Had an incredibly weird dream set in the present day where Garak and Bashir were married and I was Bashir, and Garak was pregnant and in a plane crash in a field, which caused him to be seriously injured, fall unconscious, and go into labour. Bashir scanned him with a tricorder, then picked him up and ran to a hospital in the distance. When they got there he took Garak to the natal ward, but they wouldn’t treat him because he was Cardassian, even though Bashir was yelling and crying that he was dying. So he carried him to different departments and no one would treat him, then he reached another desk, screaming and sobbing, and the receptionist agreed Garak could be taken to a ward and while they were talking Garak’s heart had briefly stopped. They got to the ward and Bashir lay Garak on the bed, and the staff removed a sac with the baby from Garak’s stomach despite him being fully-clothed, and it was put on another bed, and Bashir was given a rubber mask to wear while the staff prepared to cut into Garak and the sac. He asked if he could hold Garak’s foot, and they agreed, and he watched as they fixed Garak up while delivering the baby from his stomach- they put some wires on him to give an electrical shock to induce labour while cutting into the sac on the other bed. Then he was stabilised and Bashir allowed to sit beside him, and he was awake and they talked, and the baby was placed on his chest, and they talked some more, and then I woke up.

If they even just halved their episode budgets and made 20 a season people would be happier. Not to mention giving the audiences what they want instead of thinking prioritising profit will actually make them more profit. Skydance deal, anyone?

Five seasons or less for each streaming show. Hmm. It seems as though streaming isn’t as good a model as broadcast.
