buggy had been quiet that day - the absence of his maniacal screeching or laughter quite obvious. he hadn't approached crocodile nor mihawk in a few days, choosing to lie low. even he wasn't sure why he was doing it, but he knew he hadn't been feeling himself lately. he knew he could no longer go around calling himself the most dazzling star clown of the grand line. he knew he was nothing but an imposter at this point and perhaps that was truly getting to him, especially with two powerful ex - warlords being his supposed partners.

he paced, and paced, and paced, feet carrying him through lines of tents that made up the little camp that the cross guild set up. not only had he been quiet, but even his make up had gone minimal - there was something truly wrong with this clown.

he nearly jumped out of his skin upon hearing that cold voice call out to him, the clown whipping around to meet the sharp gaze of mihawk. he felt his throat run dry, his jaw clenching. he suddenly realized why he had been avoiding both of the men, especially this one before him.

mihawk seemed intent on walking past him, not once acknowledging him ... but buggy was wrong. he felt that hand press against his back, goosebumps erupting at the touch. for some stupid reason, buggy kept losing his nerve around mihawk, much worse than anyone else. what makes it even more difficult, is that he isn't sure if he was fearful or not. something had changed in him.

if mihawk glanced back at him, he might see the flush on his cheeks.

will he ever be seen as something more than "the failure of a cabin boy" that used to be apart of the roger pirates??? he thinks he's doomed to this fate, but he continues to fight it tooth and nail. buggy just wants to be great like shanks, and like roger, but instead his ragtag pirate crew dont even give much of a fuck if someone more powerful comes along, and he gets his ass handed to him but the straw hats when they were only a trio!

buggy is clawing at a chance to prove himself, to be worthy of those he compares himself to, and to be loved and admired, yet, after the formation of the cross guild, he's starting to see himself more and more resigned to his fate as a punching bag.

buggy honestly is a pretty strong character. not like ... fighting wise, but this man is able to survive, and persevere despite being in several life altering circumstances. buggy isn't someone who was really built to fight, not like how shanks, or crocodile, or mihawk fight, but to survive and live.

believe it or not, my buggy in particular was built to love, not just survive. he's doomed himself to the fate of being unable to achieve his dream of pirate king - because let's be real, he doesn't have what it takes. but in all reality, he just wants approval. he wants his name to be known. he doesn't want to be alone anymore, and if he was surrounded by people who held him in glory as the king of pirates, then he would no longer be so alone.
