Puppy Packs

I've got a few requests for puppy packs, so here ya go!

In packs with 3+ pups, the pups will often form puppy packs. Aka their own little pack inside the pack.

Puppy packs are always run by the eldest pup living with the pack.

They try to solve their problems among themselves before going to the adult members of the pack if needed and allow pups to explore their instincts without expectations from adult members.

Basically, puppy packs are very beneficial to the growth of pups.

Most packs know if there is a puppy pack within their pack, but it is common knowledge not to mention it or get involved, as that could halt the independence and learning of the pups.

Depending on how old the puppy pack leader is, the adults will allow them to watch over the pups alone and take them to public places without adult supervision. Although usually, the pup leader has to be at least fourteen for the pack to allow that.

If possible, puppy packs cuddle more than the rest of the pack. Puppies are constantly found snuggling in small spaces or under the blankets of someone’s nest.

There can be generations of puppy packs within the same pack. For example, if five pups were born within three years of each other, they will form their own puppy pack. But when new pups are born, typically the youngest member of the original puppy pack will take on the role of leader in the new puppy pack, although they are guided by and helped by the older puppy pack at first.

On the other hand, in some packs they just have one puppy pack that every new pup is added to.

Pups are dangerously protective of their puppy mates. Because they are not in perfect control of their instincts yet, they cannot control their anger or fear and it causes them to lash out at whoever the perpetrator may be. Even if it is an older pack member.

Puppies never truly leave a puppy pack unless they are intentionally breaking off. The puppy pack kind of just lose their title as the pups grow up although the generation of pups in the pack will be closer to each other and better understand each other’s needs than to other pack members.

If a pup is adopted into the pack or if a family with a pup joins the pack, the puppy pack usually welcomes them right in and tries to make them feel comfortable and safe. There is the rare occasion, however, where the pup leader will at first reject the new pup to protect the other puppies.

Older puppies pass down the non-instinctual knowledge they’ve learned to younger pups, such as certain pack dynamics or behavior. And the adults always know when this is happening because there will be a sudden increase in the pup’s noises and behavior that doesn’t quite make sense or fit the situation. It is both extremely endearing and hilarious.

The hardest part about puppy packs is when a pup has to physically leave the pack, like go to college in a far location. And usually, it’s the leader first since they are the oldest. The puppy pack has a very hard time adjusting to the gap in the pack and the pups are inconsolable and distressed for weeks.

Of course, that just makes reunions better. The missing pup is tackled by the rest of the pups and not let go for their entire time with the pack. There will always be a pup on their lap or against their side.

Suppressants

So, this is currently something I’m working with in my own fic. I’ve seen a lot of different opinions on suppressants and points of view on how they work or how to use them. Here’s I how go about suppressants.

-Suppressants come in multiple different forms. They comes as salves, pills, and injections. Each have their own effects and how long they work.

-Salve; Works as a scent blocker, and if needed, can offset heats and ruts for a short amount of time. Takes about 15 minutes to work after being applied lasts as a scent blocker for about 8 hours, and a heat/rut offset for up to 2 hours. Overuse can lead to immunity to heat/rut offsets and can speed them up in certain cases.

-Pill; Works as birth control for all gender. Must be taken daily. Will not stop heats. Certain types include scent blocks. Very few side effects, such as weight gain, decreased libido, headaches and nausea. Extended usage could effect fertility.

-Injection; Stronger version of the pill. Works as birth control for all genders. Certain types include scent blockers. Stops any symptoms of heats/ruts while on the drug. Lasts three months per injection. Recommend to allow a heat/rut once per year. Continued usage without a heat/rut allowed occasionally can lead to permanent damage (i.e. permanent sterilization, permanent disablement of natural hormone release, permanent disablement of natural heats/ruts, permanently blocked scent) and/or sudden onset immunity to the supressant, causing a sudden and severe heat/rut.

-There are certain ‘all natural’ suppressants, but they rarely work nearly as well as chemical suppressants.

-‘All Natural’ scent blockers are becoming more and more popular.

-In my current fic, there is an omega character who has been using suppressants via injection for 8 years. He’s been upping the dosage again and again, and as stated above, he goes through a sudden immunity jump to the drug. He drops into an extremely intense heat that lasts for 11 days opposed to what used to usually be 5 days. He does have help with it, from an Alpha, but it takes him a couple days to recover from it rather than just a few hours.

-Alphas who have been on suppressants for extended periods of time tend to take a couple extra months for their ruts to come back, while Omegas and Betas will usually fall into routine heats/ruts within a few weeks.

Alphas Comforting Omegas Headcanons

-An Omega having a bad day at work and being all quiet and sulky through dinner until they are startled by their Alpha scooping them up and carrying them upstairs before wrapping them snuggly in a blanket, plopping down in bed with them and telling them to just vent about whatever is bugging them. So for almost an hour the Alpha quietly cuddles their upset mate as their complaints go from rushed and angry to slow and tired until finally the Omega tires themselves out and they just crash. The Alpha being very pleased when the Omega wakes up feeling much better

-An Alpha not being home when they receive a distressed phone call from their very pregnant Omega who is crying about how cute puppies are, so the Alpha stops at a store to buy chocolate and a giant stuffed dog before returning home and cuddling up with their mate who is now crying about how much they love their Alpha

-A pregnant Omega avoiding intimacy because they feel gross and fat and their Alpha notices so the Alpha goes out of their way to kiss and praise every inch of their lovely Omega, paying special attention to their large tummy and reminding them just how much they love them

-An Omega who is just feeling down for some reason and being clingy with their Alpha and the Alpha low-key loving it so they carry the Omega around with them wherever they go in the house and press random kisses to their forehead

-An Alpha noticing that their Omega looks sad about something so they slowly sneak up behind them before sweeping them up into their arms and spinning them around while giving their face lots of loud silly kisses till the Omega is red faced and breathless from all the shrieks and giggles

-An Omega mother being really stressed after a long week taking care of children so their Alpha arranges a sleep over at grandma’s and then spends the day at home cuddling and napping with their exhausted mate. Only getting up to move to the tub where they soak together as the Alpha rubs all the knots out of their mate’s shoulders, pressing soft little kisses on their skin as they go

-Meeting an Alpha’s family for the first and the Omega being so upset after because, “they hate me. I could smell it, could you smell it? Of course you could it was so obvious.” and the Alpha just pulls their panicked mate into their lap and traces little circles on their arm until they calm down and then, “they did like you babe, but even if they didn’t it’s okay because…well at least your family loves me.” and the Omega just smacks them and stomps off while the Alpha laughs

-An Alpha accidentally upsetting their mate so they try to comfort them and make it better by surprising them with a blanket fort and cheesy movies that the Alpha hates but the Omega loves

-After reading ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ an Omega dissolves into a blubbering mess of tears on the floor and their Alpha picks up such a strong scent of distress that they come bursting in being all panicked and trying to figure out what’s wrong like, “Shhh, it’s okay, you’re okay, everything’s okay” and the Omega freaks, “Stop fucking saying okay! Okay was their always but it doesn’t fucking matter anymore! A-and I just-” and their mate then notices the book that was apparently thrown across the room and just stares because, a book? Really? Afraid to approach the Omega and be yelled at again, they eventually slide a bowl of ice cream across the floor and the Omega accepts it and life goes back to normal

-A couple trying for a kid and after a couple failed attempts during heats, the Omega is starting to feel a bit discouraged so their Alpha snuggles up with them, lightly running a hand up and down their back and crooning softly and after it’s quiet for awhile the Alpha attempts to lighten the mood like, “You’ve gotta admit we’ve had a lot of fun trying though” and the Omega just turns into a red flustered mess but even they can’t help giggling a bit. Though they feel much better when after the next heat they find out they are expecting at least two pups

Omegas Comforting Alphas Headcanons

-An Omega sensing that their Alpha is upset but knowing they are way too stubborn to ever admit that something is wrong, so the Omega whines a little and presses close to the Alpha. Acting like they are in need of comfort in order to get the Alpha to chill and be close to them for a bit which in turn provides comfort for the Alpha without them actually needing to ask for it

-Unhappy Alphas always appreciate skin on skin contact so naked cuddles are very much recommended because Alphas feel so reassured when they are close and intimate with their Omega

-An Alpha losing a premotion at work to another Alpha so they are all upset and telling their Omega what a failure they are and then being taken by surprise when their usually docile Omega drags them upstairs, strips them both, and then proceeds to ride them while going on about just how great they are and how they never “fail” to satisfy them and the Alpha finds that they really adore their Omega’s methods of comforting

-An Alpha being sad for no real reason and their Omega immediately shifting into mother hen mode, coddling them and practically forcing hot coco and cookies on them to make them feel better

-A pregnant Omega noticing that their Alpha seems a bit down so they simply go and plop down on the Alpha’s lap and grab their hand to press against their tummy. It doesn’t take long for the baby to start kicking and soon the couple is giggling and guessing about dynamics, and all the Alpha’s troubles are forgotten for at least a little while

-An Omega knowing that their Alpha had a bad day at work so they order a ton of unhealthy junk food to eat while watching all the movies that the Alpha loves and the Omega usually refuses to watch

-An Alpha waking up from a really sad dream and they have tears in their eyes and everything, they try not to wake their mate but the Omega senses their distress and cuddles closer in bed as they sleepily begin to coo and soothingly run their fingers through the Alpha’s hair until their mate falls back into a peaceful sleep

-An Alpha being really frustrated by something so their Omega distracts them by giving them long slow kisses and releasing a calming scent to try and soothe them

-An Alpha losing a close friend and being so upset that their Omega really doesn’t know what to do. So running on instinct they build a nest, drag their Alpha into it, and lay there quietly with them until the Alpha is ready to get up and face life again

-The morning after sleeping together for the first time, the Alpha sees all the bruises and bitemarks littering their mates skin and noticing the little wince on their face as they limp around and just feeling completely terrible for being so rough and going on and on about how sorry they are and, “wait what are you mumbling about?” and a very red faced Omega finally just blurting, “The pain actually felt really good and I loved it you idiot.” and okay cool, their Omega is kind of a masochist and everything is alright and, wait what?

Heat/Rut Headcanon

a headcanon that’s been buzzing around my head and one that I’m not sure if anyone’s made. There’s Adult ruts/heats and then there’s kid and teenage Rut/heats.  Adult ruts and heats are basically standard heats/ruts. 

depending on universe, heats last 4 days and happens every 2 months. Ruts last 3 days and happens every 3 months but extend and changes when they’ve synced up with their mate’s heat cycle.    

Heat smell that’s intoxicating

Pre-heat nesting instincts

Protective/possessive instincts

Elevated temperatures

Wanting to fight in rut case, also in some omega cases

Desire to mate.

Teenage/kid heats and ruts.

Omega Kid heats last 2 days and happen every 3 months. Alpha kid ruts last 5 days but happen every 2 months. (I like the idea that when an alpha’s hormones rush they rush hard when they start having ruts but they mellow out as they get older)

Teenagers are able to take suppressors and in rare cases kids below 14 can if its extreme enough but its small doses.

elevated temperature with younger kids parents need heavy attention to their kid during it. it’s pretty normal for one parent to stay home when a kid’s heat starts. most jobs allow parents to take a day

Omegas have a need for physical touch(cuddles and hugs) sometimes hold their siblings’, friends’ or parents’ hand for longer than what people would like to ever hold hands.

Omegas are quick to panic when they can’t smell or sense anyone near them in heat. there’s big market for scented bracelets for kids.

Alphas have destructive tendencies in rut as kids. Rut kid toys are a thing. The toys are damn near indestructible for them to just throw around how every they want in a backyard.

kids in rut and heat sometimes get into the habit of stealing things from family members that smell like them. Kids sometimes just stay in parent’s room for most of their heats just chilling in their parents’ bed maybe even a sibling. 

Teenagers start making nests.

kids in rut have alot of energy, which doesn’t mesh well with their destructive tendencies. so parents do take alpha kids to little kid gyms so they can just get that energy out. big indoors soft playgrounds. 

heat smell from a kid and teenagers doesn’t make anyone aroused. The scent just smells nice but strong af. Close childhood friends are so used to the scent it makes them desensitized to an extent that when they’re adults it doesn’t even faze them
