine might survive, but a tragic, scheming one? Never.
So he spends his days wearing beautiful robes, sitting on dainty little benches, looking out of windows and sighing. Or strolling through the garden, looking at the pond and sighing. Or playing the qin and stopping to sigh now and then.
Just, a lot of sighing. And gazing yearningly at Binghe whenever he sees him walking through the hallways.
Binghe hasn't reacted to it yet, but Shen Yuan is sure that, eventually, the tragic concubine beam will be too strong to overlook.
Then, of course, everything goes to shit. A lot of the wives collude to kill Binghe, and Shen Yuan arrives just in time to see one of them come at Binghe with a poisoned dagger.
Now, what use is it to look beautiful and tragic if Binghe isn't there to see and appreciate it?
So Shen Yuan goes between them and dies an ugly, painful death in Binghe's arms.
Then, he opens his eyes again, two years in the past and back to being a beautiful but neglected concubine.
Shen Yuan sighs.
But alas, he has become very, very good at being a tragic concubine. The food isn't bad either and he can spend a big part of his days reading trashy literature when he isn't busy sighing.
So he's determined to go right back to it.
And he would, if it wasn't for the fact that Binghe suddenly pops up everywhere he goes.
It's very hard being a beautiful, neglected concubine when his husband wants to have conversations with him all the time!
How is Shen Yuan supposed to look tragic if Binghe dotes on him all the time? At least he acknowledges how beautiful Shen Yuan looks, even if they still have to work on the 'neglected' part.
(Unbeknownst to him, when Shen Yuan had lain dying in Binghe's arms, Binghe had looked at him and realised that he'd had someone who truly loved him right under his nose all this time. So of course, he searched for an artefact that turns back time.)
(And, being the protagonist, he managed this outlandish feat. When Shen Yuan had opened his eyes, back two years in the past, Binghe had as well, determined to win his beautiful, tragic concubine's heart.)
Obviously and shamelessly inspired by 'The Wife is First'.

AU/Fic prompt where SQH and SQQ are at the Northern palace for research when LBH challenges MBJ.
The mushroom bodies are being affected by seasons more than they thought and so SQH gets a transport talisman/artifact and has been using it to let him and SQQ to research certain flora in the northern desert and how they can protect mushroom bodies. It's easier to smuggle SQQ in then the texts out, and so far MBJ hasn't noticed.
(He has noticed he just doesn't mind because he trusts SQH and besides he is his future husband he should feel comfortable here)
So the 2 are there and freaking out when fight starts and SQH doesn't activate talisman because HE'S WORRIED ABOUT HIS KING OK?
And then...the monologuing starts... just like airplane wrote dramatic speeches par for course during fights...and the topic is MBJ attacking his Shizun which leads to LBH monologuing about SQQ and how he is going to prove himself and then marry him.... in process he insults SQH cue MBJ dramatic speech about SQH...
SQQ and SQH are just there blushing and brains/systems blue screening as they hear respective demons brag about them and their virtues and there future plans and are just silently screaming...
There can be no misunderstandings as both demons are being very direct/clear.
Things get awkward when SQQ and SQH are revealed and all 4 are just staring at each other... all internally screaming.

Shen Yuan transmigrates into a powerful ice demon and just goes "Oh neat! Cool clothes and I don't have to worry about dying!" And kicks his feet up to chill. He doesn't recognize his name, so he assumes he's just some terribly irrelevant mob character who happens to be rich and strong and is just glad to run around PIDW without any consequences. He manages to gather that he's some widower with a young son, so he immediately assumes he's in the clear from potentially being an enemy of Binghe's. His son is so quiet, and demons aren't great with giving names, so he doesn't even know what to call the boy at first. It feels odd to ask him what his name is. He just does his best with raising him in a way that he can only hope isn't too noticeably different than the way the original goods did it.
His son is still very quiet, but as he grows, he and Shen Yuan become closer. The little prince is such a sweet boy! He makes Shen Yuan little arts and crafts and leaves them on his desk to find. Anything from flower crowns to vaguely menacing knicknacs made of the bones of small animals. He'd be more scared if his son didn't seem so expectant of praise for the work. A few of them definitely resembled cursed idols, but who was he to judge his little demon son? There aren't any child rearing manuals, but from his own PIDW knowledge, this seemed developmentally on-track for demon kids.
But apparently the original goods wasn't rich and strong without consequence, because he's hounded with political matters before long. They're flooding his office with letters, hounding him for meetings, begging him to manage affairs in his territory. He's coming into contact with all these other powerful demons and has to pretend he's even slightly aware of what they're talking about.
During one of these meetings, some guy mentions the heavenly emperor, and Shen Yuan's like, "oh??? Binghe's here??? Already???" And he's furiously reworking his timeline, but the other demons are like, "who tf is Binghe. We're talking about Tianlang-Jun" and internally he's like, "who tf is Tianlang-Jun". Some poking around later, and he realizes he's REALLY far off from Binghes rise. Man's not even born yet. Honestly it makes him relax even more. He uses the time to get to know Tianlang-Jun a bit, just because he's so curious about Binghe's father! A full true Heavenly Demon! Not as cool as Binghe, who has both heavenly demonic and human cultivation abilities, but still cool! He's also just curious about the kind of man his blorbo's father was.
For some reason, Tianlang-Jun already has a son??? Upon closer inspection, a nephew? The conclusion, of course, is that something must've happened to both of them for them to not even be mentioned in the book. Deeply unfortunate, but not Shen Yuan's problem. Or that's what he would say, but Tianlang-Jun is seemingly very fond of him now. Something about being fellow single dads? He keeps bringing Zhuzhi-Lang around and foisting him onto Shen Yuan for a "play date" with Shen Yuan's son. Zhuzhi-Lang is a good boy, and very quiet, but he's also visibly older than Shen Yuan's son. Like, by a lot. But Shen Yuan is no expert on demonic aging rates, so maybe half snake demons just... look like grown adults? At this point, it's more like Zhuzhi-Lang is babysitting Shen Yuan's son while Tianlang-Jun fucks off somewhere without him. How irresponsible! But Shen Yuan accepts the free labor.
Years pass, his son grows- he also ends up with ice powers, as well as a spatial ability, though if Shen Yuan is correct, that power is likely from a demon tribe slightly south from their territory. It sounds familiar, but there are tons of reused abilities in PIDW. Nothing odd here! Eventually his son starts taking on jobs that Shen Yuan never asked him to do, in an effort to prove himself to Shen Yuan and also help him out. So at some point he takes it upon himself to go to take something from some cultivators.
It's not until his son comes back with a sniveling Shang Qinghua in tow that Shen Yuan realizes he must be very, VERY off the mark on who his character is.
Linguang-Jun was not, in fact, supposed to raise the future Mobei-Jun to be a dutiful son (nephew) who lacked abandonment issues and had a habit of leaving offerings on his uncle's desk like a cat, but since he neither knew who Linguang-Jun was nor the fact that Mobei-Jun was supposed to get dropped in the human world to be hunted for sport as a child, this was exactly the kind of Mobei-Jun that he had. Shang Qinghua, aka the hack author of this goddamn novel, has the audacity to complain to Shen Yuan about how he raised Mobei-Jun too well. When Shang Qinghua groveled and wailed and begged for mercy, Mobei-Jun brought him to his uncle! Because he "had the final say" in whether or not Shang Qinghua could swear fealty to him! What the fuck!
Mobei-Jun accepts Shang Qinghua's fealty at his uncle's behest, and Shen Yuan uses this attachment as a way to keep track of the timeline, including when Su Xiyan will fall pregnant with Tianlang-Jun's baby. In the meantime, Shen Yuan uses his own friendship with Tianlang-Jun as a way to mark his progress as well. He's met her a few times since Tianlang-Jun keeps dropping Zhuzhi-Lang off so they can run off on their little dates, but it's too odd to ask either of them if he's gotten her pregnant yet, so Shen Yuan tries instead to drop hints to nudge Tianlang-Jun in the right direction.
Talking about the joys of fatherhood, how adorable babies are, how unfortunate it is that some species, like humans, have very short windows of their lives in which they can have kids, and can even miscarry... Tianlang-Jun seems to get it- or maybe he's giving the man too much credit, because suddenly Tianlang-Jun is offering Zhuzhi-Lang as a surrogate with the insistence that "as a half-snake, he's guaranteed to give you litters! Even with a few dud eggs, he'll definitely give you a nice batch!" And "the gestational periods are short too, so you can always try again! As a heavenly demon, he's also very hardy! Your kids will be healthy for sure!" Shen Yuan has to firmly and kindly decline, though that seems to oddly disappoint Zhuzhi-Lang, who has been standing off to the side the entire time. Good sir, stand up for yourself! You don't need to do everything your uncle says! Filial piety only goes so far!
Anyway it's not long after that Su Xiyan actually gets pregnant. He expects canon to unfold from there, based on Shang Qinghua's unused old notes- Tianlang-Jun getting put under the mountain, Su Xiyan getting captured and dying after giving birth, Zhuzhi-Lang getting stuck in snake form and trying to free his uncle- all very sad and very necessary for Binghe's rise to power. Except for some reason Su Xiyan is now at Linguang-Jun's doorstep?! With Mobei-Jun?! Son, why do you look so proud of yourself?!
Apparently Mobei-Jun, who continued to pick fights with human cultivators, habitually came across Su Xiyan and her martial siblings. Su Xiyan, recognizing him, always let him off lightly out of consideration for Linguang-Jun. She warned him that as long as none of his attacks were fatal, she would let him go: but that if he killed any of her martial siblings, he would either die at her hands or suffer in the Huan Hua water prison. In return, Mobei-Jun, who was basically a semi-regular figure at the sect now, noticed immediately that she had gone missing when he showed up at the sect one day and it was another older cultivator that crossed blades with him, instead of her. Fast forward, and he's busting her out of captivity, and dragging her to Shen Yuan after she tells him that Tianlang-Jun is in danger. Shen Yuan is gobsmacked. The Old Palace Master hasn't even called on the other sects yet! Su Xiyan was in captivity for less than a day! What the hell, Mobei-Jun?!
But he cannot scold his dear nephew, who is looking at him so expectantly for praise. Instead, he calls on Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang to let them know about Su Xiyan's whereabouts, and then calls on Airplane. This damn hack author deserves the burden of this dilemma too!
Really, it's too late to turn back now, so after shaking Airplane's shoulders aggressively enough, the man finally agrees to pull some strings at his sect. The Old Palace Master's request for aid is turned down, Tianlang-Jun and Su Xiyan are alive, and it's not long before the Old Palace Master unfortunately qi deviates while attempting to cultivate in seclusion. Su Xiyan gives birth safely to a baby boy, and the human and demonic realms are in an uproar when Tianlang-Jun announces their marriage, but there's really very little they can do about it.
On the bright side, the two realms never merge. Unfortunately, Tianlang-Jun and Su Xiyan getting together seemed to have started a bit of a trend, and now Mobei-Jun was asking Linguang-Jun for permission to court Shang Qinghua??? And other cultivators that he met at the wedding have been extending offers and invitations to Linguang-Jun???
Shen Yuan would like to retreat back to the northern mountains and never come back.

Shang Qinghua: Who's my precious baby girl!
Mobei-Jun: Me.
Shang Qinghua: Uh, my king, I was talking to our daughter
Mobei-Jun: Oh...
Mobei-Jun, to their daughter: Listen here you little shit, if you think you can come to MY kingdom and steal MY title then you got another thing coming to you!
~~~
Shen Qingqiu: Who's my little white lotus!
Luo Binghe: Me, Shizun!!
Shen Qingqiu: Uh, Binghe, I was referring to our son
Luo Binghe: Oh...
Luo Binghe, placing their son inside a basket on the Luo River: It's time we go our separate ways. It's not you, it's me, but it's mostly you. Stay away from my Shizun
On one hand, I don't think that Shen Yuan's plan to "fake" his own death is actually a bad escape idea generally. He is missing additional insight into the head of a person (Luo Binghe) who now has very good reason to hate him forever and (in another life) famously likes to take gruesome revenge on anyone who has ever wronged him. Only way to get away from that kind of grudge, it seems.
On the other hand, the death that actually gets executed ends up being SO wildly dramatic and mind-bogglingly mysterious and unintentionally gut-wrenching that it's... laughable. A lot of this is not really Shen Yuan's fault, imo, as a lot of wild cards were coming up and his escape window was closely rapidly, so he seized it while he could. But the sheer MESS left behind... Incredible.
So, I'm currently imagining a scenario where Shen Yuan chooses and somehow manages to frame someone specific for his "fake" death. There needs to be some little story, right? Shen Yuan picks some truly loathsome demonic villain to blame like he's planning protagonist enrichment: Binghe can take some nice revenge on these losers for them "stealing" his original revenge from him. Neatly tied loose ends!
Airplane: "Holy shit, I don't know if I hate anyone this much to do this to them, bro. Wow. Okay. This'll be... uh, fun? Haha, what the fuck..."
Even better if Shen Yuan's scheme basically destroys Shen Qingqiu's body so that no one can do any weird necromancy shit. SUCCESS: Shen Yuan wakes up in the plant body a few years later. (Maybe the System is back; maybe it's mysteriously vanished.) He's expecting Luo Binghe to be more or less back on the path to becoming Demon Emperor of the world now that that strange Huan Hua Palace subterfuge isn't necessary... except... uh...
Well, it turns out that Luo Binghe and Cang Qiong Mountain Sect teamed up to curbstomp the poor villains that Shen Yuan threw into traffic here, and known Heavenly Demon Luo Binghe is just... hanging out on Qing Jing Peak again. There's a- ahem... obviously highly fictionalized song claiming that Luo Binghe basically had a breakdown cursing the evils of demons in front of Liu Qingge... and apparently they were both so mad at Shen Yuan's targets that they forgot to be mad at each other? And somewhere in there, the other peak lords got involved, and Wei Qingwei and Mu Qingfang did NOT like that cursed sword, and thankfully Yue Qingyuan was there to help wrestle a distraught Luo Binghe down at the end there, for Shen Qingqiu's sake.
Airplane: "Yeah, bro, I really don't fucking know. My protagonist is maybe getting something like therapy now...? Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge still look like they're chugging vinegar sometimes, but they're maybe trying to 'respect your memory' or some shit. Huan Hua Palace is sooo mad. Do you know how much shit we're getting from the other sects constantly for having a demon disciple? You broke them, bro. You broke my fucking story. Luo Binghe is teaching a junior painting class later and then going out on the town for drinks with his old classmates afterwards... If he's going to burn the sect down at some point, then he's being really fucking weird about it."
And Shen Yuan is, of course, horrified that he has apparently caused the protagonist to lose his groove. Were his deathbed words of wisdom too much? Luo Binghe is acting like some... normal guy trying painfully but earnestly to get over something? He has a pet dog. He's bringing snacks to weekly games night with other senior disciples. He's acting like a widower instead of collecting wives. It's incredibly "pathetic" compared to the ruthless go-getter main character of PIDW.
Shen Yuan, watching Luo Binghe try to achieve mental stability and healthy outlets: "Wow, it's worse than I thought. He's not himself at all! Should I do something to fix this?"
Airplane, who's kind of pissed that his story is in ruins but also lives here now and knows the way that PIDW was supposed to end: "Uh, maybe? Wow, I guess you could, if you really want... The broken System might like that, but... Quick question: bro, do you for real hate this kid?"
a little JiuYuan idea...
You have a world torn by war, where immortal cultivators struggle against the rising threat of demons. Somewhere in the struggles, a plan is hatched: find someone of unsurpassed beauty to give as tribute to a demon. This beauty will be a spy, an assassin, a blade that will strike at the heart of the demon forces. A good plan. A solid plan.
Shen Jiu is chosen as that beauty. He's taken into the cultivator ranks, freed from Qiu Jianluo, and trained for this one terrible purpose. He becomes Shen Qingqiu, a man of cunning and peerless beauty, with a reputation as sharp as his sword. To the demon side, he is a worthy prize, and they accept him as a bride.
Shen Qingqiu expects rough pawing, endless abuse, and other terrible things he's been taught that demons do. What he gets is a strange demon groom who smiles and laughs and blushes and treats him with respect. He's not dragged off to bed, and every seduction attempt is gently thwarted. What was hate becomes curiosity, and slowly the lines between enemy and friend begin to blur.
He was taught that demons are nothing but beasts, yet these beasts treat him better than the more civilized cultivators that tossed him into a lion's den. The more he tries to fulfill the mission, the more complicated it gets, and somehow, some way, his husband outsmarts him at every turn.
How could he know this demon, beloved comrade of the half-demon prince, knows his moves before he makes them? Transmigration is not something he knows about, and Shen Yuan isn't about to reveal his hand any time soon. Hell, it's basically keeping him alive up to this point!
He doesn't want a knife in the gut should he fail, after all. And Shen Qingqiu isn't the kind to hesitate for long.
Airplane: "Y'know what, actually? Go fuck yourself, Cucumber-bro! I'm tired!" Shen Yuan: "Why don't you come fuck me yourself, you cowardly fucking hack?" Airplane: "Of course you'd want me to fuck you, you-" Shen Yuan: "Continue that sentence and I'll-" Airplane: "You'll what, bro? Kiss me to shut me up?" Shen Yuan: "You corny little shit, of course you'd think-" (Arguing continues for some time before they inevitably start making out sloppy style.)
Bonus:
Mu Qingfang is waiting quietly in the background. He has to check on them because these two got into another "incident" on a "two player quest"--whatever that means-- again. This is the 4th time in the last month.
He later learns there's a betting pool on whether they're courting (or will begin courting). Wei Qingwei and Qi Qingqi have their bets on 'they're defintely hate-fucking.'
Prompt: AU where SY transmigrated into a murder mystery version of PIDW and is bounded by the SQQ role (murderer) who gets caught by detective LBH, and eventually when LBH finds out SQQ is like, "no wait this is just one big misunderstanding I didn't-" and like, LBH doesn't care they start making out anyway. (LBH actively helps him clear out the evidence because he's unhinged and in love❤️)
When the system had dropped him on the scene of an active— or rather, just concluded— crime scene, it had claimed its design philosophy was “you can you up, no can no BB”, but Shen Qingqiu had serious doubts! How was he supposed to change the story of a murder mystery if the murder had already taken place? After this point wasn’t everything already set in stone? The young, bright Luo Binghe would discover his cruel new mentor, Magistrate Shen, was responsible of this and countless other heinous crimes, and then Shen Qingqiu would be sentenced to death! Shen Qingqiu didn’t wanted to be quartered!
In response to Shen Qingqiu’s frantic proding as he hurriedly worked to dispose of the body (thank god the system provided instructions for that part, at least, but Shen Qingqiu’s stomach still twisted every time he looked at the beautiful young man, lukewarm from blood loss but not yet corpse cold), the system claimed it was possible for Shen Qingqiu to survive, but then it turned around and forced him to carry the bloody knife at all times, claiming it was an essential plot point, even though it wasn’t supposed to be revealed for months! Bullshit! Obviously none of Shen Qingqiu’s choices mattered in the face of reader satisfaction! Shen Qingqiu knew what kind of sadist lurked in the PIDW comments section, calling for evert kind of torture once Shen Qingqiu’s many crimes were revealed. (Shen Qingqiu’s own comments were different, of course: he only demanded righteous justice, not senseless torture porn! Castration had been a real legal sentence in time period this anachronistic mess was supposedly set in!)
Thanks to this stupid faulty piece of software, the only thing Shen Qingqiu could think to change was to treat Luo Binghe better once the protagonist showed up, assigned as Shen Qingqiu’s new assistant. Not that Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t have done that, even without the threat of death! Luo Binghe was an incredible character trapped in a stupid, trope-y story that didn’t let his obvious intellect shine through! Shen Qingqiu took great delight in taking Luo Binghe through the cases that had been mere footnotes in PIDW proper, little more than excused for Luo Binghe to meet this or that new freshly orphaned, widowed, or wronged woman.
Luo Binghe was so quick to make the right connections, and he glowed under Shen Qingqiu’s every head pat and word of praise. He even ignored all the simpering women, only ever seeking Shen Qingqiu’s approval! Clearly, a man as talented as Binghe was meant to be married to his job, at least until someone good enough to be his match came along. The only draw back was that for some reason, in absence of women to roll around with, Luo Binghe has started to seek out hugs from his mentor.
But it was a lot harder for Shen Qingqiu to hide his hard, pointy Plot Relevant Object when Luo Binghe was sticking to him all the time! Shen Qingqiu was forced to avoid his touch at every turn, only drawing more suspicion to himself. Obviously that was why Luo Binghe had pressed Shen Qingqiu between a wall and his own firm body, his arms on either side, trapping Shen Qingqiu in. Now Shen Qingqiu couldn’t escape a pat down without physically fighting Luo Binghe off!
“Magistrate Shen,” Luo Binghe purred, pulling open Shen Qingqiu’s robes, groping for the firm object that must have been pressing into Luo Binghe’s thigh, “is that a knife, or—“ Luo Binghe pulled out the knife, even its sheath caked in blood stains just to be extra sure it could be recognized as a murder weapon from a kilometer away. “Oh.” Luo Binghe’s face fell.
Shen Qingqiu’s heart squeezed. Even after all his suspicious behavior, Luo Binghe has still hoped his mentor wasn’t guilty! But now, the noble young man would be forced to turn Shen Qingqiu in, knowing justice was more important than—
“Magistrate Shen really shouldn’t carry that around.” Luo Binghe sighed “This Binghe will dispose of it for you tomorrow.” There was something very wrong with Shen Qingqiu’s hearing! See, Binghe was grabbing his wrists now, that was more like it, surely Luo Binghe would be dragging him away any minute now!
Luo Binghe’s face crashed into Shen Qingqiu’s, enough lip grazing Shen Qingqiu between the scrape of teeth that it could generously be called a kiss. Shen Qingqiu’s mind stuttered to a halt. In the corner of his vision, a system window popped up, displaying a 300p resolution gif of confetti.
Bingqiu AU where Luo Binghe's the chosen village sacrifice to the evil deity who lives up the mountain.
Normally the village sends maidens, but they've more or less run out of expendable girls of the right age and, ahem, "virtues". So of course Luo Binghe's early life bad luck kicks in. In the wake of his mother's death there's no one to really care about what happens to him, he's fairly pretty, and the village leaders decide that if they dress him up like a girl the teenaged homeless kid should pass well enough. And hey, y'know, he's probably got a hard life ahead for him anyway -- dying in a brothel of some venereal disease or on the streets of exposure or starvation. At least as a sacrifice, everyone else gets to benefit from his loss! And the kid will get added to a shrine and be remembered as a hero! If anything, he should be happy about this!
Binghe is not happy about this.
But he's also a skinny underfed nobody who is easily overpowered, dressed up like a bride, and tied to a post. So. Not much he can do but wait for the evil deity to come and do whatever horrible thing he's gonna do to him.
Meanwhile, Shen Yuan is pretty sure he's been isekai'd into the over-powered hero of some kind of supernatural adventure story? He's not totally sure because he doesn't recognize the setting, but the signs are there. He's got a shrine-like base of operations (though it seems to have become corrupted/ruined, probably he has to restore it somehow), he has a very resilient and handsome new body with spiritual energy of some kind flowing through him, and a very clearly magical sword. Plus lots of neat starter powers! Though it feels like he has other abilities that have been blocked somehow? Probably he has to level up in order to access them.
When he treks out of his "base" and finds what seems to be a distressed maiden, he takes it for his beginner hero mission. The girl claims that she's been doomed to be sacrificed to an evil god. That sounds a little above Shen Yuan's pay grade for dealing with, so he unties her and decides that they had better just get out of the whole region altogether. He already packed up anything useful from his base, anticipating he might get caught up in an adventure once he left, so they follow the river away from the settlement until they reach another one.
While they travel, Luo Binghe tells Shen Yuan about the cursed deity, Shen Qingqiu, who was cast out of the heavens for slaughtering one of his brethren and has apparently being do-who-knows what to maidens from the local village in exchange for his "protection" ever since. Sounds like a real asshole! And also mid-level boss type bad guy at least. Shen Yuan hopes he doesn't have to fight him, but he probably will.
Thank goodness he found Binghe, though! Clearly the helpful little sister type! He's definitely going to require her assistance if he's going to figure out how to navigate this world and level up his skills enough to take on a god.
repost of earlier svsss AU minus the art because i was rudely flagged down smh
art is now available on twitter!
my train stop for the arbour discord event! a lovely little monster!Shen Yuan AU with some classic obsessive affection from both Shen Yuan and Binghe, classic! i gave it the title "PIDW Playthrough: Easy Mode"
in this au Shen Yuan actually transmigrates well before Binghe is born. he's supposed to transmigrate into Shen Qingqiu's body (hence some silmilarities in facial shapes, as much as Shen Yuan currently has discernible facial shapes) but Shen Qingqiu is still very much alive and kicking (and still a street urchin), so the System hits a wall with where to put him. this causes Shen Yuan's soul to "fester" in a way, and grow into a virus that then turns on the System.
yes, he eats the System. as a treat for all the system haters out there. this means that he successfully consumes everything the System contained, including the mandatory story structure and information on nearly every parameter of the PIDW world, among other things. the only issue is that this information takes a lot of time and effort to actually digest, and it puts him in a kind of coma, which means he wakes up approximately a year into Binghe's tutelage and abuse on Qing Jing Peak.
Shen Yuan wakes up as a creature that exists in the blank spaces of PIDW, in the shadows and beneath rocks and in the dark night sky. he also wakes up incredibly weak, with barely any power and in a body that is formless and so undefined that he has trouble interacting with the world around him. he has knowledge though, a lot of it, and he uses it to find his way to Qing Jing Peak and to the woodshed where Luo Binghe sleeps. their first encounter begins with Shen Yuan sneaking in through the gap beneath the door, tugging a small jar of medicine with him. Luo Binghe's body recognises his presence as something ancient and eldritch, even as his mind struggles to see what's so scary about a puddle of shadows with two bright blue, rectangular eyes. and so the saga of Shen Yuan living in Luo Binghe's shadows begins. Shen Yuan gathers his strength while following Luo Binghe around, giving him advice after advice, teaching him, helping him practise. for every punishment Shen Qingqiu doles out, Shen Yuan commits a petty crime or two, although Binghe insists that it's fine. he's loyal to Shen Yuan now, who seems happiest when he manages to help Luo Binghe, and who teaches him more and better than any other hallmaster.
Shen Yuan goes on all available side-quests, saving Liu Qingge in the Lingshi-caves and assisting Luo Binghe and Cang Qiong as a whole during the demonic invasion. he's pulled into the dreamscape Meng Mo builds for Luo Binghe, where Luo Binghe once again refuses to take Meng Mo as his Shizun. when the Immortal Alliance Conference rolls around, Shen Yuan helps Luo Binghe in his battle with the Black Moon Rhynoceros Python when his cradle seal breaks, but hesitates when Shen Qingqiu is about to push Luo Binghe into the Abyss. he ultimately lets him, if only so that Binghe will finally be free from Shen Qingqiu's abuse. they fall together, Shen Yuan cushioning Luo Binghe's landing, and then they search for Xin Mo together. with Shen Yuan's knowledge it's laughably easy, and they resurface in the Demon Realm a few months later, where Shen Yuan insists that they spend some time in seclusion so that Binghe can grow into his new body and his new sword (which Shen Yuan somehow bullies into being relatively docile. he's an omnipotent eldritch monster, he can totally do that. i don't make the rules). neither of them says anything about how nice this seclusion is, or how they kind of don't want to go back to society ever again.
demonic heritage and Xin Mo mastered, they go on a roadtrip to absolutely demolish Mobei Jun and every other Demon King/Demon Noble/etc. and gain power in the Demon Realm. Shen Yuan insists that they do so for the sake of reaching Luo Binghe's "bright, glorious fate" (minus the wives, which he bristles at the mere thought of. his sweet Binghe is too good for those shallow women!). Luo Binghe is not sure he cares enough so long as he gets to curl up among Shen Yuan's silky-soft, gentle tendrils every night and gets to hear him ramble on about this or that random monster they came across. one day, as he's cleaning Xin Mo at the edge of a bloodied battlefield with Shen Yuan at his back telling him what a good job he did, he says so. Shen Yuan is confused - doesn't Binghe want power and riches and revenge? but Luo Binghe tells him he doesn't really care at all, so long as Shen Yuan stays with him.
that's as far as i thought, so cue the obligatory Shen Yuan freak-out (can a mass of non-binary but male-identifying shadows be gay? maybe it's better not to put a label on it) aaaand yeah they totally get married. they probably get a small cottage in the middle of nowhere relatively close to a village and live a quiet, happy existence for the rest of their lives, occasionally interrupted by this or that demon or cultivator appearing to kill Luo Binghe the demon emperor and bring his head back as retribution for his or her ancestors (Binghe totally ditched his half-assembled empire for that monster D. he does not give a fuck). maybe they go on adventures together. Shen Yuan gets infinite chances to infodump, and Luo Binghe stares at him with heart eyes as he listens. win-win.
cut to Shang Qinghua frantically panicking about where the protaginst is. nothing gets resolved, but at least bingyuan are happy, i guess. maybe Shang Qinghua gathers his energy and helps Mobei Jun usurp the throne instead. or not. what do i know.
