he   turned   his   back,   glancing   down   at   her   fingers   as   they   grabbed   onto   his   shirt   and   with   a   low   chuckle   he   continued   on   walking   towards   their   room.   it   was   funny   how   she   actually   thought   anyone   could   ever   harm   her,   not   when   Christopher   was   in   sight   and   ready   to   take   action   if   necessary.      the   walls   in   their   room   weren’t   thin   as   he   pre   requested   over   the   phone   just   a   few   hours   ago   and   at   that   point,   it’s   all   that   he   cared   about.   who   knows   who   or   what   could   be   their   next   door   neighbor   ?   the   only   person   he   could   ever   trust   is   himself   and   juliet.   ❛      if   you’re   that   squeaky   clean   ..   i   brought   two   pairs   of   sheets   so   don’t   worry,   okay   ?   we’re   not   gonna   get   infected.      ❜   he   brings   out   two   white   sheets   from   his   shoulder   bag,   showing   them   in   the   air   for   juliet   to   see   then   placing   them   on   top   of   the   counter.   he   leans   against   it,   folding   his   arms   as   both   of   his   long   white   sleeves   were   pushed   up   towards   his   muscles.   christopher   leans   forwards,   his   warm   breath   against   his   ear,   then   he   swiftly   wraps   his   arms   around   her   waist   before   humming   the   song   they   used   to   do   for   karaoke   in   high   school.   His   lips,   the   ones   that   really   didn’t   want   to   smile   tonight,   creep   into   a   grin.   ❛   if   i   was   your   first,   why   don’t   you   let   me   be   your   last   ?   how   does   that   sound,   princess   ?         ❜

           she  can’t  help  but  offer  a  playful  roll  of  her  eyes  at  the  sight  of  the  sheets  he  somehow  managed  to  remember  to  grab  for  purposes  like  this.    ❛  you ... are absolutely unbelievable.  ❜   she  jokes  with  a  small  shake  of  her  head,  the  tension  filled  car  ride  being  in  the  back  of  her  thoughts.  now  that  he  was  back  it  almost  felt  as  if  he’d  never  left,  maybe  things  could  eventually  return  to  normal  ??  she  presses  her  cheek  against  his  chest  once  she’s  pulled  to  him  and  every  muscle  in  her  body  relaxes . it’s  that  song;  the  one  she  could  never  forget  even  if  she  tried,  the  one  that  also  played  in  the  car  on  their  first  date  to  the  drive  in  theater.  juliet’s  own  growing  smile  mimics  christopher’s  and  her  cheeks  had  definitely  darkened,  especially  upon  hearing  the  pet  name  ‘princess’  roll  off  his  tongue  so  adoringly.   ❛  i did vow ‘til death do us part, didn’t i ?? i should’ve known what i was getting myself into.  ❜   the  young  woman  teases,  pulling  back  so  she  can  tilt  her  chin  up  and  look  at  him.  it  was  the  first  time  in  five  years  that  she  got  to  see  his  smile  again.  the  sight  reminded  her  of  the  times  when  she’d  be  greeted  by  that  exact  look  every  time  he  walked  through  the  front  door.   ❛  i know there are serious topics we need to discuss and we will, ❜   she  presses  the  palm  of  her  hand  over  his  heart  as  the  other  cups  his  cheek,   ❛  but i want to save that for tomorrow. can we just enjoy being together tonight ??  ❜

the   car   drive   to   the   motel   was   quiet   but   deadly.   he   was   checking   his   back   every   five   minutes   to   see   if   anyone   was   following   him,   or   listening   to   him.   which   is   why   he   took   out   every   single   electronic   device   he   could   ever   own   a   threw   it   all   out   in   the   trash.   money   was   wasted   but   it   spared   his   life   and   juliet   life   for   a   while.   The   motel   he   picked   was   one   of   those   seedy   places   men   with   beer   guts   went   to   bang   other   men's   wives   with   promises   they   couldn't   afford   to   keep.   Or   else   the   hooker's   brought   their   john's   there   and   paid   for   rooms   by   the   hour.   Weeds   grew   through   the   cracks   in   the   concrete   path   and   the   litter   from   cheap   take-out   meals   were   strewn   across   it.   There   were   external   wooden   stairs   that   lead   to   a   second   floor,   a   second   row   of   doors,   that   looked   like   the   building   inspector   was   either   bribed   to   pass   it   or   drunk   on   the   job.   There   were   at   least   two   screaming   matches   going   on   in   separate   rooms,   and   the   cars   in   the   lot   wouldn't   have   been   out   of   place   in   a   wrecker's   yard.   No   one   would   ever   think   he   would   ever   come   and   stay   in   the   place   with   the   amount   of   money   he   has   but   it   was   good   cover   up.   ❛      they   said   this   was   the   last   room   they   had   …   sorry   about   that.      ❜   he   faces   juliet,   a   small   smile   spreading   across   his   feature   followed   by   a   nervous   chuckle.   not   so   sure   how   she   would   take   this   situation   since   they   would   be   sleeping   in   one   bed.   together.

           it  had  been  motels  specifically  like  this  that  gave  the  word  a  notorious  reputation  for  the  activities  that  partook  inside  the  rooms.  juliet  was  not  a  woman  with  expensive  taste  but  even  this  was  way  lower  than  what  she’d  expected.  no  more  than  a  couple  of  inches  were  left  between  them  as  she  trailed  close  behind  christopher.  the  barely  muffled  arguments  made  her  reach  out  and  take  a  fistful  of  his  shirt  in  hand,  holding  on  as  if  it  was  a  lifeline.  there  were  very  few  things  that  scared  her  and  this  place  definitely  took  the  cake.  she  unlatches  herself  from  him  once  they  made  it  inside  the  room  and  the  door  is  shut  with  a  creak.   ❛  i’m just glad the bedding is relatively clean.  ❜   she  muses,  fingers  trailing  along  the  polyester  material  that  luckily  appeared  to  be  only  partially  worn  out.  the  thought  of  who  else  had  shared  this  bed  having  made  her  more  uncomfortable  than  anything  else  in  comparison  by  far.   ❛  but i still think i’m going to sleep on top of the covers to be safe.  ❜   juliet  tucks  a  loose  strand  of  hair  behind  her  ear  and  meets  his  eyes,  her  cheeks  showing  the  smallest  hint  of  pink.   ❛  i haven’t ... been with anyone else. it never even crossed my mind once.  ❜

        Leah has not been on a date in so long, not since she’d finished high school. Not since her father died and the company went under. No, since then it’s been a struggle of being the breadwinner of the family, finding any means to keep her and her little brother a float as they pay off the debts left by her father. She’s not even sure why she agreed to this date, but she’s there sitting in her booth of the restaurant ( one she doesn’t work at thankfully ) waiting for the guy to show up.

           it  wasn’t  out  of  the  ordinary  for  caleb  to  get  set  up  by  a  coworker  who  thought  they  had  the  perfect  girl  for  him.  he’d  show  up,  try  to  make  some  small  talk  and  act  interested,  insist  on  paying  the  bill,  then  head  back  home  for  the  night  with  or  without  his  date.  the  male  figured  this  time  would  be  no  different  until  he  found  none  other  than  leah  waiting  for  him  at  the  reserved  table.  most  would  panic  or  run  away  but  caleb  was  unconcerned  and  determined  to  remain  poker  faced.  all  he  wanted  was  the  chance  to  have  the  last  word,  to  be  the  one  walking  away  instead  of  the  one  left  behind.   ❛  did i step through a portal to the past ??  ❜   he  flashes  a  quick  yet  contemptuous  smile  as  he  slides  into  the  booth  across  from  her.   ❛  surprised i can afford a salad here, hm ??  ❜

yIKES!!1! i know i haven’t been responding to y’all but i’ve been working on my online portfolio nonstop so i kind of put replying on the back burner. anyways, i’ll get back to everyone either tomorrow or saturday! and my boyfriend returns from basic in less than two weeks so yAY
