I shelved this synth line for a few months because I couldn't figure out where I wanted to go with it. After wandering around Ojai, California a few weeks ago I was inspired by this creek to add some field recordings that the melody could build off of. Be sure to stream/download the vignettes at the link in bio. Thanks for listening 🎧🎶 #newmusic #ambientmusic #sellesvignette
Here's the new vignette, "Pale Blue" This month I took influence from photos and videos of our planet from space and wanted to make something that felt like floating above Earth. 🎧 are recommended, thanks for listening :] Check it out on YouTube, link in bio #sellesvignette #newmusic
My first experience with electronic music and what made me want to discover how to create it was the ambient works of Eluvium, Brian Eno, Helios and others like them. I've tried to add a bit of that type of music into whatever I make; however, I've always wanted to explore that more fully. With that in mind I've decided to create a year long project that will have me creating and releasing a new ambient vignette every month. I will be putting them on YouTube and Facebook as a video series, and at the end of the year will release all of them in an album format. I hope you will all join me in this project and enjoy the journey. One thing I've been experimenting with is setting recording limitations to create songs within. This song was limited strictly to analog hardware and each track was improvised. I recently got a drum machine and I've been finding ways to put it in every song. The ability to connect with hardware rather than look at it through a screen is incredibly inspirational.
Final instrument tracking for the next album begins this weekend! With that in mind, I probably won't be seeing much of the sun for the next few weeks. I was lucky enough to explore Malibu Creek a few weeks ago, and here's one of my favorite photos from wandering around there. #sellesmusic2017
Last night I was messing around with an iPad synth app and made a little melody that I really liked. This morning I recreated it in my computer and added more instrumentation to it. Say what you will about technology, but the ability to write music virtually anywhere opens up a lot of avenues for inspiration.
