Prayer to Loki for hard times
This prayer was written by me, and is part of a series of prayers to recite when going through rough times. Everyone is going through the ringer right now, given the state of everything, so hopefully this can help you get through some tough things too. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Hail Loki, the sly son of Laufey,
Confidante of the thunderer and blood brother of the raven god,
Fiery-haired father of the wolf, the serpent and the deathly lady,
I pray to you and hope that you may hear me
As it is in this hour of need that I need your help the most!
Loki, wily god of lies and fools,
But wise in the way that only a trickster can be,
You are the god of the outcasts,
The shape-changer whose identity is never defined,
Much like those who find comfort in your presence!
I pray that you, O Loki,
Will help guide me out of the suffering I find myself in;
Teach me the ways of cleverness so that I may slip from this snare,
As a wily fox outsmarts its hunter,
And gift me with your blessings and good humor,
So that even in the darkest moments,
I may find the light that you help bring.
You, Loki, are the inspirer of smiles,
The greatest companion, full of tricks and whimsy,
And all those who call you their companion,
From Thor to Odin to the common man,
Are very blessed indeed to feel your presence
And know your quick wit.
Hail Loki, the mischief maker and helpful guide,
And may you bring blessings upon this house in our times of need!

Pixil's Guide to Elder Futhark Runes
Note: I did do several hours of research on Runes to try to get accurate facts, but that doesn't mean I haven't made mistakes or that these results will also work for you, so make sure to do your own research!
Note 2: this doesn't go super in depth, this is just the basics, look at this blog for more comprehensive information @kind-of-a-chaos-witch. They are currently on hiatus, but have already made very comprehensive posts on runes
Now with that out of the way, let's begin.
What are the Elder Futhark Runes and how are they used? "The Elder Futhark runes are a set of 24 symbols that were used for writing in Scandinavia and other parts of Northern Europe from about 200-800 AD. The word “Futhark” is derived from the first six letters, which are called 'Fehu,' 'Uruz,' 'Thurisaz,' 'Ansuz,' 'Raidho' and 'Kennaz.'" - Link. These Runes can be used in many different ways including: drawing/wearing one, drawing/wearing multiple, divination (rune casting), and sigil making (post on that coming soon). This post will not go into enough information for rune casting. Now let's get into what they look like, their names, and their meanings
This one is often depicted as straight lines rather than curved. Its name is Fehu (Fey-hoo) which translates to livestock or cattle. This is used for wealth, abundance, and material gain
Its name is Uruz (OO-rooz) which translates to bull. This is used for strength or health
This one is often depicted as a triangle rather than a semi circle. It's name is Thurisaz (THUR-ee-sahz) which translates to giant or thorn. It's used for defense and protection
This one's name is Ansuz (AHN-sooz), sources say different things for this one. It can mean mouth, ancestors, and gods. It's used for communication and messages
Its name is Raidho (Rah-EED-ho) and it means wagon or wheel. It's used for transportation, travels, and journeys
Its name is Kenaz (KEN-ahz) and it means torch. It's used for knowledge and controlled passion
Its name is Gebo (GHEB-o) and it means gift. It's used for receiving blessings (some sources say receiving through sacrifices/offerings) and exchanges/exchange based relationships
Its name is Wunjo (WOON-yo) and it means joy. It's used for creating kinship, fulfillment, and happiness. It has been used for family bonds as well.
Its name is Hagalaz (HA-ga-lahz) and it means hail. It's used for representing difficulties, transformation, and overcoming obstacles
Its name is Naudhiz (NOWD-heez) and it means need. Its used for breaking through restrictions, getting what you need, and self reliance or self care
Its name is Isa (EE-sa) and it means ice. It's used for clarity, knowledge, and stability
Its name is Jera (YARE-a) and it means year or harvest. It's used for receiving rewards of longtime work/goals, cycles, and completion
Its name is Eihwaz (AY-wahz) and it means Yew Tree. It's used for balance and wisdom
Its name is Perthro (PER-thro) and it means fate. It's used for destiny and the unknowns of the future
Its name is Algiz (AL-geez) and it means Elk. Its used for protection, sanctuary, and guardians
This one also looks like an S with no curves. Its name is Sowilo (So-WEE-lo) and it means sun. It's used for success, healing, and growth
Its name is Tiwaz (TEE-wahz) and it means victory. It represents the got Tyr and is used for winning, justice, and battles
Its name is Berkano (BER-kah-no) and it mean Birch Tree. It represents rebirth or the start of something new
Its name is Ehwaz (EH-wahz) and it means horse. Its used for movement, progress, and change
Its name is Mannaz (MAN-naz) and it means human. Its used for reaching divine potential, the development of skills, and individulality
Its name is Laguz (LAH-gooz) and it means water. Its used for self reflection, renewal, and sometimes dream magic
Its name is Ingwaz (ING-wahz) and it means seed. Its used for fertility, goals, growth, and family lines/ancestry

Mind you those aren't the only runes that people use, so make sure to check out my Masterlist!

Limited Hand Mobility + Witchcraft
Tumblr media
For folks who have limited mobility in their hands due to pain, weakness, shakiness, or anything else. These are a range of ideas, not all of them may work for each person, but hopefully they’ll spark something that will!
Looking for broader low energy, low mobility or bedridden ideas? Check out my bedridden witch series (click here!)
Tarot:
Tarot apps are a great way to pull a card with a tap or two (Labyrinthos and Galaxy tarot have been recommended).
Place your deck in your lap. Feel for any loose cards, then pull them.
Split the deck (doesn’t have to be even). The cards on either end of the split are the cards for your spread.
Spread the deck on a flat surface, and move your hand over to pick (let your hands sense the energy), or pick based on intuition.
If gripping/managing thin paper is tricky, some people use other objects for tarot readings. I’ve seen jewelry charms as a common one, but the possibilities are endless (cardboard, wooden blocks, etc.). >Here are some printable decks!<
You can do more than readings with your cards. Pick one per day and just spend time with it. Look at the art, pay attention to how it makes you feel. Learn the meanings of the card.
This post may have more ideas: Bedridden witch: Divination edition
Pendulum:
I have had success with using a pendulum while dealing with shaking hands.
Let something else do the work! Hang it by an open window, focus your energy and let the wind move the pendulum for you.
Use a pendulum jar/stand.
Use a shorter pendulum that can be used with one finger. A string with a small crystal bead will do.
Prop your arm/hand on a pillow.
You could also use other parts of your body to hold the pendulum (like your mouth or toes… wouldn’t recommend switching between the two though!)
Bedridden witch: Divination edition
Other Divination:
Runes may be easier to hold/use than tarot cards.
Use rune apps (runic divination was recommended).
Scrying (using a mirror or bowl) is hands-free.
For more ideas: Bedridden witch: Divination edition
Spells and Energy Work:
A lot of witches use their hands to focus energy during spellwork and other magical doings. While this may be helpful, it’s not necessary!
Focusing energy can be helpful. Use a crystal or other object and touch it in some way (with your hand, have it in your lap, whatever works for you). Use the crystal/object to help channel and amplify your energy.
I usually draw energy up from the earth (even while in bed) by placing my palms flat(ish) towards the earth by the sides of my body. So if I was lying down, my arms would be at my sides with my palms facing down.
Use visualization! A LOT of my magic involves visualization.
Candles and Incense:
Himalayan salt lamps are a great way to bring a similar energy that a burning candle would.
I honestly really like electric candles, but I know they’re not everybody’s thing. Plus sides: if you forget about them they simply run out of battery, can be decorated–tape with color correspondences, sigils, spells, etc. (you could even print something and tape it on).
Reed diffusers. Get the yummy smell that candles or incense brings without the flames and smoke. Plus you can ignore it for months!
Essential oil diffusers. Great way to get the correspondences that incense often holds. (please use safely and not around your pets).
Room spray. Store-bought or self-infused natural sprays are a great way to add good smells and/or correspondences.
Recording information:
Voice text or dictation software are often accessible, though not always perfect. It is a great way to get things down that you don’t want to forget/want to reformat later.
Typing can sometimes be easier than writing, and journals/grimoires in documents are easy to organize, and to read.
I’m a very tactile person and enjoy writing (even if it hurts/is difficult). My tarot journal is filled with terrible handwriting, random shorthand, and codes I came up with to shorten things (ie. a little symbol for each suit, then the card number). It doesn’t have to be an all-day process.
I’d imagine that some tarot apps record which cards you’ve pulled, or have an option to save it.
Odds and Ends:
Use compression gloves or other gear to support your hands? Add sigils or enchant them!
Same goes for any lotions, creams, balms or medications used to help; sigils, charging, enchanting, etc. are all great ways to incorporate magic.
Teas are an easy way to get multiple herbs + their medicinal values without needing to do anything!
Into kitchen witchcraft? Using electric mixers can be very helpful.
Create sigils using a phone app (touchscreen) and your fingers rather than holding a pen.

cloud magic ☁️
Tumblr media
a cloud is an aerosol consisting of a visible mass of liquid droplets, ice crystals, or other particles, suspended in the atmosphere of a planetary body or similar space such as the earth.
my personal associations and correspondences for clouds include: all types of weather phenomena (storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.), celestial bodies such as nebulae, uranus (ruler of the sky), the air element, destruction, shielding, illusion, distortion, peace, comfort, dreams, sleep, warding nightmares, and divination.
how to use clouds in magic
craft spell jars based on intent; add puffs of cotton to represent clouds
craft a cloud in a jar/bottle
craft a cloud shaped dream pillow
cloud watching as meditation
use cloud movement for weather prediction [to time spells]
use cloud shapes for divination [nephelomancy]
cluster crystals together in various shapes or patterns depending on the type of cloud you want to work with
pair with the suit of swords in tarot cards
listen to music produced with wind instruments
use marshmallows or whipped cream to represent clouds in desserts
use as a source of energy to charge items or spells [storm clouds would be good for this]
cloud manipulation [energy work]
cloud illusions [sun dogs, halos, and pillars]
nephelomany / cloud scrying
nephelomany, also known as cloud scrying, can be performed by interpreting cloud shapes and surrounding colors. the most common clouds to scry with are cumulus or stratocumulus clouds due to their well-formed shape and defined boundaries.

The waxing and waning of spiritual feelings
I'd like to address an experience that is widespread in polytheism (and probably other spiritual traditions) yet isn't talked about very often; the experience of oscillating between periods intense religious fervor then switching to having almost no religious feelings at all.
When this first happened to me years ago at the beginning of my practice I thought I must be doing something wrong. Have the gods abandoned me? Am I unworthy? Were my previous feelings all just a delusion and now it's wearing off? It was vexing and I wasn't sure what to make of it.
Now that I've been doing this for a few years I know what it is and can set aside my worries; I'm not doing anything wrong, the gods haven't abandoned me, the simple fact is that religious feelings wax and wane in intensity just like the seasons or the cycles of the moon.
I'll have a month or two where I can't stop thinking about the gods. I'm listening to religious music, I'm reading religious books and in all of my rituals I feel a deep connection to the divine, then suddenly it's like the total opposite; I'm not thinking about it at all and I feel like I have to force myself to do the bare minimum in my rituals.
For me it seems to be highly correlated to the changing of the seasons; I tend to feel much more religiously enthusiastic when spring is changing to summer, when the leaves first fall or when winter is setting in, then I get my spiritual lows at the peak of summer and winter. It makes sense to me that times of change inspire feelings of religious devotion in me, I can see the action of the gods more clearly in these times of year.
If you've experienced this I only have this advice: don't be hard on yourself, try to just do your basic rituals as a matter of habit even if you aren't feeling it and rest assured that your feelings will return, the gods haven't gone anywhere. Before too long you'll be able to feel them again.
From speaking to other polytheists I've gathered that this is a common if not ubiquitous experience.

hey! (If I did everything right) I found out water is dominant element, do you have any extra tips on connecting with it? I’ve read your other posts but wanted to ask :)
🌊 Water Magic: Everything You Need to Know
Tumblr media
Water is more than just a life-giving substance — it is an ancient, sacred force that shapes worlds, heals souls, and carries the memory of the Earth. In magic, water is the element of emotion, intuition, dreams, and the subconscious. It teaches us to flow, to feel, and to transform.
Water Through the Cultures of the World
Water flows through the heart of every civilization — not merely as a necessity, but as a sacred force, a living entity, a divine mystery. Across cultures and ages, water is a mirror of the divine, a veil between realms, a symbol of purity and chaos, of life and death.
In ancient Greece, water was a domain of gods and spirits — Poseidon, the mighty ruler of oceans, held sway over storms and earthquakes, while the Naiads, graceful freshwater nymphs, dwelled in springs, wells, and streams, often guarding their sacred waters with both love and wrath.
In Hinduism, the Ganges River is not just a river but Ganga, a goddess incarnate. Her waters are believed to purify karmic debts, and millions bathe in her current during sacred festivals, seeking rebirth and liberation.
In Shinto, the indigenous spirituality of Japan, water is essential to misogi — purification rites where practitioners cleanse body and spirit beneath waterfalls or with ritual washing, connecting to the kami (divine spirits) through flowing purity.
In African Traditional Religions, especially in West Africa and the African diaspora, we meet Mami Wata, a powerful water spirit who is both nurturing and fearsome, known to offer wealth, beauty, and wisdom — but at a cost. She is a siren of transformation.
Among the Celts, sacred wells and springs were portals to the Otherworld. Pilgrims would leave offerings at these liminal places, hoping for healing or divine insight. Water was, and still is, a bridge between the physical and the unseen.
Water, then, is not only a symbol but a teacher. It teaches us to flow, to cleanse, to destroy, and to begin again.
Mythical Creatures
The element of Water is alive with beings from folklore and myth — some enchanting, some terrifying, all tied to mystery, emotion, and transformation.
Naiads, Undines & Nymphs – Spirit guardians of freshwater bodies. These ethereal beings are often protectors of sacred springs and rivers, bestowing blessings to those who respect their domain… or curses to those who defile it.
Mermaids & Sirens – Embodying both beauty and danger, these sea-dwelling enchantresses lure sailors with haunting songs. In some traditions, they bring wisdom from the deep; in others, they drag mortals into watery graves.
Selkies – From Scottish and Irish folklore, selkies are seal-folk who shed their skins to walk as humans. Their stories are bittersweet — tales of longing, transformation, and never truly belonging.
Kraken & Leviathan – The deep sea holds monsters beyond imagining. The Kraken, from Norse legend, could sink entire ships; Leviathan, from Jewish lore, is a primordial sea serpent representing chaos, untamed power, and the divine abyss.
Water Deities Around the World
Yemayá (Yemoja) – Orisha of oceans, motherhood, and protection. Gentle but fierce, she rules over salt water and the tides of human emotion. She is worshipped with seashells, flowing fabrics, and offerings cast into the sea.
Poseidon / Neptune – The storm-bringing gods of the Greek and Roman pantheons. Wielding a trident, they ruled the seas with volatile tempers — powerful, creative, and destructive.
Brigid (as a goddess of sacred wells) – Celtic goddess of healing, poetry, and the eternal flame. Her wells are still visited today for blessings and prayers, especially in Ireland.
Tlaloc – Aztec god of rain, fertility, and water. Both feared and worshipped, Tlaloc could bring bountiful crops or devastating floods. His presence was vital for life in a harsh climate.
Sedna – Inuit goddess of the sea and all its creatures. She dwells in the deep, and Inuit shamans must journey to her spirit realm to appease her and ensure successful hunts.
These deities and spirits remind us that water is not passive — it holds memory, magic, and majesty. These are just a few examples, there are many others.
Everyday Water Magic
You don’t need to live near the ocean to work with water. Here are some daily practices:
Drink water mindfully – Bless your water before drinking. Infuse it with intentions for calm, clarity, or healing.
Ritual baths/showers – Cleanse yourself energetically with herbs, oils, or crystals. Imagine negativity washing away.
Swimming in natural water – Lakes, rivers, and seas connect you directly with the element. Offer gratitude before entering.
Altars – Add a cup, bowl, or chalice of water to represent the West. Refresh it regularly and speak your prayers into it.
Types of Magical Water
Each kind of water carries its own energy. Here’s a summary:
Dew Water – Rare and magical; used in love spells and offerings to fae spirits.
Glacier Water – Tied to ancient wisdom and clarity.
Lake Water – Brings peace, self-reflection, and joy.
Ocean Water – Strong, ever-changing. Used for protection, power, and working with sea spirits like Yemaya.
Pond Water – Nurtures self-discovery and opens new opportunities.
Rainwater – Extremely versatile. May rain is especially potent for blessings and fertility.
Snow Water – Symbolizes purity and transformation. Use it for cleansing and change.
Spring Water – Associated with new beginnings and abundance. Takes on the spirit of its landscape.
Storm Water – Fierce and charged. Use for protection, motivation, rebirth… or darker magic like hexes.
Swamp Water – Thick, murky, and powerful. Useful for bindings, banishings, and revenge.
Water in Astrology & Tarot
Water signs are:
Cancer – Nurturing, emotional, and protective.
Scorpio – Deep, intense, transformative.
Pisces – Dreamy, psychic, and empathetic.
In the Tarot, water is represented by the Suit of Cups, symbolizing emotion, love, intuition, and relationships. Major Arcana cards tied to water include:
The Moon – Illusion, dreams, intuition.
Death – Transformation and emotional release.
Temperance – Balance, healing, alchemy.
The Star – Hope, divine guidance, purification.
Judgement – Renewal, emotional awakening, spiritual rebirth.
Plants
Apple – Love and divination.
Gardenia – Clarity and purity.
Eucalyptus – Healing and cleansing.
Chamomile – Peace, sleep, and soothing energy.
Iris – Inspiration and dreams.
Cucumber – Cooling and balance.
Hyacinth – Grief, love, and transformation.
Jasmine – Attraction and lunar energy.
Lemon – Clarity and emotional purification.
Lotus – Spiritual awakening and rebirth.
Peach – Immortality and desire.
Rose – Love, beauty, and heart healing.
Thyme – Courage and psychic energy.
Violet – Tranquility and spiritual connection.
Crystals
Aquamarine – Calming, protection, and communication.
Amethyst – Intuition, dreams, and emotional balance.
Blue Chalcedony – Gentle energy and soothing communication.
Coral – Emotional harmony and sea magic.
Pearl – Wisdom from experience, lunar connection.
Rose Quartz – Love, self-care, and emotional healing.
Turquoise – Healing, truth, and flow.
Types of Water Magic
Water is one of the most magical elements. Its magic includes:
Divination – Especially hydromancy (scrying in water), dream work, and tarot reading.
Lunar Magic – Water responds to the moon; moon phases influence emotional and magical tides.
Healing – Baths, teas, and elixirs for emotional and spiritual restoration.
Revenge – Especially when working with your shadow self — though powerful, this should be approached with caution and responsibility.
Water is a mirror — of the world, of others, and of yourself. To work with it is to look within. To flow with it is to surrender, and to trust.
Blessings of the sacred waters upon you May your magic ripple outward like rain across still water.

Enchanting Your Plushies For Good Sleep (A Simple Spell) by Velvet Rose
Tumblr media
PURPOSE: To help ward off nightmares and bring peaceful sleep.
DISCLAIMER: Don’t do this spell if you’re allergic to lavender.
SUPPLIES:
-Your plushie of choice
-1 drop lavender essential oil
-Moon water (preferably waning moon but any is good) 2 cups
-A spray bottle
INSTRUCTIONS:
-Cast a circle or do whatever ritual you consider protective before doing this spell. For low effort circle casting spin around clockwise with your index finger pointed outwards and say “I call upon the elements quickly, fill this circle with your good energy.”
-Sit on the ground within the circle with your supplies around you. Charge the moon water in the spray bottle by speaking this incantation over it. “Breath of my lungs, a peaceful exhale, ripple this water and charge it without fail. Only dreams that are gentle in nature, can fill my sleep oh so sweet.”
-Breathe onto the moon water so that it ripples.
-Next drop one drop of lavender into the moon water thats in the spray bottle. Say “Lavendula my lovely essence, my mind soothes from your soft presence.”
-Screw the spray bottle/mister top on and hold it close to your heart. Say 9 times the following. “Now i bless you three times three. Tonight i will have restful sleep.”
-Take your plushie and give it a hug, and sprits it from about a foot away with the spray you just made.
-Close the circle or do whatever ritual you wish to close the spell. For a low effort circle closing spin counter clockwise with your index finger pointed outwards saying “I call upon the elements here, close this circle and disappear. Thank you.”
IT IS DONE! Yay! Now sleep well!

I had a similar experience, actually. Kept pushing me and I told him to "Get tf away" then boom! He was like "Now you hear me". I've only had fleeting interactions ever since
Norse pagans fellows, have any of you being bullied (in a friendly but slightly scary way) by Odin when he wants to communicate with you?
It happened to me at least a couple of times...
He is very clear when he wants to send a message, but I was a little intimidated 😄

I do need to remind the pagan community, as a native Chinese: the majority (if not all) of the native practitioners of the ancient eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, folk religions, Shinto, shamanism, etc.) do not want to be referred to as pagans.
Many (if not most) Asians find it highly offensive when Asian religions get put under the paganism category.
In many parts of the world, "pagan" is a derogatory description that indicates "abnormal", and the people have never wanted to associate with the term.
Just like "witch", "pagan" is not universally reclaimable, and all of us need to simply accept and respect this.
It doesn't matter what the word "pagan" means from an English dictionary. You can argue about its definition until the cows go home, but the whole world doesn't go by what something means in English and you need to understand this.

Little Loki Pride invocation/prayer
May Loki join us for Pride,
May Loki join and protect those who go out to celebrate and protest.
May we break that which binds us from being true with their aid.
May the shapeshifting trickster celebrate with us,
May the god of many faces protect and support us that go against the norm.
